The 2017/18 season gets underway this evening as Arsenal entertain Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium.

With last season’s top scoring Fantasy Premier League (FPL) player Alexis Sanchez stuck on the sidelines through injury, the stage is set for new arrival Alexandre Lacazette to make an immediate impact.

Boasting an FPL ownership of 17%, he’s is the most popular Arsenal player after netting 28 times in Ligue 1 for Lyon last season.

Encouragingly for the hosts, Lacazette scored six goals in his last four opening day appearances in the French top division.

Fellow new arrival Sead Kolasinac also makes his Premier League bow tonight – he’s owned by 12% on the back of Sunday’s Community Shield strike against Chelsea.

With clashes against Man United, Chelsea and Liverpool also to follow in the first six Gameweeks, Leicester’s key assets have been mainly overlooked.

Only 4% have taken a punt on Jamie Vardy, who averaged a healthy seven points per appearance under Craig Shakespeare in the latter stages of 2016/17.

The Foxes also face promoted pair Brighton and Huddersfield over that period, though, affording us a chance to scout Vardy and new strike partner Kelechi Iheanacho as potential differentials up top.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

How do people with no Arsenal/ Leicester players feel?

Relieved more than annoyed for me. With a score of 4-3 it could be worse

No highly owned players other than Laca maybe. I'm happy I don't own any, at least for this GW

      Glad had neither defence.

Bitter sweet Ramsey, didn't start but scored.
Vardy showing his seasons aren't over.
      Kola is an option.

Just confirmed my thoughts that you wouldn't pick defenders from either of these teams as cs seems few and far between based on tonight's evidence.

Worth noting how high up the BAPS Monreal is despite shipping three goals.

I mean, I'm just trying to salvage what in hindsight is now an awful pick... but still.

Another observation. What was Shakespeare thinking with his end-of-game substitutions? I mean, I get taking out Okazaki for Amartey, but replacing James with Iheanacho makes no sense at all. And then to bring in Gray and not someone to shore up the defense? Wow. Some bad, bad decision making from the manager there...

      And then panic with gray

    2. Foozeball

He brought on Gray when they were losing and needed to try to tie it up, so that made sense. Bringing on Iheanacho for a midfielder was an awful decision however. He was particularly guilty of failing to close down Xhaka on the 3rd goal

    3. Ohhh Shola Ameobi

Completely agreed. The Iheanacho one stands out to me in particular. Into the final 10 minutes, 3-2 up away at the Emirates? Why on earth would you put another striker on. You could already see that it was going to be all Arsenal for the remainder of the game and, unless you took off Vardy, you already have your pace up front for the counter.

I think choosing to put him on instead of an additional defender/mid cost them the points.

Giroud is a better player than Lacazette. Arsenals goals will be shared between many people. Lacazette is rotation risk too. I'm looking for a forward that will be main goalscorrer for his team. Lukaku and Kane perhaps, hopefully Jesus.

I'm sorry for asking.
