The first double Gameweek of 2016/17 comes to its conclusion at the Etihad tonight as Manchester City take on Stoke City at 8pm.

Pep Guardiola’s decision to rotate has hit owners of Raheem Sterling hard – the winger has been rested for tonight’s match and fails to even make the bench.

It’s a bitter blow for the 338,000+ managers who drafted Sterling in for the double – they’re left with six points in Gameweek 27 after he provided the assist for Sergio Aguero’s opener at Sunderland.

There’s no concerns over Aguero, though, as he leads the line once again.

Handed the armband by 12.6% of Fantasy Premier League managers and Triple Captained by over 159,000, the Argentine has produced two goals and an assist in each of his previous two home appearances.

Leroy Sane also retains his role in Pep’s XI. The German is currently City’s top scoring player of the Gameweek after notching the second at the Stadium of Light to return a ten-point haul.

Those holding David Silva and John Stones are left frustrated as the duo drop to the bench, with Kevin De Bruyne returning to the teamsheet after a stint as a sub away to the Black Cats. A big performance would go some way to vindicating the decision of 6,937 FPL managers to play their Triple Captain chip on the Belgian.

After delivering a third clean sheet in four, City’s prospects of more defensive returns were handed a boost after Marko Arnautovic failed to recover from the illness that forced him off against Middlesbrough at the weekend.

The Austrian is currently the top scoring double Gameweek 27 player after bagging both goals in the 2-0 win over Aitor Karanka’s side.

Up top, Peter Crouch’s appeal as a budget third striker now seems far from secure – the target man’s run of ten league starts comes to an end as he drops to the bench, with new boy Saido Berahino handed a first start.

    Alli (12), Costa (9) Ibra (c, -2) = 19 >
    Sterling (6), Aguero (tc, 27) -4 = 29

So I'm up 10 points but TC used. Also have to account for having 2x City rather than reliable Spurs and Chelsea on bench ready for gw29 but can't really put a figure on that. Could say another 2 transfers so 8 points I suppose but that just confuses it.

Disappointed. How did your hits work out in the end?

Similar except sold Lukaku as didn't own Costa

Up by 13 for you then, but if you account for Lukaku back just 9. Depressing to say but after I wrote the original post I realised I'd have been better off doing nothing. That's the game though I suppose, we do it for the buzz 🙂

Disappointed TC didn't deliver more. But I would have definitely captained Ibra if it were not for the City DGW. And I was the only one in my ML that still had Ibra, so would have been more painful.

Yeah that Ibra -1 is the only good thing, now the dust has settled 🙂

Even Stevens. Only got one City (Kun) and ended with 4 more points than I would have had in exchange for a hit.

      Kane 13 Eriksen 2 Alonso 2 Phillips/Eriksen 0 Ibra -2 = 15
      Aguero 27 Mawson 1 Sterling 6 Sane 12 - 12 = 34

      1. Jay_

Not bad at all mate, only downside is Kane, Erik and Alonso will be needed back. I'm considering a post gw29 WC. Triple Spurs, Gabbi, Sanchez, Haz or Costa, few Boro Def if they get the dgw34. The idea is warming on me.

      Out: Hazard (11) + Rondon (2) =13
      In: King (9), Kun (18) -4 =23
I think +10 is decent especially given that I would have captained Ibra...
Grant (13), Pieters (14), and Allen (6) didn't hurt either

Lots of self loathing tonight, feels like a poker table in vegas after a bad beat. For the TC Kun guys, chin up, no one can say that anyone that has saved their TC will do any better. I didn't do it because I already got burned before by Pep on starting options but the logic was sound and may still well end up as the best TC move, FPL is like Hollywood, no one knows anything...

I don't buy the argument that the chips keep casuals interested. Most of them blow them early if they are even aware of them and if they lose interest they won't keep playing because they have a second wild card. The second wild card just makes it easier for everyone and encourages template teams. Scrap 'em all I say!

At this point in the season are "casuals" even still playing? I think it is hardcore from Jan on. The chips are what they are. If they are changed or eliminated, the "non casuals" will adapt. I do think the AOA is a bit annoying but saving it for the last GW seems to be it's optimal use. If other chips are invented and replace it, that's cool, but right now this is it, so don't go moaning about stuff you can't control

    Foster
    Brunt, Baines, Robertson, ALONSO
    Sigurdsson, Mane, Antonio, STERLING
    Lukaku, AGUERO

subs: Heaton --- Clayton, Holgate, IBRAHIMOVIC --- 1 FT, 0.5 ITB

    A) Sterling -> Coutinho
    B) Sterling & Ibrahimovic -> Coutinho & Llorente (-4)
    C) Something else, what?

Llorente would come in for only one week and then become Kane. I could also wait and do Ibra -> Kane for GW29.

Are hits worth taking this week? Since a -4 feels a bit like a -2 since no-one else is playing.

    Thoughts?

    1. Pinky Blinders

I think this is a bit miguided. Hits make you go backwards. Then you go to dig yourself out of a hole. Sure having a player blanking means not getting something positive but it also means you aren't going backwards. A player getting 2 points is average but by no means guaranteed.

If you kept this long, wait for the pressers, he might play

I have 7 players for GW28, possibly only 6 if Phillips doesn't play.

Agüero -> Llorente this week in order to get Sanchez for Phillips next week?

Would be my 2nd hit this week and leave me with a -8.

    Alli lukaku kane- 12 6 10 = 28
    Sterling Aguero(c) 12 18 -8 = 22

6 pts loss and 0.5 cash gone (on alli) huge fail also need to take hits to get rid so idk how much I lost on this

Another 3 pts for starters I'm afraid. Pretty sure Kane scored 13 :/

In the same boat. Played 'safe' with one DGW transfer and swapped Kane (c) for Kun (TC) -4. Lost 0.5m and TC chip for same points.

Rough and the smooth my friend....Onto next week

I've just recalculated my GW transfers (Kaku and Alli to Kun and Siggy)

Ibra (c), Lukuku and Alli would have been 16
Kun (c), Ibra and Siggy got me 22
So a 2 point profit after the hit

Missing Barca's comeback to watch a pathetic Aguero TC just adds salt to the wounds

Ha! I had an eye on both but City was in the foreground.

      Awful game.

mostly watched city game first half switching over a couple of times to barca

However it was one of the most boring games I have ever seen, when you have one of the most incredible moments happening over on the other channel which do you watch?

I turned over just before the pen at 5-1 and watched all the way through to the end. Not usually I would switch over from a prem league game with a lot riding on it fpl wise but it was so dull.

Deep down I knew I might regret not watching it, its just so hard to turn off from a game that has so much at stake FPL wise

Ibra to Llorente for a hit or bench Ibra (play 9 eithout a hit) and get Kane in for GW29 for Ibra?

Is it worth doing Alonso--> Spurs/Man Utd defender in the near future to free up funds?

What did you get Alonso for? Think about his price relative to MUN defenders and work out if you think they're better value. I'm keeping Alonso for the run in but then I have Walker as well

Just realised Walker is 6.4, doubt getting rid of Alonso is worth that. Perhaps Valencia.

Not only did my Agüero TC fail, my ML leader had double Stoke defence. He's preserved his TC too.

Keep this for - 4 or do something else (ie Capoue - > King)

    Jaku

    Coleman Brunt McAuley (Amat Alonso)

    Mane Siggy Coutinho Philips (Capoue)

    Lukaku Llorente (Kane)

7.3m in the bank (Sanchez funds mainly.... If I choose to go there)

      No one?

Basically is Capoue - > King worth a - 4 even if it means getting Sanchez is a tad bit more tricky?

If it's just for one week then I'd say no, else you're having to bench King every week of you get Sanchez back.

was feeling mighty smug at 8pm when TC Aguero lined up and my ML chaser's Sterling didnt. Free hit and a chance to pull a further 50+ points ahead - typical outcome.

Pep took the creative beat from the heart of citeh v STO by not starting Silva & Sterling. It was a big blunder and has cost us, sigh... let's drink.

    GTG?
    Kaku
    Coleman Haines Brunt Amat
    Siggy(VC) Milner Snoddy Phillips
    Lukaku(C) Llorente

Subs - Grant Alonso Hazard Kane

I'm already on -4. Do I do Haz for Mane for -8? It's not worth it is it?

Got 6 playing next week (hopefully).....

    Grant Pickford
    Holebas Amat Pieters Coleman McAuley
    Eriksen Capoue Mane King Philips
    Kaku Ibra Kun

Do Grant to Jaku and Ibra to Llorente to give me 8 playing for -4? Think Jaku rotates well with Pickford. Worth doing Capoue to Siggy for -8 as well?

Do all 3 only if you want to keep Llorente and Siggy for a while.

    Really need help here:

    Grant, Jaku

    Baines, Walker, Alonso, Brunt, Amat

    Mane, Siggy, Sterling, Pedro, Stanislas

    Kun, Lukaku, Gray

Got 0.3 ITB, 1FT. Was thinking Llorente for Kun and Antonio for Sterling for -4 cuz I got like seven players and these two are a good long term option. Opinions? Ty guys

Pool Doesnt do good against small teams like burnley.
So pool milf doubling is a bad idea.
But then they have city the next week!

Sterlng> Cout worth a hit? (consider gw28+29, not only 28)

Seen as Coutinho/Firmino is kind of 50/50, is the fact that my rival (who I trail by 60 points) owns Firmino enough to go for Cout?
