Marcus Rashford is a doubt for Manchester United’s trip to Arsenal. Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho could be back in contention for the visit of Southampton, while Benik Afobe is sidelined for Bournemouth’s clash with Stoke.

Granit Xhaka is ruled out of Arsenal’s home clash against Manchester United, after taking a kick to his calf in the 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. Shkodran Mustafi has returned to normal training and back-up goalkeeper David Ospina is also back to full fitness.

United boss Jose Mourinho revealed after the 1-0 win over Celta Vigo in the UEFA Europa League that Marcus Rashford had started the match with a small problem, which eventually led to the forward being withdrawn. He is a doubt for the trip to the Emirates, then, while Ashley Young appeared to pick up a hamstring problem last night, and also looks likely to miss out.

Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho is back running and has stepped up his recovery from the dead leg that forced him off at Watford on Monday night. Skipper Jordan Henderson is still sidelined for the visit of Southampton.

West Ham United duo Andy Carroll and Arthur Masuaku are both doubts for tonight’s home meeting with Tottenham Hotspur. Hammers boss Slaven Bilic was hoping the pair would be able to train yesterday in order to prove their fitness. Carroll has missed the last two matches with a groin problem, while Masuaku has been struggling with a sore foot.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the trip to the London Stadium, although Danny Rose remains out, with Pochettino hoping the defender will be able to return to full training next week following a knee injury.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe won’t risk midfielder Dan Gosling (calf) for the home meeting with Stoke City. Forward Benik Afobe is also sidelined with the hamstring injury he suffered in last weekend’s 1-0 win over Sunderland.

Saido Berahino has emerged as a doubt for Stoke’s trip to the Vitality Stadium due to illness. Mark Hughes is also waiting on Jonathan Walters, who will be checked again today as he continues to deal with a knee problem.

Defenders Ben Mee, Michael Keane and Stephen Ward are all injury concerns for Burnley manager Sean Dyche ahead of the home encounter with West Bromwich Albion.

West Brom head coach Tony Pulis will again be without Matt Phillips and Hal Robson-Kanu after the pair missed the 1-0 defeat to Leicester City due to hamstring injuries suffered in training.

Hull City head coach Marco Silva has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the home fixture against Sunderland, although Omar Elabdellaoui remains out with a back problem, despite the defender returning to training this week.

Leicester City manager Craig Shakespeare revealed captain Wes Morgan will miss the home fixture against Watford due to a hamstring injury. Robert Huth suffered a knock to his ankle last weekend, but the German has trained fully, and is “raring to go” according to Shakespeare.

Miguel Britos has been ruled out of the trip to the King Power Stadium with the muscle injury that forced him off during the 1-0 defeat to Liverpool. Hornets head coach Walter Mazzarri will make a decision on Jose Holebas (foot) today, though Younes Kaboul and Craig Cathcart remain out.

Swansea City winger Jefferson Montero looks set to miss the rest of the season with the hamstring injury he suffered in last weekend’s 1-1 draw against Manchester United. Fernando Llorente missed training during the early part of the week due to a stomach bug, but he was involved fully on Thursday and is expected to start when the Swans host Everton tomorrow.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman will again have to make do without midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin for the trip to the Liberty Stadium due to a thigh problem.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tonight’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

Essentially that's a -4 (or -8 even) to simply swap a Man City defender with a Tottenham one, as I assume you wouldn't be looking to play Albrighton or Capoue anyway. Given that (on paper) Man City have more appealing fixtures in DGW 37 and that it's best to avoid taking minuses for defenders (who tend to have a low ceiling and might not make up the points lost, even if they do well), I'd say don't do it...

      1. The Big Fella
        • 9 Years
        9 years, 2 months ago

Thanks for the detailed reply (genuinely! nobody is giving them atm)! However, it would be free. I am on WC so all transfers are without points reductions. Still advise the same thing?

        1. Cruz88
          • 10 Years
          9 years, 2 months ago

Ah ok. Well in that case it's essentially Tottenham and Arsenal defenders vs Arsenal and City, and it comes down to which you think is best. Tottenham do have the best defence in the league, and although Man City have better fixtures on paper they do tend to be weak defensively....so probably now i'd say Cech, Vert and Capoue (can you fit Albrighton instead of Capoue though? As Capoue might be next to useless on a bench boost, and Albrighton has two fixtures)

          1. The Big Fella
            • 9 Years
            9 years, 2 months ago

I am 0.4 short of getting Albrighton. I debated Ndidi from Leicester but I am 0.1 out for him. Any other suggestions?

          2. The Big Fella
            • 9 Years
            9 years, 2 months ago

Also, Watford/Capoue DO have a DGW. They have Everton and Chelsea who may have won the league by then.

            1. Cruz88
              • 10 Years
              9 years, 2 months ago

Ah didn't realise. Still, I'd rather have the more resurgent Leicester players than any Watford ones. What about Cab, Vert and Albrighton?

              1. The Big Fella
                • 9 Years
                9 years, 2 months ago

I agree. Albrighton is also on set pieces. I actually had this before - Monreal, Albrighton and Caballero but this way I can tap into the, as you say, best defence in the league's DGW next week and also Arsenal will be fighting until the end for top 4.

The only other alternative would be to sell Gabbi for Anichebe but I don't fancy that or Capoue to an attacking midfielder for Sunderland but I don't fancy that either as they will already be on holiday. 🙁 🙁

                1. Cruz88
                  • 10 Years
                  9 years, 2 months ago

Yeah you won't want any Sunderland players now I wouldn't think. Arsenal will be fighting for top 4 but Spurs for top spot (until it's no longer possible, then they fight for 2nd), so Spurs are a great option. At the end of the day if it comes down to one Spurs defender vs one Arsenal one then based on season form it has to be the Spurs one.

                  1. The Big Fella
                    • 9 Years
                    9 years, 2 months ago

Cheers. I'll stick with what I've got. Vert has WHU who are hardly in form tonight and then DGW next week plus 2 DGW for my keepers and Capoue will, let's face it, probably get 4 points the same as Albrighton.

                    I owe you a pint

I'm battling relegation in my ML (yes we have 2 divisions). My WC currently contains Gabriel but Mustafi is forcing a reshuffle. Likely at the expense of Alli

    A) Gabriel, Alli and Pick > Vertonghen, Pedro and Cech
    B) Gabriel, Alli > Vertonghen and Sane
    C) Gabriel to a SGW 4.8 Def. Maguire?

    A right?
