Our series of summer members’ articles continues this afternoon as we assess what’s on offer at the managerial merry-go-round that is Watford.

To begin with, we analyse the Hornets’ performances on a team level, checking out last season’s data in order to spot trends and areas of improvement. Following that, we take a look at the players to pinpoint their key individuals.

For this article, we also focus on new manager Marco Silva’s impact on his former club Hull City after an impressive stint at the KCOM Stadidum during the second half of 2016/17.

Watford parted company with Quique Sanchez Flores at the end of 2015/16, scoring 40 times on their way to finishing in thirteenth spot on 45 points.

Yet the now-departed Walter Mazzarri failed to improve upon those performances in his only season at the helm. The Vicarage Road outfit scored the same number of goals but picked up just 40 points, ending the campaign in seventeenth position.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Ok mates:
    Who do you favor:
    A) Valencia and Holding
    B) Bailly and Monreal
Just switched from A to B to avoid eventual benching of Holding when Kos and Mustafi return... make sense?

Kompany is always on step away from injury. Risky pick and City's defence is not good.

Kolasinac maybe but it's worth monitoring over the opening fixtures, Arsenal defence isn't the best either

    Foster (Elliot)
Walker - Daniels - Valencia (Rangel Mee)
    Fabregas - Pogba - Ward-Prowse - KDB (Loftus Cheek)
    Kane - Lukaku - J Rod

Realizing it's kind of Man U heavy, but the fixtures are there. May need Liverpool coverage. Thoughts are much appreciated.

    2016-17: 26 starts 13 goals 6 assists

    2015-16: 30 starts 10 goals 7 assists

    2014-15 24 starts 10 goals 4 assists

Psychology degree required. Anyone able to work out the Milner quotes about penalties over the weekend. If Firmino is to take them then it really adds to his value and subtracts from Milner's. If Firmino is on them, then it probably makes him a 200 point player assuming Liverpool get around the same number as last year.
However, if Klopp is to be believed and Milner could be playing in midfield and he keeps penalties then surely he is a must have player.
If only everyone spoke in plain English and just said what they meant!

    1. Pep says
      • 11 Years
      9 years, 27 days ago

Klopp said Moreno is back which sounds enthusiastic in his part. That would mean Milner pushes to midfield. There's also competition for this place.

By having a backup penalty taker, Klopp doesn't have to worry about having Milner on the field all the time which possibly puts his naildness into question?

    De Gea
    Cedric Kolasinac Kompany Alonso
    JWP Willian Eriksen
    Lukaku Jesus Firmino

    Elliot Fraser Carroll Hünemeier

    1) Please RMT out of
    2) JWP/Fraser rotation or 6.5/4.5 combo instead
    3) Is no WBA defence no good?

WBA defence is a bit questionable so fine to go without.

I reckon Tadic/Redmond + RLC is more promising.

Nice team though. Love the defence.

I don't get the Zaha love. He looks decent but never really produces. Can you give me the lowdown?

Otherwise obviously you've got a good team but a bad squad. I'd advocate downgrading just a little bit so you have a viable bench. Zaha to Carroll would enable JRod, Mee + Francis

        1. Pep says
          • 11 Years
          9 years, 27 days ago

For me, Zaha is a decent starting pick. Not much else on offer in this price practice and it's easy to downgrade him to a 6m bandwagon and upgrade someone else to another bandwagon for example
