The first double Gameweek of the Premier League season, involving Manchester City and Stoke, starts this weekend and understandably dominated the community’s thoughts throughout the week.

For our community scribes, the best candidates to trust with the armband or Triple Captain chip were the key issues to consider.

However, many of our hot topic posters were in more cautious mood, with rotation fears and impending blank fixtures coming under discussion.

The statistics of City’s midfield stars take centre stage in our look at the latest Members Table.

We finish off with a look at those who will be looking to extend their lead at the top of our community leagues by ensuring they take advantage of Gameweek 27’s extra matches.

The Community Articles

To mark the first double Gameweek of the season, YMA has tweaked his regular look at what the form and fixture data says about the captaincy, to only focus on players that have two matches.

For those looking to use their Triple Captain chip on a Manchester City assets Bash Villa has been taking a look ahead to the future double Gameweeks to see if this source of extra points could be better exploited later in the campaign.

Elsewhere, TopMarx‘s latest assessement of the Hall of Fame top 5 reveals that double Gameweek fever has gripped this elite group, with even their most hit-shy member keen to spend points.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

With two goals against Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup on Wednesday night, a brace against Monaco in the Champions League last week and matches against Sunderland and Stoke, Sergio Aguero certainly has form and fixtures on his side heading into the double Gameweek.

For Sharp Shuffle, drafting in the Argentine is not in doubt, instead the real issue is which heavy-hitting striker makes way in our squads.

But as our hot topic on the City striker’s triple captaincy credentials showed, there are still some lingering concerns surrounding his reliability as an armband option, given Pep Guardiola’s penchant for teamsheet tinkering.

This threat of rotation among the City ranks was also something that KTK Interista discussed in his chatter on Aguero.

Following on from a request from Viperstripes for further discussion of Manchester City midfielders, Mark duly obliged: his hot topic focused on which of their wingers, Raheem Sterling or Leroy Sane, provides the most potential, and also asked whether we should go all out and pair them up.

To round off our look at Guardiola’s troops, we also conducted a roll call of which of their players you intend to own in Gameweek 27 and whether you’re throwing the Triple Captain chip the way of their star striker.

There is a sting in the tail for those stocking up on City and Stoke assets, as a week later they and tne other teams miss out due to FA Cup Quarter Final commitments.

Our discussion on double and blank Gameweeks considered how best to tackle these changes to the fixture schedule.

Liverpool are among just eight teams with a match in Gameweek 28, but a 3-1 defeat to relegation battling Leicester City on Monday has left many wondering if the Reds can recapture early season form.

Finally, judging by some of the downbeat responses to our Rough with the Smooth round-up, the double Gameweek can’t come soon enough: there are certainly a number managers in need of a stellar score to revitalise their season.

The Members Tables

To offer further analysis on Manchester City, Watp73 has created this table looking at the best midfielders to target based on data from the last six weeks.

Elsewhere, Twisted Saltergater has honed in specifically on Sane and Sterling, to reveal which has the most impressive statistics over the last four.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

Red Lightning’s Top 10K Any Season league has a new leader after a Harry Kane armband helped James Bird earn a score of 87 in Gameweek 26.

But there’s no change at the top of Red Lightning’s January to May league, which Dan Clapson continues to dominate.

Ogie Nolan has regained the lead in the FFScout Members league from Billy Ketsu, while Arutla Jatin retains first place in our main league.

Arutla is still second in the overall standings but is now 47 points behind leader Knut Hebaek, who was another to captain Kane.

In TorresMagic‘s Last Man Standing competition, Ephurion hit the top score in Gameweek 24 with 96. There are now 427 teams left after 61 were eliminated when the safety score was set at 47.

TorresMagic has regained the lead in the FFScout Moderators and Contributors league, with a six point gap over second placed Mark.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round-ups, please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spreadsheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

For someone ranked 14k and not trailing the leader by much in an important ML, do I play my TC on Aguero? Feeling very tempted though.....

Ahead of De Roon more so for the higher point potential. Holebas could get a CS or a goal or both. De Roon will get 90 minutes and maybe one CS point.

Risk of 0-15 beats 1-3 for me.

Good one for the mix. I was thinking about the points potential for their attacking as a often starting XI, and that's as far as I can stretch. Carroll good, but I think he'll score less, though obviously a great cheap 5th.

For those chasing big leads in MLs, doesn't it make more sense to only captain (not TC) Aguero this week? Clearly he is an excellent option, but given that pretty much everyone has him as captain (at least), the possibility of making up large grounds is reduced (essentially its a 2xAguero differential).

I'm tempted to hold the TC and instead use it on a DGW differential that my rivals don't own. Obviously more risky, but it means a 6x differential, which could be huge if they score well.

    Thoughts?

    1. Holmes
      • 12 Years
      9 years, 3 months ago

I dont think you'll get a chance where your rival wont have the main players for the DGW.

You are likely to use it on Kane/Sanchez/Ibra which I guess they will bring anyway, even if it involves some hits.

      1. Jinswick
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

Yeah, it'd have to be for one of the non favoured captaincy options in a later DGW (excl GW37 for the BB). Rivals can't have ALL the good players. Obviously much higher risk though

    2. A Betting Man
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member

Or you could triple captain Sane...

    3. Pocky
      • 17 Years
      9 years, 3 months ago

So you'd be prepared to use TC on someone other than Sanchez, Ibra, Kane, Costa, Haz?? (besause they'll all have higher ownership that what Aguero does now come their DGW's).

If that's the case and that's the route you want to take i.e differential TC, then slapping it on Sterling this week may well be your best opportunity.

        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

Yeah that's not a bad idea either, although I expect most rivals to have him also (so would mean a 4x)

I'm just trying to pick the most solid TC I can. I've gotten Aguero, and he has two excellent fixtures. Willing to roll with that.

Every ML has is a specific situation so without knowing the specifics the question is not easily answered. I'm going for the Aguero TC this week because it's a solid risk and makes future decisions less complicated.

    6. Pep says
      • 10 Years
      9 years, 3 months ago

The main candidates are maybe Ibra and Sanchez. Kane I'm 37 is BB. Costa is explosive enough and Hazard won't haul big across 2 fixtures (very unlikely anyway, not worth the risk). The best thing to do is TC who you think will have the biggest GW haul of the season. For me, that's Aguerro, so TC is locked in!

    7. Hotdogs for Tea
      • 10 Years
      9 years, 3 months ago

Those not TCing Aguero this week will probably be using it for Sanchez, Ibra, Kane etc in their DGW, so your WC use will always be in competition with how your rivals uses their WC, even if it is in different game weeks.

You will never get a 6x differential overall, just in that gameweek.

      1. Pep says
        • 10 Years
        9 years, 3 months ago

Unless you do something crazy. Alonso for his 21pts, Stan for his 21pts, Chadli, Erik had 2 19pts. Like 2,000 people TC'd Kane. That was a differential cause many didn't even have him. That's the game you're looking at playing. Rather take my chances on Aguerro this week! All the signs are there for me

        1. Hotdogs for Tea
          • 10 Years
          9 years, 3 months ago

The key is TCing a player that your rivals doesnt have, and covering your rivals TC with a C.

If you can do that then agreed you will get the differential jump on them, but the problem is that the lesser player's DGW is probably against Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs etc

With 3 big hitters up front you will rarely play your 5th mid or have a huge problem deciding your bench each game, so bring in Tom Carroll or Davies as a nailed 5th mid and free up some cash?

Alternatively Gabbiadini, Llorente (GE28 and good fictures) etc as a third forward helps no end with strengthening elsewhere with a Spurs mid after GW28?

Worth looking at a cheap (Hull) 5th defender to free up some cash too?

Then gives you the Ibra or Kane option.

Sanchez plan in the next few weeks ? you can probably get him by selling Kun in the future.

I'm currently on 7 + Stanislas. Lukaku 8. Maybe take a punt and bring someone in for Stan for one week. Will be shipping to Sanchez the following week so I would need a goal from him to repay the hit.

As there's a chance Jones might get limited minutes and end up not playing 60 minutes. Think Man U are more likely a clean sheet than Chelsea but Alonso should play the whole match. Good luck.

Possibility he could come on as a sub and Sod's law man I will keep a clean sheet and he'll get 10 minutes or something as returning from injury. Hope he starts though.

Thing is who is a better option than Kun for Triple captain.

Kane yes he is inform comes up against United and palace

IBRA has City & Spurs so he is a no.

Sanchez has Southampton and someone else so probably the only one to really consider that has a big scoring potential. And will definitely play both games as he is rarely ever rested

Ibra and Sanchez will have 2 dgws but I agree, Aguerro is the best shout, I'm all in

Arsenal will go all out. Do we know who Sanchez's fixtures will be

      To me, only Sanchez is.

Arsenal has nothing else to play for and Sanchez is as explosive as we know.

OOP. Pen taker. Rarely rested and subbed out.

    Bench one please
    a) Coleman
    b) Brunt
    c) Cedric
    d) McAuley

Leaning towards Coleman but Davies will be marking him and we saw what Mane did there..
