Fresh from a lacklustre end to this season’s first double Gameweek, which culminated with Manchester City’s goalless draw against Stoke, the community is already looking ahead to the weekend’s fixtures and beyond.

Our resident scribes check out bandwagon chasing and captaincy options, while our hot topic discussions take in long-term attacking targets, the proliferation of Fantasy Football media and season-defining moves.

Hull City’s band of differentials, as well as defenders with attacking intent, are the focus of our Members table round up before we finish off with a look at those leading our community contests after Gameweek 27’s extended schedule.

The Community Articles

Ahead of the weekend’s reduced fixture list, in which just eight teams play, YMA has been taking a look at form and fixtures to run the rule over the best captaincy candidates.

For Kryten, bandwagon chasing and whether this strategy can reap immediate rewards, is one of the key issues to consider, particularly with many looking to make short-term moves to bolster their ailing Gameweek 28 teams.

Meanwhile, Kryten has been named community writer of the month, for February. He wins a £20 Amazon voucher after his troll hunting articles, which covered form and fixture miscreants to earn the most votes.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

With such a limited pool of players to choose from in Gameweek 28, hits are likely to be needed, according to Wild Rover who offered some timely advice on spending points.

But some managers’ squads will be so depleted that a Wildcard chip may be required. However, our hot topic on when to use this valuable chip suggested that its deployment later in the season could be far more profitable.

Good differentials will also be crucial to success, as we cast our eye over some of the best low-owned gems to consider this weekend.

Camarozz has been looking even further ahead to assess the ideal front three after this weekend’s streamlined schedule is out of the way.

Alexis Sanchez would ordinarily be a key long-term midfield target, with home encounters with West Ham and Sunderland and trips to Crystal Palace and Middlesbrough over Arsenal’s next six league outings.

However, with the Gunners star seemingly disgruntled at his side’s lack of ambition, Numb is among those concerned about the Chilean’s scoring potential for the rest of the campaign.

Shunning FPL’s highest scoring player could prove to be a season-defining decision, which was an issue Demi discussed when he dropped by earlier this week to find out how your 50-50 calls have panned out.

Manchester City’s attackers, such as Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling, ruined many of the community’s double Gameweek plans and are now being jettisoned according to our Rough with the Smooth weekly score round-up.

Concerns were raised earlier this week by Chenku Zipped Up that the growth of FPL’s content and promotional activity had led to Fantasy managers being “spoonfed” too much information. This prompted a lengthy discussion on the media’s influence on how templates form over the season.

Later in the week, Shifty reassessed the issue to argue that savvy Fantasy manages can use this proliferation of FPL information and advice to their advantage, by deliberately targeting under the radar differentials.

Finally, the community was out in force this week to congratulate Optimus on the birth of his baby girl, Leah.

The Members Tables

For those looking to refresh their backlines once Gameweek 28’s blank fixtures are out of the way, my attacking defenders table offers a raft of candidates with points potential at both ends of the pitch.

With Hull City being among the minority of teams to play in the league this weekend, Papilo has cast his eye over the best Tigers to consider.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

In TorresMagic‘s Last Man Standing competition, Eunuch Jelly hit the top score in Gameweek 27 with 99. There are now 365 teams left after 62 were eliminated when the safety score was set at 55.

A Gameweek 27 score of 87 was enough to hand HuttonDressedAsLahm top spot in Red Lightning’s Top 10K Any Season.

Meanwhile, Dan Clapson retains the lead in Red Lightning’s January to May league.

Mark has now snatched top spot in the FFScout Moderators and Contributors league with a slender two-point lead over second-placed TorresMagic.

Meanwhile, Billy Ketsu is back in the lead in the FFScout Members league – that’s despite opting not to play his his Triple Captain chip and earning minus one points from Zlatan Ibrahimovic at home to Bournemouth.

Our main mini-league is still topped by Jatin Arutla. However he has slipped to third overall but is yet to play his Triple Captain chip.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round-ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spreadsheet or head-to-head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

Why Lukaku is better captain option than Mane?

pens and you just dont know what you are going to get from both Liverpool or Mane..

Same could be said for Everton maybe.. but if they score a few.. Lukaku will sure be involved.

I don't think he is. I think Mane has a better fixture. Pool are more likely to score 4 or 5 than Everton are.

Burnley aren't good away, at all.

Argument is Pool share goals around. Everton don't tend to.

Pool sharing the goals mainly among front 3, no? And Mane looks very involved in most of attacking actions

I guess he's the focal point and is now scoring goals more often? Probably the "safe" option.

    Hello all,

    Currently on -4

    Jaku
Brunt, Funes Mori, Mawson (Alonso, Pieters)
    Mane, Firmino, Siggy, King (Sterling)
    Lukaku, Carroll, llorente

Worried about Firmino, but don't want to take a hit transferring him out in case he does play. Was thinking of doing Pieters to Coleman. I would start Firmino and bench Brunt (Not expecting more than 2 pts). If Firmino doesn't play, Brunt comes off the bench.

    Thoughts?

    Captaincy.
Liverpool have won 9, drawn 3 and lost 1 of their games at home this season. Scored 34 goals at home which is second best in the league. This includes games against bottom half sides such as:

    Stoke: 4-1
    West Ham: 2-2
    Watford: 6-1
    Leicester - 4-1
    Swansea: 2-3
    Hull: 5-1
    Sunderland: 2-0

They are playing on Sunday at home against the worst team away from home in the league (Burnley).

    Surely Mane(c) is the option.

Yep. Without Lukaku Mané the best option. With kaku I remain conflicted. Liv better fixture but he's not a focal point like Lukaku.

Everton also have a good home record. They have won 8, drawn 4 and lost 1 of their games at home this season. Scored 27 goals at home which is fourth best in the league. This includes games against top half sides such as:

      Spurs: 1-1
      Man City: 4-0
      Liverpool: 0-1
      Arsenal: 2-1
      Man Utd: 1-1
      Stoke: 1-0

They are playing on Saturday at home against the 11th best team away from home in the league (WBA).

Everton are expected to win, but not by as big a margin as Liverpool.

It think it's the case for most of us with WC's as well, because there will be at least one DGW (probably more) before the big DGW (assuming it GW37)

Assuming Aguero will turn into Kane next week anyway. How about a one week punt on origi ?

    Jakupovic [Heaton]
    McAuley Coleman Baines [Alonso Holebas]
Mane Coutinho Siggy [Phillips Sane ]
    Lukaku Llorente [Anichebe]

    On -4, 8.0ITB

Only option currenly considering is Phillips to T.Caroll to switch back to 3-4-3 doing Anichebe => Kane
Also frees up funds for Mane => Alexis or Sane => Alli for example.

    A) Go for -8 as it is the only week when T.Caroll worth something and I will get 0 from Phillips
    B) Hold
