Update Four is now live, introducing heatmaps as a major new feature, along with another round of tweaks and improvements.

Once again Matz1lla has done us proud with his efforts, as we continue to work at enhancing the site and tools on offer.

Here’s what’s included in this update:

Team and Player Heatmaps
As mentioned in our preview article, we’ve tried to go the extra mile with our heatmaps feature.

I always wanted to ensure that, when these were included in our members’ area, they would work with the ability to slice the Opta data by intervals – eg Gameweeks, matches, home and away etc.

Implemented in this way, they suddenly become more effective as a method of analysing player and team performance, not just in a single match, but in a group of fixtures or over the entire season.

So heatmaps can now be found in player and team profiles and in the player and team comparison tools.

You can also get them in the match dashboard, to view traditional team or single player maps for a particular fixture.

We’ve added maps for the following statistics:

Touches
Passes Received
Shots
Chances Created
Recoveries
Challenges Lost
Successful Take ons
Failed Take ons
Goal Attempts Conceded (teams only)
Chances Created Conceded (teams only)
Fouls Conceded (teams only)

Hazard vs Pedro – Touches – 2016/17 All Matches
members

The preview movie below shows the heatmaps in action and the options and possibilities available.

Heatmaps Preview Movie

If you’ve any feedback on the maps or have any requests on other statistics you would like to see mapped, please get in touch via support@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk

Bonus Points System additions
Having added the Baseline Bonus Points System statistics in Update Three, we’ve tweaked this further and implemented the statistics to both the player profiles and player comparison tools.

Baseline BPS is now included as a key statistic when comparing players.

Fantasy Goal Involvement
We’ve always included the goal involvement statistic.

This measured a player’s contribution in terms of goals scored or assisted as a percentage of his team’s goals scored when he was on the pitch.

We’ve now expanded this to offer a new statistic, which takes into account Fantasy assists. This is now found on the player statistic Involvement tables.

What’s coming next?
We’re looking to add Fantasy Premier League prices to our database in order to surface these in our profiles and player tables. The aim is to introduce the ability to filter tables by these prices.

We will then move to include Sky Sports prices in their tables and also build Yahoo Daily Fantasy tables, which will hopefully include player prices for the forthcoming contests.

Expected goals remains a background task as we continue to research and explore options for our model.

Once the season begins, we will also start to address improvements away from the Members’ area and, in particular, look at our HomeCrowd comments system.

You can see our current task list and track our progress through the next update via this roadmap.

You can also send your feedback and requests to me at mark@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk

Our previous updates are detailed here, here and here.

A reminder that, if you want access to this forthcoming update and other future additions to the members’ area, you can sign up for the new campaign now for our pre-season price of £12.50 (RRP £15.00).

Existing registered users can upgrade via this link. New users, who are yet to get a registered account, can sign up via this link.

If you’re new to the benefits of Fantasy Football Scout membership, you can get full details, along with a series of movies previewing the content, via this page.

Due to the new site additions, if you encounter any loading issues with the images in comparison tool, we advise clearing the browser cache (shift and F5) to resolve this.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

If Spurs' record at Wembley is getting wheeled out, then what of Arsenal's record on the opening day? One win in six, I think and five of those six were at home!

Reflective of a lack of preparedness going into the season.

We're a bit better this season. Although no Kos and no pre-season for Mustafi or Sanchez isn't ideal.

Got smashed 3-0 by Chelsea and lost to Sevilla. It's hardly been a great pre-season.

Soooo much this. Some of the same people justifying not picking Kane for this reason are going with Lacazette. Arsenal have a terrible record on opening day and their fixtures aren't the best either. Pretty sure their games against Leicester last season were 1-0 and 0-0. I'm confident Liverpool will beat them at Anfield in GW3.

Yes, I think it's a good team and if you take Mounie out for Ayew you will have way more flexibility in your formation, plus you will actually have three playing strikers. Check out Ayew's form at the end of last season - he was on fire and he's nailed to play every match.

tried my best to be able to have a decent bench - you know for a fact with injuries and rotations you need some one on there who will actually play

Foster (Myhill in case he get injured)
Lindelöf - Cédric - Kolasinac - Trippier (Dunk)
    KDB - Willian - Salah - Richie ( Carroll)
    Lacazette - Lukaku (Gayle)

    any thoughts?

I try to avoid it if i can but it happens. My view is its 2 fold.
      1. The CS covers no returns for attacker but the attacker goal cancels CS. So one view could be, play both and lessen risk of no return. Or.
      2. Avoid if possible as you wand CS and attacking return so go for broke.

I always prefer the second option

Nothing wrong with it. Just a different opinion in a few picks of yours. I could be wrong though.

      Defoe over Benteke
      Ritchie over Fraser Probably
Monitor Yoshida ofc,Go for Cedric IMO
Not sure about Gomes go for Foster

        No
        I don't have 0.5 extra.
Yoshida is nailed for GW1, Cedric isn't.
WBA defence isn't that good, 6 CS last season. Gomes has save points and Silva's home record.

Would you do Bertrand to 4.5 to fund that?
Or Maybe Kompany to 5 other than Daniels?

But who would be the third cb if Arsenal play 3 at the back? Kosc Mustafi Holding right?
An Arsenal defender for 5m is a steal if he's nailed on

    starting to like this lot:

    DDG - Elliot
    Trippier - Daniels - Dawson - Suttner - Mariappa
    Mane - Salah - Willian - Zaha - T.Carroll
    Kane - Jesus - Austin

Not keen on Austin. No Lukaku is risky, but you knew that

Thoughts on this draft? - have dumped the premium defenders in favour of balance and 3x heavy hitters up front :

    Foster (Myhill)
Trippier Bertrand Aké 4.5 (4.5) (rotation pair TBC)
    Salah Fabregas Zaha (Carroll Romeu)
    Kane Lukaku Jesus
