Double Gameweek 37 enters its fifth day of action this evening, serving up two more fixtures to entertain Fantasy managers.

Arsenal welcome Sunderland to the Emirates in the 7.45pm kick-off as Alexis Sanchez looks to add to his goal and assist haul in Saturday’s demolition of Stoke.

Captained by 10.6% of FPL managers, the Chilean is the second most popular armband pick for the Gameweek. As expected, he has shrugged off a leg problem to start against the Black Cats, while fellow weekend scorers Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud are also named in the first XI as Arsene Wenger’s side attempt to keep their hopes of a top-four finish alive.

Man City entertain West Bromwich Albion in the second match of their Double Gameweek at 8pm.

Sergio Aguero returns to the starting XI alongside Gabriel Jesus as Raheem Sterling drops to the bench for the home side. The Argentine produced zero points as a sub at home to Leicester on Saturday, though boasting a 17% ownership, he is City’s most captained player (8.1%) for their pair of fixtures.

The top transfer target for Double Gameweek 37, Jesus rewarded his 217,000+ new owners with an eight-point haul against the Foxes, while Leroy Sane’s 7% backers will be hoping for more of the same after he delivered a season-high 11 points in the weekend win.

I'm beginning to think it's not worth gambling-captained Kane over Sanchez as differential to catch ML and now 3rd place may overtake me. Whole gameweek seems to have gone ML leaders way-could I have predicted it? Holgate subbed early, ML leader getting Azpi vs my Alonso. ML Captained Sanchez who looked injured in last game and could so easily have been subbed before he scored. Hey ho luck of the draw and reason we love the game......

Captain punts a mistake of mine this year. Too much downside to being wrong alone vs wrong together.

His Azpi vs your Alonso I assume is because he didn't have Alonso earlier, which means joke really is on him for losing out on all those points throughout the season.

The buzz around Holgate off at halftime created clearly shows it was a shocker.

The injury happened after the team was set, so no way you could've predicted it.
Taking a gamble like that this late in the season is fine if you try to catch your ML leader.

In my opinion you should look for those decisions that put you into the situation where you had to gamble to catch up instead of second guessing your calculated gamble in retrospect.

Just following on from dgw talk, I have a few points on this..
    1. Play the wildcard as close as possible to the big DGW's so you can assess who is entering form going into the dgw, potential injuries, who might be rested.

    2. Quality over quantity, it was correct to go for all the big hitters in 37 at the expense of other areas leading to having a bench of players like Pickford, Holgate, Stephens, Anichebe etc, however maybe it wasn't best to play the BB in 37 given these players weren't expected to get many points?

    3. Picked 100% nailed on players. Need I say more? if a player is at risk of not playing, don't pick him.

    1. 1966 was a great year for E…

I think so. Sure there may be a lot of people who used the WC early and benefitted from it but I think with careful planning the strongest move is always going to be to save the WC for right before the dgw's.

      About #1:
Some of those who played WC early claim to have gotten around 50 points of value off of the early WC. That would indicate that you could still swap all the players you want before DGW and still come out ahead in the standings (who seriously swapped more than 12 players before this DGW)?

      1. Harper_
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member
        • 11 Years

I'm sure many of those who played the WC earlier also took a lot of hits in order to gain the players they wanted for DGW's 36 and 37 later on. I'm amazed if there was anyone who played the early WC and didn't take a single point hit after that. So perhaps some of the gain created from it was negated by this.

          • 9 Years

I'm not sure you got the point.

          To make it clear:
People claime to have gained somewhere around 50 points on early WC just a few weeks after it was played (AZ is a good example, and they talked about early WC on the scoutcast).

One could then play the game like one normally would.
(One would probably still have a more solid team for a long time)

Then when the rest WC you can simply do as many trades as you wish.

I swapped 9 players on WC. That's 36 points. If I had gained 50 from early WC I would've netted 14 points from early WC.

Sure a -36 would look bad, and would probably not be worth it for that GW, but that would just indicate that it's even a bigger benefit to WC early.

Currently on 144 before bonus and very happy I played an early WC. Just needed careful planning

Completely agree with 2 and 3, although you can get quality and quantity if you TV is good enough (was lucky enough to have a TV of about 109M which has helped a lot with BB planning).

can't say I agree with A. wildcarded gw 30 and it has worked a charm, allowing big scores for every dgw with good planning
