Our summer series of members’ articles – offering an in-depth team-by-team analysis of 2016/17 – continues with West Bromwich Albion.

To begin with, we’ll look at the performance levels over the team statistics in an attempt to spot trends or improvements.

We then delve into the player data, analysing the key individuals as we scour for early targets ahead of the new season.

In addition, we’ll check in on the Baggies’ threat from set-pieces, in particular, with their reliance on dead-ball situations remaining pivotal to their prospects.

West Brom certainly upped their attacking output in the previous season.

Pulis’ side netted a mere 34 goals – the second-worst record in the top-flight – on their way to finishing in fourteenth spot in 2015/6. Yet last term, they found the net on 43 occasions to claim tenth position.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Currently confused between the two for my 4th mid slot. Only if Brady and Carroll would rotate well :/

    DDG
    Stephens Dann Daniels
    KDB Zaha Willian Ritchie

    Elliot TC Mee Long

Could also switch to 433 and play Danilo in place of Ritchie.

I'm currently on Lejeune for the same price. Also many eyeing up Francis. You already have Long who may start. With Keane gone Burnley don't seem that solid a bet.
Ritchie has burnt me once. At 6 I would suggest there's Matt Phillips, JWP, Brady all I would prefer over Ritchie. Maybe a punt on Iwobi.

Francis a rotation risk. Newcastle also dont rotate as well. Mee can cover Dann in gw2 and Daniels in gw4. Long will only start if one of the CBs get injured.

Ritchie is a different story, yeah. But reckon he might be the pick of the bunch in a decent Newcastle side. Cheers for thoughts!

    A >> josh king....maybe, Defoe is out

Could do Hart to DDG and make a threeway 4.5 rotation for the last def spot. Some punts that Id take before Lindelof: Dann, Danilo, Bavies. Also Willian to Zaha is deffo a possibility.

What's the best way to squeeze 0.5 out of this, not overly keen on Atsu due to Murphy lurking and think Fraser/JWP etc could be a much wiser pick?

    Begovic
    Kolasinac - Stones - Cedric
De Bruyne - Eriksen - Zaha - Atsu
    Lukaku - Jesus - Firmino

          • 10 Years
          9 years, 23 days ago

Yeah, would swap Begovic then. Its Atsu who's causing the problem, very unsure on him and a 5.5 in that position gives a bit more breathing room.

Also, will that Mounie lad suffer dilution of points from Delpoitre? Will they play together?

He's a cheap punt who will probably fail but could do ok - not much to lose apart from an FT.

In order to afford Kane, Kaku, Jesus, DDG, Alonso and a decent midfield, two 4.5m players will have to play every week.

How does this look for a 4 x 4.5m player, 2 play each week rotation that doesn't include any of the promoted clubs ?

    GW1 Hegazi (BOU) RLC (HUD)
    GW2 Mee (WBA), Simpson (BHA)
    GW3 Hegazi (STK) RLC (SWA)
    GW4 Mee (CPL), Hegazi (bha)
    GW5 Hegazi (WHU), Simpson (hud)
    GW6 Mee (HUD), Simpson (LIV)
    GW7 Hegazi (WAT), Simpson (bou)
    GW8 Mee (WHU), Simpson (WBA)
    GW9 Simpson (swa), Hegazi (sot)
    GW10 MEE (NEW), RLC (WHU)

Obviously if RLC doesn't start GW1 or any of the others lose their place I will transfer them out.

West Brom want a CB, doubt Hegazi will get more than 1 or 2 weeks if they sign Gibson and/or McAuley comes back

Just downgrade Alonso. Chelsea have poor form and problems with the striker position. Can see them doing very poorly for the opening weeks.

could be, attacking threat but little CS potential.. Bertrand much better at 5.5, and you have lots of great options ar 5

Not sure. There were major doubts about his start for GW1 after missing the majority of pre-season but people seem to be comfortable enough because he played one friendly.
