The Gameweek begins at The Hawthorns as West Brom host Arsenal to offer immediate interest for Fantasy managers.

Alexis Sanchez is the main focus. Currently owned by a modest 26%, despite remaining the top scoring asset this season, he is surely a key target for the season run-in given Arsenal’s looming double Gameweeks. However, with obvious unrest in the Gunners camp surrounding the Chilean, his performance and output today will come under scrutiny.

Sanchez starts, although it’s not yet clear if he will lead the attack or be deployed wide on the left, with Danny Welback also named in Arsene Wenger’s line-up.

For West Brom, our expectations are far more modest.

Gareth McAuley has served us well over the season and, with six goals from set-piece scenarios, he will be an obvious threat to Arsenal today. Aside from that, there is limited interest in the Baggies’ camp, although Chris Brunt’s remaining owners will be willing him to deliver on his return to the starting XI having been denied returns in recent weeks.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Although fixtures aren't released yet, is WC this week reasonable providing you still stack the players with games to be rearranged?

I can get the following with £1.6ITB for Lukaku > Ibra for DGWs

    Pickford - Jaku
    Alonso - Coleman - Valencia - Vertonghen - Yoshida
    Sanchez - Alli - Eriksen - Pedro/Mata - Carroll
    Costa - Lukaku - Gabby

Fans didn't make the problems up, they reflect what the team is showing not vice versa. Maybe it's partially true, but the team's reaction has to be such that changes the way things are going, not to drown in the misery they've created.

    3. diesel001
      • 9 Years
      9 years, 4 months ago

Partly agree. But 75% of the problem is the attacking midfield do not work hard enough. They don't put their foot in, they don't track back, they don't want to defend at set pieces etc. If you are Barca, PSG, Real Madrid or Bayern in their domestic leagues you can get away with it. But Arsenal, Liverpool etc. cannot.

They (we) are actually the worst. I posted a couple of weeks ago hoping for Wenger to spite them by playing a horrible team week-in, week-out. What does he have to lose anyway?

Sorry but the hate for Wenger is pathetic. The Invincibles have bought him a lifetime pass for me, I don't care how long ago it was, any manager who can orchestrate that level of greatness is always a hero to me.

Recent memories are 100% qualification for the champions league - the only club in the premier league to do so.

They are still up there with Liverpool etc who are being lauded.

For me the issue is that Wenger is a very good manager - but he used to be great.

    2. Ravager

And that's understandable. He did well...at a point in time. But there had to be a moment when he had to step back and let someone else come in to refresh the squad. So yes he had amazing times with the club. But at this point, he's stagnated for a while now.

I also think this underscores the singular greatness of SAF. Being able to go out on top even with a skeleton of the former great United teams might have been as great a job as the treble. Their downturn since then notwithstanding, it was an incredible exit.

Just wish differently for a manager I love, but it doesn't look like that will be the case.
