Fresh from a lacklustre end to this season’s first double Gameweek, which culminated with Manchester City’s goalless draw against Stoke, the community is already looking ahead to the weekend’s fixtures and beyond.

Our resident scribes check out bandwagon chasing and captaincy options, while our hot topic discussions take in long-term attacking targets, the proliferation of Fantasy Football media and season-defining moves.

Hull City’s band of differentials, as well as defenders with attacking intent, are the focus of our Members table round up before we finish off with a look at those leading our community contests after Gameweek 27’s extended schedule.

The Community Articles

Ahead of the weekend’s reduced fixture list, in which just eight teams play, YMA has been taking a look at form and fixtures to run the rule over the best captaincy candidates.

For Kryten, bandwagon chasing and whether this strategy can reap immediate rewards, is one of the key issues to consider, particularly with many looking to make short-term moves to bolster their ailing Gameweek 28 teams.

Meanwhile, Kryten has been named community writer of the month, for February. He wins a £20 Amazon voucher after his troll hunting articles, which covered form and fixture miscreants to earn the most votes.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

With such a limited pool of players to choose from in Gameweek 28, hits are likely to be needed, according to Wild Rover who offered some timely advice on spending points.

But some managers’ squads will be so depleted that a Wildcard chip may be required. However, our hot topic on when to use this valuable chip suggested that its deployment later in the season could be far more profitable.

Good differentials will also be crucial to success, as we cast our eye over some of the best low-owned gems to consider this weekend.

Camarozz has been looking even further ahead to assess the ideal front three after this weekend’s streamlined schedule is out of the way.

Alexis Sanchez would ordinarily be a key long-term midfield target, with home encounters with West Ham and Sunderland and trips to Crystal Palace and Middlesbrough over Arsenal’s next six league outings.

However, with the Gunners star seemingly disgruntled at his side’s lack of ambition, Numb is among those concerned about the Chilean’s scoring potential for the rest of the campaign.

Shunning FPL’s highest scoring player could prove to be a season-defining decision, which was an issue Demi discussed when he dropped by earlier this week to find out how your 50-50 calls have panned out.

Manchester City’s attackers, such as Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling, ruined many of the community’s double Gameweek plans and are now being jettisoned according to our Rough with the Smooth weekly score round-up.

Concerns were raised earlier this week by Chenku Zipped Up that the growth of FPL’s content and promotional activity had led to Fantasy managers being “spoonfed” too much information. This prompted a lengthy discussion on the media’s influence on how templates form over the season.

Later in the week, Shifty reassessed the issue to argue that savvy Fantasy manages can use this proliferation of FPL information and advice to their advantage, by deliberately targeting under the radar differentials.

Finally, the community was out in force this week to congratulate Optimus on the birth of his baby girl, Leah.

The Members Tables

For those looking to refresh their backlines once Gameweek 28’s blank fixtures are out of the way, my attacking defenders table offers a raft of candidates with points potential at both ends of the pitch.

With Hull City being among the minority of teams to play in the league this weekend, Papilo has cast his eye over the best Tigers to consider.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

In TorresMagic‘s Last Man Standing competition, Eunuch Jelly hit the top score in Gameweek 27 with 99. There are now 365 teams left after 62 were eliminated when the safety score was set at 55.

A Gameweek 27 score of 87 was enough to hand HuttonDressedAsLahm top spot in Red Lightning’s Top 10K Any Season.

Meanwhile, Dan Clapson retains the lead in Red Lightning’s January to May league.

Mark has now snatched top spot in the FFScout Moderators and Contributors league with a slender two-point lead over second-placed TorresMagic.

Meanwhile, Billy Ketsu is back in the lead in the FFScout Members league – that’s despite opting not to play his his Triple Captain chip and earning minus one points from Zlatan Ibrahimovic at home to Bournemouth.

Our main mini-league is still topped by Jatin Arutla. However he has slipped to third overall but is yet to play his Triple Captain chip.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round-ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spreadsheet or head-to-head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

Just wondering whether there's any correlation between Antonio's big scores and Lanzini's?

In general have they both done well at the same time i.e. when WHU have had a convincing victory rather then in different game different times?

If there is a correlation then perhaps there is no need for us to be concerned that one might score significantly higher than the other in the coming weeks.

    1. MTPockets
      9 years, 4 months ago

Well they both correlate-ish with Carroll. So depends whether think it's any combo or just the game.

      1. Uncle Gamst
        • 15 Years
        9 years, 4 months ago

Agreed re Carroll - as far as I can see (either with or without Carroll) and excluding Antonio's great start to the season, then with some exceptions, many of their main scores seem to be in the same games:

        GW5
        Lanzini 7, Antonio 7

        GW12
        Lanzini 6, Antonio 6

        GW15
        Lanzini 2, Antonio 7

        GW17
        Lanzini 45 mins, Antonio 6

        GW18
        Lanzini 0 mins, Antonio 8

        GW21
        Lanzini 9, Antonio 15

        GW22

        Lanzini 9, Antonio 5

        GW25
        Lanzini 13, Antonio 2

        GW27
        Lanzini10, Antonio 0 mins

or am I wanting to see something that isn't there?

Morning, TM, I'm off to Scotland in a minute for a run, but obviously the City double didn't work out great and I've done a -12 to undo the damage (or cause more damage). Really wanted West Ham mid and King due to price but ended up getting King, Cout and Carroll for West Ham 'coverage'. As a Forest fan, I liked the idea of getting Antonio again, but can't have them all. Rank drop ahead.

I misread your comment at first and thought you were running to Scotland! I hoped you lived close to the border 😉

Thank you for sharing your moves. I think Carroll could be a very good buy, I'm nervous about not having him. I have Snodgrass as West Ham coverage, though he hasn't done as well as I'd hoped since I got him.

Good luck as always, not that you really need it! Enjoy your run in Scotland.

Cheers, TM. Bedfordshire to Edinburgh would be a challenge! Flew up and run was 15k up the fells. Was great.

Was listening to 3pm games and spewing when King missed a pen and Antonio (as above!) scored, but can't complain in the end. The week of who did or didn't have King, eh?

You are not alone in stupidville. I, too, made the premature ejacutransfer. However, I think it would be double trouble if we actually sold Firm for another hit, and he played, and outscored the replacement. Then we might as well just resign from the game due to sheer and utter total embarrassment.

Carroll if you knew he'd make both games. Llorente not a bad option though.

Each of these will be for a hit... if so, how many? and who?....

    (-4, -8 or -12?)

    Kun > A.Carroll
    PvA > Mawson / Maguire / Robertson
    Phillips > King / Fraser / Antonio

      Defiitely Kun > Carroll.
Leave the second one as I'm not sure any will return a profit.
      Phillips to either King/Antonio.

PvA is out 3 weeks so you'd get the hit back easily over that time.

Should I do Diomande or Kun to Caroll for a hit? If I sell Kun I can get some minutes from Dio and 11 players. My plan is to do Kun to Kane anyway next week, but you never know with injuries or something else can happen.

Good fixtures but poor form. I'd keep Defoe personally of you think he'll do well.

Cheers - over planned for it to be honest. I better jump in rank otherwise I'll cry. I need some points in the bank to do some transfers out.

    Right I have 10 players, already on a -4, shall I do Allen -> King (-8) to field 11?

After days of debating I have done it.
    Sanchez to Mane -4 (-8)

    GW 29 trasnfer plans:
    Aguero to Kane
    Eriksen to Sanchez (-4)

No Spurs midfield, but I feel Kane compensates. Team for GW 29

    Pickford
    Alonso Coleman Brunt
    Sanchez Mane Siggy King
    Kane Lukaku Carroll

    Foster de Roon Pieters Robertson
