Huddersfield Town new boys Steve Mounie and Tom Ince score for the Terriers to boost their CVs for the role of budget options in our Fantasy squads.

Here’s the latest pre-season notes.

Bury 1 Huddersfield Town 3

Club record signing Steve Mounie opened his account for Huddersfield Town as the Premier League new boys came from behind to win their second pre-season encounter.

The Benin international, signed from French side Montpellier, was handed a tap-in by Chris Lowe’s fine cross before goals from fellow new signing Tom Ince and last season’s top scorer Elias Kachunga sealed the deal for the Terriers.

Ince’s strike was his second consecutive goal in pre-season as the midfielder, priced at 6.0 and owned by 2.5% of Fantasy Premier League managers, enjoyed another rise in stock.

Midfielder Kachunga – scorer of 12 goals in the Championship campaign – remains on the radar after his converted spot-kick.

His 6.0 price tag in midfield could prove tempting in light of Huddersfield’s kind opening run (pal, NEW, SOT, wham, LEI, bur). However, he is unlikely to take penalty duties from Australian Aaron Mooy, who missed out on Sunday with his pre-season break extended following participation in the Confederations Cup.

Terriers coach David Wagner employed his standard 4-2-3-1 formation, but the absence of no fewer than nine first-team regulars rather diluted the relevance of the encounter.

Tommy Smith (foot), Jon Gorenc Stankovic (ACL) and Michael Hefele (Achilles) were joined on the sidelines by goalkeeper Joel Coleman (knock), Joe Lolley (groin) and Nahki Wells (ankle).

Mark Hudson, who was on a coaching course, and new signing Mathias Jorgensen, who was attending his sister’s wedding, were also unavailable.

Collin Quaner recovered from a knock to make a second-half appearance and set up Ince’s goal, while left-back Scott Malone drew the foul that led to Kachunga’s penalty conversion.

Huddersfield Town XI to 60 minutes: Lossl; Lowe, Schindler, Cranie, Scannell; Billing, D Williams; Bunn, Palmer, van La Parra; Mounie.

Huddersfield Town XI after 60 minutes: Schofield; Malone, Schindler (Edmonds-Green 75), Cranie (Kane 75), J Williams; Whitehead, Payne (Hogg 75); Ince, Kachunga, Quaner; Depoitre.
Sub Not Used: O’Brien.

A reminder that all the friendly results and key Scout Notes are being captured here, in our Pre-Season Guide.

Fitting in Lukaku, Kane and Jesus is fairly tough.

I'd love to drop Kane in favour of Alli but realistically I think I want both.

My problem with dropping Kane is that he will more than likely be my captain in both GW1 and GW3 if he is in my team. Alli would not.

        Lukaku loves scoring vs WHU.

Wouldn't he be the prime captain choice for GW1?

I am just not sold on United's attack. Really hard to predict how they will be this season. But yes, I believe he will be captained by the most people in total, especially going by his ownership at the moment.

I've got that front 3 and happy with the draft it means playing RLC as 4th mid, which (pre season and minutes pending) I'm happy to do. No risk of Capou'ing it on our bench

    Word up fellas.

I've seen people asking about 4.5 defensive rotation options and have had a look at fixtures for some of the key candidates.

The idea is to avoid having to play a 4.5 defender against a top 6 team.

I'm basing my analysis on the teams that I've seen people backing 4.5 DEF options from in their RMTs. That is: Bournemouth, Brighton, Burnley, Leicester, Newcastle, Stoke and Watford. Let me know if I've missed anyone...

This is a two team rotation, so would be your 3rd and 4th or 4th and 5th defenders depending on strategy.

I've come up with some options to consider.

The best option in terms of avoiding the big guns is probably Newcastle/Swansea. This would be Naughton + Yedlin/Clark/Lascelles. This gives the following opponents for the first 19 gws:

    sou
    hud
    WHU
    NEW
    STO
    WAT
    whu

Now, if Johnson or Cameron plays every game for Stoke, and you can stomach having them away at Everton GW1, some even better pairings shape up such as Burnley/Stoke:

I dont think so much on formation this early, it is very dependant on single players imo. If it looks like Austin will start for sure and have a good pre-season, I bet 3-4-3 will be popular i.e. but if Redmond, Fabs, Ramsey looks hot from the off, the 3-5-2 will be popular etc

Gunna throw a shameless RMT on here.

    Foster (Elliott)
    Kompany Trippier Cedric (Dunk, Long)
    KDB, Willian, Tadic Phillips (RLC)
    Kane, Lukaku, Benteke.

.5 in the bank to do a variety of things between now and the start of the season...

    1) Tadic to Ramsey (Or 7.0m mid)
    2) Elliott to 4.5m GK
    3) Benteke to Batshuayi (If Chelsea don't sign a striker he looks important).
    4) Dunk to Ake/Daniels

I'm happy with the base of the team but I think something we're all missing is the Sanchez affect, if he's still at Arsenal then surely we want him in our teams? I certainly do and it changes the above massively.

RMT please, need to make some choices too...

    Foster
    Lindelof / Cedric / Francis
    Alli / Coutinho / Sane / Pedro / RLC
    Kane / Lukaku

    Myhill / Mee / Fletcher / Hunemeier

I think which one of Mee or RLC I play depends on whether RLC will be nailed, whilst Mee definitely will be.

would not play RLC/Mee every week regardless of opposition. So naturally dont like the draft. I dont see a big difference in value between Pedro and Willian also both Ali and Kane seems overkill if they start slowly.

Pedro will likely stay in the side even after Hazard is back, while Willian will be outed when he's back.
In terms of Alli and Kane, they are both really good in general and personally it is riskier if I don't have the two of them.

well that is where we disagree. Willian would be a good place holder untill we find out who are the mid priced mids that we need. You can use the 1 extra mil to upgrade and I would much rather not put all my eggs in Spurs basket with Wembley and no transfer activity at all depressing the fans.

    Lukaku and Pogba owners;
What makes you think that United suddenly will improve so much in terms of goalscoring since last season? They were 13th in terms of goals at home, and 20-30 goals behind chelsea, liverpool and spurs.
Fantasy points comes mainly from goals, no?
Makes more sense putting your money in those attacks if you want points 😉

obviously not. But they should have scored a lot more last year.

    Thoughts on this 4-3-3?

    Foster (Elliot)
    Lindelof, Trippier, Cedric, Dawson (Yedlin)
    KDB, Alli, 7.0 (RLC, Carroll)
    Lukaku, Laca, Firm

Coverage from all the big hitters bar Chelsea. 7.0 mid could be Fab if he looks nailed early.

Valencia - Walker - Trippier - PVA (Morgan)
Alli - Willian - Zaha - Phillips (Carrol)
    Lukaku - Kane (4,5 3d sub)
