A trio of Josh Kings saved the Gameweek for the ScoutCast regulars, steering Jonty, Andy and myself to respectability, despite a scattering of ill-fated transfer hits. Meanwhile, AZ drops in with his own unique solution to the curtailed Gameweek 28, as he deals a controversial early Wildcard to help prepare for the choppy waters.

The Wildcard is a key focus of this week’s episode, as we extend our recent Hot Topic to the ScoutCast airwaves, arguing the optimum time to activate the most precious of chips.

Elsewhere, we spare a moment to weigh up the “essential” status of the aforementioned Cherries midfielder, consider the recent unrest surrounding Sanchez and Lukaku and discuss the fall-out from Kane’s twanged ankle.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Normally this would be save BUT mini league is only thing i play for, leading by 40, main 2 rivals have Costa.

    Lorente to Costa for -4?

    Jakop
    Brunt Alonso Coleman
    Snodgrass Hazard Alli Sigg
    Carroll Llorente Lukaku

Foster Robertson Fletcher Pieters 8.4 m ITB 0FT

(Later plan Carroll to Gabbi and Snod to Redmond(?), 31 Sigg to Sanchez)

    Thanks for any thoughts

Too early to block a ML rival and Llorente has Bourenomuth. Could easily score and not like Costa is getting hattricks every week.

If anything, maybe get Sanchez this week for Snoddy? Not sure Snoddy is a nailed starter anymore. But otherwise looks good to save.

Sanchez to Snod could happen, been tempted but it then precludes me from another 'big' forward. Thanks, will think on it

Carroll to Costa? I guess sell whoever you think scores less if Costa is a must.

I would dump Llorente this week if fit in your case. Could potentially outscore Costa. Snodgrass out for a hit could be worth it. If they don't have Sanchez, he could be a good differential for you to gamble on since you'll want him eventually anyway.

keep the ft for the international break. means you can make one early and hold one, or take a hit for 3 players. pretty powerful when theres a two week break.

Who to sit from this front 8? I'm thinking either Firmino or Llorente, given they are coming off injury and may not get a full 90.

    Sanchez, SIggy, Firmino, Mane, Coutinho
    Lukaku, Defoe, Llorente

If Liv/City is high scoring, you could rake in the points with your current team. Funes Mori is a worry since he didn't start last game though. You could save and still get a haul this week though.

based on history, I'd have more faith in Liv showing up for a big game like this. Could lose Sterling to Alli if you don't like having all your eggs in one basket.

    hello All,

On WC and just trying to sort out GK/Def

Which combination would you prefer to fill out the below? (Currently Heaton/Mawson fill those spots)

    XXXXX, Pickford
    Alonso, Walker, Valencia, Yoshida XXXX
    Sanchez, Mane, Alli, Siggy, King
    Costa, Lukaku, Gabbi

    Options:
    A) Caballero, Mawson (0.6m ITB)
    B) Caballero, Williams (0.0m ITB)
    C) LLoris, Britos (0.0m ITB)
    D) Courtois, 3.9 (0.0 ITB)

I usually go cheap on GK and have had Heaton/Jaku since GW4, but looking at the schedules, I believe Spurs and Chelsea have the potential for the most CS the rest of the year. Therefore, I am considering spending a bit more for a premium keeper and don't think it would overly hurt the rest of my team selection. Of the premium, I am leaning towards Courtois so I don’t max out my Spurs assets for when Kane returns. Appreciate any feedback.

Consider Valdes with Heaton? Valdes fixtures ok could have 34 double and Heatons fixtures get better when Valdes turn for the worst.

      1. Jayv807

Trying to get two keepers with DGWs now on the WC, so I don't have to be bothered using any future transfers to get a GK later. Valdes fixtures do turn terrible in about 4 GW's, which put me off him in my team.

Ok how does this front 8 look from 30 on?

I will play AOA with it in 30
As 7 are homers except Alli who is the exception and all fairly decent fixtures, the plan after than is to bench 1 of the front 3 depending on fixtures.

    Sanchez Hazard Mane Alli Siggy
    Llorente Deeney Gabbi

    1. Jayv807
      • 8 Years

definitely a different approach. All three forwards have some solid fixtures upcoming so could pay off. Some would say benching headace, but I don't mind having options.

I know most may disagree, but you could benefit from a WC. You've got McCauley against ARS, RFM may not start, Robertson against Arsenal and Olsson unlikely to play. Then you have Phillips and Snodgrass to deal with as well. If you not keen on the WC, then definitely have to do something about Phillips/Snodgrass.

With a couple of ML friends, we decided to set up a 'World Cup' mini-league just for fun, where the teams are made up of one nationality only. We've made up teams from

    England
    Ireland
    France
    Spain
    Belgium
    Netherlands
    South America
    Africa

OK, the last two are not countries but we got carried away a little bit! Care to make any predictions for the winner?

I think Belgium looks really strong with Hazard, de Bruyne and Lukaku, while South America is very top-heavy with Sanchez and Aguero and lots of cheap players. Africa is surprisingly weak - turns out the majority of African Premier League players are defensive midfielders!

Costa in my opinion. I'm on Lukaku, Costa and Aguero at the moment, plan is for Aguero to become Gabbiadini in a couple of weeks.

Yoshida from SOU is the trendy pick at 4.3m and currently starting. But you already have Cedric. I couldn't recommend anyone else to be honest, as it is just trying to pick the best from the worst really.

Agree with above you are just losing money sitting on Kane. Maybe not Costa if it does not allow money to upgrade to Spurs mid and Sanchez down the line. I have similar defence and it don't look good from 30 onwards so that will need some changes too.

      C) Stones -> Valencia

      Grant

      Aguero, Lukaku, Barnes

I'd move brunt to Valencia instead of Stones. WB has horrible fixtures, where City have an easy run in and Stones could potentially be of use.

Good question mate. If it doesn't mess with his head (why can't he keep quiet about these things?) and he concentrates on his job - scoring goals - he should be okay. Let's face it, the days of top players staying at 1 club for all their career are over, and have been for decades bar a handful. He is basically playing to improve his own value as a commodity on the world market, same as Sanchez and good luck to them but wish they'd 'do it' with a bit more grace and tactfulness lol 😉

Exactly, every player's ambition is to win trophies and all the accolades in football, but he's also undermining Everton with his comments. It's quite obvious that Koeman in unhappy with what Kaku said:

"Of course I am not happy about that interview. If Everton is not a club with a lot of ambition I would not be manager." (The Guardian)

But he'll definitely start for them as he is their star player, just wondering if there will be any retrospective actions imposed on the player....

Could swing both ways though, he could probably demolish Hull tomorrow.

Your hits haven't quite paid dividends, bad luck. I've been a bit lucky tbh, haven't nailed it by any means but somehow still just about moving in the right direction lol 😉

          Heaton
          Alonso, Baines, Brunt
          Sanchez, Firmino, Barkley, Sigurdsson
          Lukaku, Llorente, Barnes

          Jakupovic, T.Carroll, Robertson, Friend

          A) Play Brunt or Robertson (Who?)

          B) T.Carroll to Alli (Play AOA). Next week Firmino to Carroll and Barnes to Costa (-4)

          C) Firmino to Alli and Barnes to Costa (-4) (With option A)

The main question is if Firmino and Barnes would provide points or not. They both are so unpredictable

I'd do Barnes to Costa for sure. If Firmino is fit, I would probably consider Brunt to Valencia for a hit. Should make up the -4 against MID and you would likely keep him for the rest of the year. I believe you would still have enough in the bank to swap Firmino to Alli the next week if you still want him. just pay attention to price increases obviously.
