An unprecedented summer podcast arrives following the Fantasy Premier League launch, as Jonty, Andy and Luke join me in the afterglow of a joyous day.

Technically “on the beach” and fighting back to full fitness, we nonetheless brave the airwaves to chime in on the price list, reclassified players and some early formation dancing.

We glory in the potential bargains, lament the overpriced and make bold claims on our lineups that will doubtless be reversed come August 11. If Andy has Chris Brunt in his Gameweek 1 squad, I’ll eat my Free Hit chip.

The FPL Draft game gets a rinsing, and we end the show with our proud declaration of our team ID’s. A conclusion that leaves me feeling rather inadequate even before a ball has been kicked.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Wednesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link on the first player below, or take in the full visual experience via the second player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I'm happy with Lanzini as a punt, think he's definitely got some goals in him to start.
Understand the worries about Defoe and I'm not totally enamored with the pick either but I figured he's the safest at 8.0 or less and I'm not a fan of any of the other options at that price except maybe Benteke when he moves.

        Cheers for the response!

I'm staying well away. Would've had him as a 9.0 mid if he were listed there but listed as a striker I just don't think he's close to consistent enough for one of the three slots

I've got the same front 3. After Kanekaku, Defoe is as good as can be afforded.

NEW will prob buy another GK so Elliot might not be an option.

      Rosenor nailed on?

CRY not really known for clean sheets, so I'd look elsewhere for a 4.5 def than Tomkins (BUR, BOU, STO...)

Would go Fabregas instead of Pedro and upgrade Ramsey and/or Lanzini

      1. Nice to Finally Michu
        • 13 Years
        9 years, 1 month ago

If Elliot isnt 1st choice I'll just take Myhill to back up Foster.
Rosenior isn't totally nailed but I view him as safest of the 4.0s in terms of minutes.
I liked Palace's fixtures for a bit so I had Tomkins in tentatively but could easily switch to Mee/Dunk.
And as for the bottom suggestion I think I'll keep Pedro, lile his prospects especially to start the campaign and I dont fancy anyone else at 8.0 or under.

        Thanks for the advice mate

            Milner is on pens
            I'm assuming.

Anyway statistically defenders from top teams are more likely to keep a clean sheet than others.

I'm happy with my mids despite it being my weakest link it's all about coverage here

I have no doubt ozil will provide points but id rather Mane Coutinho All for that money. I say switch ozil since you have ramsey. Apart from that then nice team!

Rooney i feel will be a good pick this season, but im definitly going to wait on that on, fixtures are dreadful

im happy with Kane for Spurs coverage.

        1. Helia

Yeah but CM I actually think improved Coutinhos game, but i know weve only had a small sample of that. He had so much space and i think he actually averaged more shots. Could of had abit to do with whoever they were up against though.

I can see Ozil being a good pick still, one of my favourite players, just feel more comfy myself with the others

      Sticking with 433?

A familiar pattern i recognise every year in my fpl team is ignoring a player.
Last season i ignored Sanchez for a period and got him in way too late. The season before was Vardy and mahrez.

Also have always been tempted to captained people like Coutinho, Alli, Firmino, Hazard.. instead of Sticking to options like Sanchez or Kane.. This year im sticking that armband on Lukaku and Kane and not going to switch

    1. Waxys
      • 9 Years
      9 years, 1 month ago

Lol you need to switch captains each week. Kane and Lukaku blank too from time to time doeneding on fixtures

      1. Helia
        • 11 Years
        9 years, 1 month ago

Sorry i meant switch between the two! I added up the points i would of had if i kept it on Sanchez or Kane last season based on whoever had the better fixture and it smashed the points i got from the captains i picked.

    2. noquarternt
      • 11 Years
      9 years, 1 month ago

Whoa- when you said you ignored a player, I thought it was going to be someone like Capoue, McAuley or King.

        9 years, 1 month ago

I had KDB to begin with and switched to Hazard.. Had Coutinho Eriksen aswell.. In the end though it was painful as everyone else in my league had him (c) every week. I guess that was part of the reason i went against him for a while lol

        1. noquarternt
          • 11 Years

Yeah understandable. I find its all about getting those big lads when they're firing though. Differentials are differentials for a reason. If a highly owned + captained player hauls, you get murdered in the rankings. I try to own the most owned players, captain sensibly and then go more punty on the cheaper squad options. GL.

We're all going to miss out on top players this year - there are too many! But if we start with a few premiums we can switch with 1FT. Tattooing te band on Kanekaku will by my strategy this season - I've messed about too much in the past too.

CB from Roma. Solid defender but I am not sure if he can replace any of the 3 CBs. Heard he is capable of playing RB but also doubt he would get to start ahead of Moses, at least not from the beginning of the season

You haven't been paying attention, it's a back 3 with wing backs.

Arsenal’s run-in last season which saw them win nine of their last ten games and won the FA Cup.

This new system works and Lacazette will only improve the team

Early fixtures are average compared to the other 'big team' and Lacazette/Ozil/Sanchez are very highly priced. When thinking in terms of coverage, it is much more important to have the best captain options. Kane and Lukaku look the best captain options early on so building around them makes a lot more sense then trying to fit in Arsenal players.

I prefer the Arsenal defenders early on I reckon.

The term coverage makes no sense. You've only got to 'cover' players that score goals/get assists.

      Lol no way.

He's too injury prone not to be rotated and one bad game and Mourinho will drop him

I noted that. He'll be on my watchlist - if he gets fit and looks like being a starter, he'll be straight in. Not GW1 though.

      I would think so.
Smith plays in a more midfield (like Dier) when Ake is in the side.

Every year...every year we dream of him turning his huge historical PPG into regular starts and returns...

Just can't see it. In this new 3 CB formation, its gonna be one striker (Lacazette/Giroud) and 2 attacking mids- Ozil will be one then Sanchez/Walcott/Welbeck/New Signing.

That boat is gone. If he went to a smaller club I would consider. His PPG keep saying get him every year but it rarely works out. Total enigma. Tbf can't see why Wenger does not give him more minutes.

Can you please rate my team.

    Foster/Boruc
    Luiz/Cedric/Mee/Hefele/Hunemeier
    Sanchez/Coutinho/B.Silva/RLC/Carroll
    Lukaku/Kane/Mitro

Thinking about getting Milly in defense as feel like it doesn't look solid at the back.
Fancying a punt on B.Silva myself too

    Thoughts?

    A. Daniels/Loftus-Creek and Alli (442 or 343) or...
    B. Zaha/Fabregas and Defoe (343) ?

Fabregas if he seems to be nailed, otherwise Zaha in B.

Personally, I would go with A. Bournmouth already had a decent amount of clean sheets, and their new signings might bring more, and Daniels gets the off goal and assist. Alli is self explanatory.

I don't Fab will start too often. I think Zaha might maintain the level he played last year, but I expect Defoe to decline.

Thanks. Defoe could be King...not sure which one will take the penalties...King played really well in spring. 7.5 is good value, if he's nailed and on penalties, and they play with 2 strikers
