The first double Gameweek of 2016/17 comes to its conclusion at the Etihad tonight as Manchester City take on Stoke City at 8pm.

Pep Guardiola’s decision to rotate has hit owners of Raheem Sterling hard – the winger has been rested for tonight’s match and fails to even make the bench.

It’s a bitter blow for the 338,000+ managers who drafted Sterling in for the double – they’re left with six points in Gameweek 27 after he provided the assist for Sergio Aguero’s opener at Sunderland.

There’s no concerns over Aguero, though, as he leads the line once again.

Handed the armband by 12.6% of Fantasy Premier League managers and Triple Captained by over 159,000, the Argentine has produced two goals and an assist in each of his previous two home appearances.

Leroy Sane also retains his role in Pep’s XI. The German is currently City’s top scoring player of the Gameweek after notching the second at the Stadium of Light to return a ten-point haul.

Those holding David Silva and John Stones are left frustrated as the duo drop to the bench, with Kevin De Bruyne returning to the teamsheet after a stint as a sub away to the Black Cats. A big performance would go some way to vindicating the decision of 6,937 FPL managers to play their Triple Captain chip on the Belgian.

After delivering a third clean sheet in four, City’s prospects of more defensive returns were handed a boost after Marko Arnautovic failed to recover from the illness that forced him off against Middlesbrough at the weekend.

The Austrian is currently the top scoring double Gameweek 27 player after bagging both goals in the 2-0 win over Aitor Karanka’s side.

Up top, Peter Crouch’s appeal as a budget third striker now seems far from secure – the target man’s run of ten league starts comes to an end as he drops to the bench, with new boy Saido Berahino handed a first start.

    Heaton (Pickford)
Brunt Funes Mori Francis (Walker) (Alonso)
    Siggy T.Carroll Snoddy Mane (Alli)
    Lukaku (Kane) (Aguero)

Was all set to go in with 9 this week, but now tempted, like a moth to the flame, to take a hit to do Aguero to Big Andy Carroll, I know it will end in tears, please talk me out of it!!

        I'm doing it but he'll be a 1 week punt only. Thinking it's worth a -2/-3.

Brunt - bad run of games coming up didnt do well in the last few.
Azpili - hasn't kept a clean sheet for his price tag
Philips - partly injured and partly lost of form
crouch - to be benched more often now.

    which to ditch first?

          Depends on defence and attack.
          Has to be Phillips/Crouch imo.

I picked up Daniels for Ake back when BOU looked halfway decent and were playing a then attrocious Hull. Got two points total in 4 GW's....triggering my downward spiral. I feel your pain. Swapped Daniels for Funes Mori after the 4 weeks of suffering and at least he has done reasonably well.

I am tossing up the same transfers, or even Lanzini given he's produced a bit lately. Still undecided though. I just think of all the GW28 games, there could be the most goals in the WH/BOU game. I have king but no WH, so am leaning towards taking a hit, just don't know who to go for.

Defoe, Pickford, and Kone could make things interesting given Sunderland's history of great escapes, regardless of opponents... This might the year where their luck finally runs out though without some of the awful teams in previous years to go down instead

Is anyone considering a wildcard after GW28? I've had a torrid time lately fallen 70k places in few weeks. Just feel like a spring clean of my team might perk me up. Can then plan cleverly with transfers for the impending DGW's.

I put an argument forward for the same the other day. Everyone will tell you "wait until the double gameweeks" or "save until GW37" but it totally depends on your current situation. Personally I'm going to play it during the international break after GW29.

      Coutinho

Appears to be back in form, great stats, top of Jonty's "Goals Imminent" table and playing in a Liverpool team who score for fun at home.

I'd back a Liverpool player at home over a West Ham player regardless of fixtures.
