In yet another tense final day, Ben Crabtree has been crowned the Fantasy Premier League champion for 2016/17.

Nestled in the top ten since Gameweek 28, Ben – who made just a single four-point hit in the final 11 Gameweeks –
claimed top spot for the first time in the very final round of fixtures.

Trailing Uwais Ahmed by two points heading into today’s deadline, Ben went ahead before kick-off following Uwais’ four-point transfer hit.

That saw Liverpool pair Adam Lallana and Philippe Coutinho swapped in for Spurs’ Dele Alli and Leroy Sane of Manchester City – trades that would eventually prove decisive in the battle at the top.

Ben – with two free transfers – made equally radical transfer moves, shifting out Eden Hazard and Victor Anichebe for Bournemouth’s Junior Stanislas and Chelsea’s Diego Costa.

Starting on Ben’s bench, the Cherries midfielder was the makeweight for the gutsy signing of Costa, although, on the day, it was Stanislas who was to prove the unlikely hero.

He scored the opening goal of the day and, with Josh King in Ben’s starting XI but missing out through injury, those points from the bench helped him extend an early lead.

The Stanislas strike, together with assists from Christian Eriksen and Leroy Sane, saw Ben seize a 12-point advantage heading into half-time.

While Uwais quickly countered with early second-half goals from his signings Lallana and Coutinho, Ben edged further ahead with an assist from his own Gameweek 38 capture, Costa.

The tide looked to be turning back in Uwais’ favour when Cesc Fabregas produced one of two assists in the second period. However, Ben Davies’ strike for Spurs on 84 minutes in their 7-1 rout of Hull City was to deal the killer blow.

While Uwais edged the bonus points on the final whistle, the two awarded to Stanislas on Ben’s bench, introduced as the auto-sub for King, were to take him to a final tally of 97. That surpassed Uwais final tally by three points on the day, and by a five-point margin in the overall ranks.

A proven FPL manager of some pedigree, Ben bettered his previous best rank of 353rd back in the 2011/12 season to become the FPL’s latest champion.

Huge congratulations go to Ben from all at Fantasy Football Scout, and also to Uwais who fought a valiant battle to give us a dramatic final day.

Elsewhere, Bibek Thapa from Nepal stormed to a 99 – 68 victory over Polish manager Peter B to claim the FPL cup.

Many congratulations go to Bibek.

We will have further post-season coverage coming up in the next 24-hours, as we round up the winners of this season’s Scout Leagues and Cups.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Personally voted for Carroll, his volley was hit far more sweetly than cans, more Liverpool fans I guess.

Yeah, some basic mistakes including no GW38 transfer.
          Think he's about 14th.
Have you at 7th and myself at 11th.

Hard to look past Lukaku(c) in for his 4 goals. Perhaps King just before his hat-trick... or possibly even McAuley in GW6 😀

I was so worried about him hauling vs Bournemouth, but it would have been a -8 or sell Ibra to get him in. Not owning Kaku that week was my lowest point of the season.

Firmy to Erik GW16 - Erik stayed in my team for the rest of the season, and GW16 was probably the moment my season turned around.

Lol, love it. Do as I say, not as I do, haha. Firmy did me proud early doors. I kept him through my WC, unlike many who sold him early. It was hard to let him go when he was nailed in a free flowing Pool team, but Erik looked too hard to ignore.

Yoshida & Davies both brought in on GW30 Wildcard and were fantastic.

There was a lot of debate at the time about saving Wildcards etc but it turns out it was 100% the right decision for me. Only had one red arrow from then until the end of the season and finished top 20k.

            That's what I'm talking about.
I had a very high scoring season with Suarez.
That was the first time I got into the 10k club 2k I think I did. Very boring, just captained Suarez 90% of the time.

I can't believe that the most high scoring gw in I've personally had in history was over shadowed by my mini league rival and eventual winner scoring similar points.

The last two weeks have been crazy scores. I went with Jesus (c) in the hole Kane would be kept quiet. That didn't go well.

Auch same thing I.did in dgw37 with TC. I went Jesus over Alexis. That was a bit rubbish seeing the Alexis haul there in midfield.
Can't complain though. I kept a 50 point lead and extended it a bit in gw38 with Kane captain.
Best luck next time. I suppose we've all learnt to Never underrate the power of the golden boot battle

So guys, It's been a crazy few weeks. My worst OR since my opening season playing this game (in my ninth season). So having all but given up hope, I kinda salvaged my sorry year.

In GW35 - my Overall Rank was 489,556... never thinking I could achieve a five figure rank,
But 3 crazy GWs later I ended up on a semi-respectable rank of 95K.

This is the last gameweek in Serbian league and Partizan celebrating their title. What do you think?

Congrats to those who did well.

To the lesser lights like myself this was my worst season ever and I've been playing 10 years. From game week 6 a succession of red arrows and continuous captaincy fails. It would be nice to see where I went wrong. Kun was a major factor and failing to get Sanchez sooner.

However, rose over 600k in the last three game weeks to 264k. Another three or four weeks and I would have won FPL ;).

      Have a good off season.

Thanks. Something similar here I was at 2.5 k after 6 weeks and then had 10 reds in a row to go outside top 100k. Never really recovered until the last 2-3 weeks.

Sigh, can't believe this is the last Gameweek of the season, and of all the Gameweeks I prepared, the final Gameweek is the week that I missed the deadline.

Davies on the bench and armband on Jesus. Could of gotten a possible 103 instead of 88. Not too bad, but only have myself to blame. I wanted to wait for late any late injury news before I make any decisions.

It's okay. Next season is only... roughly 3 months of reach...

All games being on a Sunday is a bit weird so easy to forget.
If I changed my team before kick off it could have been to take armband off Kane so lucky I left it alone.

This gameweek was like a microcosm of the season for me, with one good call but also one regret.

The good call - resisting the Hazard to Coutinho move, and using my 1 free transfer to get in Matip for Brunt. Sure, Coutinho in the end got 1 more point than Hazard, but Matip got a clean sheet, unlike Brunt or any of my other defenders. So, net result - 3 points up.

The regret - when I found out about King's injury, I deliberated taking a hit to get a replacement in. That would've been either a like-for-like (King to either Zaha or Stanislas), or Llorente in for Gabbiadini and playing 3-4-3. Had I been bolder, chances are it would've worked out - unless I ended up getting Zaha that is!

Still, I got a respectable score of 87, but I can't shake the feeling that it could've been more, like my season.

2,038. I'll be very happy with that once the dust has all settled, for now I'm a tiny bit disappointed I didn't stay inside that top 2k like last week.

Jesus, Alonso and a fit Kompany for sure and probably Kane even though his price will be very restrictive.

      Morning all!

Budgie's season similar to last. A big comeback in the second half - 11 out of the last 14 green arrows rising from 226K to 11K

This is the third season of budgie trying hard and it's been finishes of 13K, 11K, 11k. Still trying to crack that elusive 10K. Season before it was not captaining Giroud on the final day. This season did everything I could, only 7 points away.

Next year is my top 10K year!

Thanks for the advice and banter along the way. See you all around

Very consistent BB. You have to crack it next year

I am getting consistent too but in the 30 to 50k bracket

Thank you to everyone in this community and especially the ones who have given me advice over the past few months. I discovered this site in the second half of the season and managed 10 straight greens in the final 10 gameweeks to finish 27k. First season of FPL and will definitely be back!

its worth paying the membership, the stat tables, tickers and comparison tools have made me rise rank every year since joining. this season i'd be third in the MODs league behing TM... if i was a MOD :/ 🙂

Looks like DZ has started. Thanks to ye all for advice over the year and for listening to my "advice"

How quiet does it get over the summer or are we in planning mode already?

Likewise. And I think giving advice - no matter what kind - plays a large part in improving us as fantasy managers - helps formulate and clarify strategies and thinking processes a lot better.

I'm not sure about the summer - I did Fantasy Euro 2016 last year but didn't visit this site a lot. I'll probably stick around this year because of withdrawal symptoms!

Thanks to the deadzone players that helped and advised. Ended up 19k after a dismal start. Also, I was chasing ML leader for most of season and constantly looking for diffs - which meant I tried too hard not to get his team. Made up ~80pts over last 8 weeks, 30 pts behind for DGW and finally passed him last week and hung on today despite both of us having big games.

Everyone here a huge help. (I wonder if he is on here fuming at his last 3 weeks because he really did nothing wrong!)

First year playing FPL with a lot to learn :
      - 156 total HITS taken (LOL)
      - 1M OR rank was the lowest
      - playing Bench Boost on GW 3 (LOL)
      - End up with 46.986 OR and 108.7 total team value
      - won 2 private ML, 2 public ML, 1 private H2H, 1 public H2H
      - Rank number 626 in my Country (Indonesia)

      will be better next year

Spectacular rank, well done! I think I have to look to your team for lessons, I chickened out of Gabbiadini to Llorente this week (for a hit mind, but still) and it ultimately cost me 2nd place in my country (Greece).
