The Under-21 Euros are starting  but while UEFA has let us down this year with no game our Polish friends are doing a good job covering.

An English version of the Polish Fantasy game for the event can be found here, where you can also find more details about the rules and scoring system.

In addition, a FFScout league has been created (code: 575933631).

The tournament is played in Poland and will have 12 teams competing from June 16-30. Teams are divided into three groups of four, with the group winners and the best runner up progressing to the semi-finals.

The deadline for initial selection of squads will be June 16, 5pm UK time, which is also the kick-off of first game, Sweden v England.

A quick glance through the rules tells us that we have unlimited transfers between each round, which means that bench cover is not very important, as long as you try to pick nailed players.

Players earn two points for winning a match so you want to be targeting big teams, while adding a few cheaper players from smaller teams to stay inside your budget.

Selecting your squad

As always U21 squads change a lot with players getting promoted to the national teams. Some teams have got their big stars back for this tournament, so predicting lineups for the first games can be a bit tricky.

Goalkeepers

Stoppers earn minus points for goals conceded and don’t earn any save points so going safe with a goalkeeper from one of the big teams is advisable. Gianluigi Donnarumma (9m, Italy) is priced very highly so instead perhaps consider Julian Pollersbeck (7.5m, Germany) or Everton bound Jordan Pickford (7m, England). Portugal’s goalkeepers have a big gap in price so there could be a potential bargain there, but without confirmation of their number 1 it may be best to wait.

Defenders

Defenders also earn minus points for goals conceded, but get four points for an assist. This has been noticed by many and it is no surprise that Hector Bellerin (8m, Spain) is the most popular defender. Other targets include two experienced attacking right-backs who have both also played as wingers for their clubs this season, Joao Cancelo (8m, Portugal) and Andrea Conti (7.5m, Italy). For other defenders look out for tonight’s England XI to see if any of the cheaper players get a start.

Midfielders

The highest priced midfielders include Saul Niguez (9.5m, Spain) and Renato Sanchez (9m, Portugal), who are very well-known but play in a deep midfield role and are not known for their scoring. Marco Asensio (9m, Spain) and Serge Gnabry (8.5m, Germany) are classified as midfielders but expected to play as wingers so may be better options.  Also consider Lewis Baker (England, 7.5m) and Portuguese duo Bruno Fernandes (8.5m) and Joao Carvalho (7.5m).

Strikers

There is already a template attacking trio forming with Gerard Deulofeu (8.5m, Spain), Davie Selke (8.5m, Germany) and Patrik Schick (4.5m, Czech). All of these players did very well in qualifiers and are expected to continue where they left off. If you call yourself a maverick and want something different, then look for the two Italian Serie A big hitters, Federico Bernardeschi (8.5m) and Domenico Berardi (8m). Neither has an impressive record in the U21 but coming from one of the toughest leagues in Europe to play with kids, could mean a lot of points. England’s Tammy Abraham (6.5m), who is a loan target for both Newcastle and Brighton, could be another budget option if he starts tonight.

Here is a link to an earlier hot topic where you can find more information to help you with your selection,

I’ll be sure to keep a close eye on all different foreign websites for late news on lineups.

    Pick best combo:

    A) Pollersbeck, Chilwell, Swift
    B) no GK, Vallejo, Meyer/Suarez
    C) no GK, Vallejo, Kempf, Pellegrini

P.S. So annoying as always 0.5 short or need 7 Eng players to have my perfect team..

      Thats my thoughts too.
Bank On England and choose one of Spain or Italy to Go through.
Saul (C) should be something of a differential. Need to as i am #152

When I look at that 4 Eng at the back I feel that's a waste. Germany will score imo thats why I decided to loose Pickford and use money to field 2 Spain defenders.

If you want the three expensive Spain attackers then it makes sense to have to get worse options elsewhere.

    Hi #FantasyEuroU21 managers!

About high values of players for GW4: we were thinking about some possible solutions, but finally we decided that for semifinals nothing changes. That will be fair for these who already picked theirs squads.

In the GW5 (final) we will adjust a little players' values before releasing the transfer list.

    Regards!

      Hello Tom,

If a semi final goes goes into extra time and is won within the 120mins, please can you confirm whether 'match won 2pt' or 'match drawn 1pt' will be issued at the 90min result or the 120min result?

Also if a team wins on penalties, do the players from the winning team receive a 'match won' point?

        Hi Mikess,

When after Extra Time one team wins, then their players take 2 points (for a victory). When after ET it is a draw, it will be treated as a draw (1 point) [penalties don't impact on anything].

        Cheers!

I would suggest you just give everyone an extra 10million for example to save you adjusting players values?...

At the minute i dont think it would actually be possible to pick a squad if you had to pick from Germany & Spain players (Presuming they will make the final)

Chalobah and Redmond trained away from the main group on Monday as the pair race against time to be fit for tomorrows SF vs Germany.

Ownership percentages are quite interesting because everyone's teams reset after groups. Mawson, Holgate and Chillwell with 80-90% and Pickford also at 50% means that, depending how many you are fielding, whatever they do it won't affect rank much at all.
Apart from Asensio premium picks are very divided, with ownerships mainly 20-30%.

This is where people with multiple teams at a good position have a big advantage with being able to go several different ways.

Hi. I'm very interested how would your team look like VS10 if money wasn't an issue. 6 Spa and no Ita? Saul or not nesesary? Any Eng players?

      1. VS10_

3 defenders from Ger and Spa. Then probably Saul, Asensio, Deulofeu, Gnabry, Selke.

Saul is a better option than initially thought, especially if Suarez drops to the bench and he plays as most advanced midfielder. Can't fit him in though with this budget as I decided I won't get two 4.0 keepers.

          So something like:

          Ballaerin, Valleho, Kempf
          Asensio, Saul, Gnabry, JWP
          Deu, Selke, Ramirez

          Am I right?

Also think that those JWP crosses makes him a nice pick but if you have to choose would you pick him or Gray/Abraham as Eng pick?

I think I would still get Gray. I'm not too keen on Deulofeu, Selke and Bernardeschi, while I would like to have Saul, Asensio, Pellegrini, Gnabry and Meyer in my team if possible. I would only pick JWP over Gray if I didn't know the line ups beforehand.

Really hard to get a good team this round. Have to play players that I dont believe in. Considering going all in on England and Italy. need to play 2 England defenders anyway, and cant afford the players I see as top picks from spain/germany.

    On this atm.

    Pollersbeck

    Kemp - Conti - Vallejo - Mawson - Chillwell

    Asensio - gnabry - Dahoud

    Ramirez - Gray

What do you guys think about playing without a goalie to upgrade elsewhere ? any comments on the team appreciated

Conti is suspended with Berardi. Maybe Italy's two best players, so I would be surprised if that doesn't show at all.

I think you have to compare who you have without a keeper and with a keeper and then decide if it's worth it.

Looks very sweet. Only thing I would not be too sure on is triple England attack, I have double defence and not all that sure...budget is very tight though.

I prefer attacking Eng players than defensive mids form Ger for example or Llorente or even more players form Eng in def.
I pick JPW/Swfit/Gray instead of building my team with 3-4 defensive midfielders like Dahoud, Llorente etc.

From an FPL perspective, I would agree, but remember there is two points to be had for being on the winning team, almost equal to an assist. So for example, if Germany beats England 2-1, you're banking on Swift being involved in the one England goal to even match Dahoud's points (4).

Germany might make one or two changes to previously unchanged lineup. Weiser and Dahoud are in danger of being dropped and Phillip and Amiri could come in.
All four are 7m, but latter pair is certainly a better fantasy option for me.

Usually I ask without reading the rules. This time I actually wasted time reading the rules but those didn't answer my question. I'll go back to asking without reading the rules 😆

This is me for the semifinals:

    Pollersbeck
    Vallejo - Kempf - Mawson - Chilwell
    Saul (C) - Asensio - Llorente
    Ramirez - Philipp - Gray

Hoping for a 0-0-game right now, or Philipp/Gray to be involved in any goals. Then it's Spain all the way tonight. The triple midfield basically gives me an extra Spain defender in case they keep a CS.

    Good luck all!

That was my 11 until I made three changes and decided that's it. Let's see what happens.

    Pickford
    Vallejo - Mawson - Chilwell
    Saúl - Asensio - Pellegrini - Haberer
    Gray - Sandro - Abraham (C)

Just noticed Jung ended up starting at CB. A lot of teams could have looked different with that knowledge.

Man, I missed the Stark injury. Jung @ 6.5 would have been nice.
