Fresh from a lacklustre end to this season’s first double Gameweek, which culminated with Manchester City’s goalless draw against Stoke, the community is already looking ahead to the weekend’s fixtures and beyond.

Our resident scribes check out bandwagon chasing and captaincy options, while our hot topic discussions take in long-term attacking targets, the proliferation of Fantasy Football media and season-defining moves.

Hull City’s band of differentials, as well as defenders with attacking intent, are the focus of our Members table round up before we finish off with a look at those leading our community contests after Gameweek 27’s extended schedule.

The Community Articles

Ahead of the weekend’s reduced fixture list, in which just eight teams play, YMA has been taking a look at form and fixtures to run the rule over the best captaincy candidates.

For Kryten, bandwagon chasing and whether this strategy can reap immediate rewards, is one of the key issues to consider, particularly with many looking to make short-term moves to bolster their ailing Gameweek 28 teams.

Meanwhile, Kryten has been named community writer of the month, for February. He wins a £20 Amazon voucher after his troll hunting articles, which covered form and fixture miscreants to earn the most votes.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

With such a limited pool of players to choose from in Gameweek 28, hits are likely to be needed, according to Wild Rover who offered some timely advice on spending points.

But some managers’ squads will be so depleted that a Wildcard chip may be required. However, our hot topic on when to use this valuable chip suggested that its deployment later in the season could be far more profitable.

Good differentials will also be crucial to success, as we cast our eye over some of the best low-owned gems to consider this weekend.

Camarozz has been looking even further ahead to assess the ideal front three after this weekend’s streamlined schedule is out of the way.

Alexis Sanchez would ordinarily be a key long-term midfield target, with home encounters with West Ham and Sunderland and trips to Crystal Palace and Middlesbrough over Arsenal’s next six league outings.

However, with the Gunners star seemingly disgruntled at his side’s lack of ambition, Numb is among those concerned about the Chilean’s scoring potential for the rest of the campaign.

Shunning FPL’s highest scoring player could prove to be a season-defining decision, which was an issue Demi discussed when he dropped by earlier this week to find out how your 50-50 calls have panned out.

Manchester City’s attackers, such as Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling, ruined many of the community’s double Gameweek plans and are now being jettisoned according to our Rough with the Smooth weekly score round-up.

Concerns were raised earlier this week by Chenku Zipped Up that the growth of FPL’s content and promotional activity had led to Fantasy managers being “spoonfed” too much information. This prompted a lengthy discussion on the media’s influence on how templates form over the season.

Later in the week, Shifty reassessed the issue to argue that savvy Fantasy manages can use this proliferation of FPL information and advice to their advantage, by deliberately targeting under the radar differentials.

Finally, the community was out in force this week to congratulate Optimus on the birth of his baby girl, Leah.

The Members Tables

For those looking to refresh their backlines once Gameweek 28’s blank fixtures are out of the way, my attacking defenders table offers a raft of candidates with points potential at both ends of the pitch.

With Hull City being among the minority of teams to play in the league this weekend, Papilo has cast his eye over the best Tigers to consider.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

In TorresMagic‘s Last Man Standing competition, Eunuch Jelly hit the top score in Gameweek 27 with 99. There are now 365 teams left after 62 were eliminated when the safety score was set at 55.

A Gameweek 27 score of 87 was enough to hand HuttonDressedAsLahm top spot in Red Lightning’s Top 10K Any Season.

Meanwhile, Dan Clapson retains the lead in Red Lightning’s January to May league.

Mark has now snatched top spot in the FFScout Moderators and Contributors league with a slender two-point lead over second-placed TorresMagic.

Meanwhile, Billy Ketsu is back in the lead in the FFScout Members league – that’s despite opting not to play his his Triple Captain chip and earning minus one points from Zlatan Ibrahimovic at home to Bournemouth.

Our main mini-league is still topped by Jatin Arutla. However he has slipped to third overall but is yet to play his Triple Captain chip.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round-ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spreadsheet or head-to-head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

If either Kane, Walker or Gabbi drop by 0.1m in the next couple of GW then I can bring all three in for Anichebe, Baines and Llorente (in that order). Chances? Kane won't be going down and I will be bringing him in before his price changes anyway, but the other two?

I agree but it is not beyond the realms of possibility. Walker is -60 and only needs 8000 more sales. Gabbi is -26 and needs 14k sales. They both still have triple red hours next to them even at this time of night too.

Thanks Diomande is there in the hope of 15 minutes and a point. Think he played a few minutes last week.
It eggs in a Liv, Everton, Swansea baskets though. Then again I can't see the logic in having defence playing attacking with a limited number of fixtures. Nobody from hammers in fact no players at all for that fixture does concern me a little bit.

I brought in Lanzini but would have preferred Antonio but can't afford Kane if I did. I am the same as you - the eggs I am missing are the Liverpool/Burnley ones and it worries me.

Cash for Alli in next week for Philips.
The hard call is whether I leave kaku in and wait on Kane for another week. Could kill me if he hauls but I think saints are solid enough. Risky game I am planning.

For those looking at West Ham assets, this will be a revealing GW.
Carroll, Snodgrass, Lanzini and Antonio have been on the pitch together at West Ham for a grand total of 15 minutes.
They were trailing 0-3 to Man City at the time, and played in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Antonio in the number 10 role.
Antonio does look by far the safest option for when Ayew comes on, due to his versatility, his engine, his performances and the fragility of others.
It's not an exact science but this has been Antonio's position since the turn of the year.
    GW20 - CF (4-3-3)
    GW21 - RWB (3-4-2-1)
    GW22 - CF (4-4-2)
    GW23 - 10 (4-2-3-1)
    GW24 - CF (4-4-2)
    GW25 - CF (4-2-3-1)
    GW26 - CF (4-2-3-1)
In 4 recent matches in the same team as Andy Carroll, Antonio has played in 3 different positions.

Ayew is A better FPL prospect than any of the other imo, pity not getting the minutes I would have had him in this week. I like Bilic but he has got to make up his mind on where Antonio plays.

Solid post. Snoddy potential has lowered as a FPL asset when he moved from Hull that's for sure. Lanzini has stepped up big time with Payet's departure. Fegguhi should get some play time too. 6 players will be competing for the front four spots with two holding midfielders

Just realized I need the Hull vs Swans game to be something like-

    Hull 2 Swansea 4

    Jakop pen save
Siggy and Llorente in the goals

Cant have 2 players from same country you know 😛

The thing is What if Eriksen and Alli dont score points and Kane scores. Yes triple up didnt work in that case cause Mids blanked fine but if you had Kane you would have got points.(maybe Penalty ) .

Plus many dont have that restriction so :).. i can understand the overkill but Kane is looking the deal right now

I dont think Kane is worth that price tag if you have enough captaincy options in team. Kane surely wont score a hatty every week, Alli/Eriksen's goals are worth 1pt more than him and they get 1CS pt.

Chances of Kane scoring and Alli/Eriksen not getting assists is low I guess?

I thought about dropping Alli this week for Coutinho and picking Kane for Aguero next week but it just doesnt sound right to drop an inform player and when I look at possible output, Kane is just too expensive for my side 😮

Obviously everything goes out of window if Eriksen/Alli stops performing and Kane do all stuff on his own...

This week's a wash. Trying to salvage what I can while looking forward.

    Heaton/Pickford
    Coleman/McAuley/Alonso/Pieters/Amat
    King/Snoddy/Sanchez/Sterling/Capoue
    Lukaku/CostaAguero

    For 4-pt hit Sanchez>Mane and Sterling>Siggy

Aguero>Kane once the new gw turns over. Thoughts?

    1. Phil Dagger ⭐
      • 9 Years
      9 years, 28 days ago

      Keep Sanchez no?
      Do Agurero to Llorente
      Sterling to Mane
      Capoue to Siggy (possibly)
All long term options (apart from Llorente)

Thanks- want to get Kane in ASAP, so the dilution of funds with Capone>Siggy might be too much. But good food for thought.
