The Manchester clubs are united in tormenting Fantasy Football managers.

In fairness, we should have expected Pep Guardiola’s City teamsheet to prove a source of frustration. It should come as no real surprise.

Even so, he seems determined to baffle us.

Having withdrawn Gabriel Jesus at half-time on Monday night following Kyle Walker’s dismissal, it appeared to signal that Guardiola’s affections were leaning towards Sergio Aguero for the lone striker role.

But just six days later, it was Aguero who made way as the City manager shuffled his formation and personnel in a bid to solve the frustration of Monday’s misses.

Aguero travelled to the Vitality Stadium today on the back of seven goals in his last seven away trips. He was backed by over 265,000 (5.7%) Fantasy Premier League managers with the captaincy.

Inevitably, Jesus took his opportunity to justify his selection. He served up his first goal of the season at Bournemouth having been sold by over 119,000 managers, triggering a 0.1 drop in price.

To make matters worse Aguero, along with today’s other omission from Monday’s teamsheet – John Stones – were both introduced from the bench by Guardiola. Auto-subs and Vice Captains were nullified.

City’s formation change – a move to 4-3-3 – also saw Kevin De Bruyne retreated alongside David Silva and Fernandinho as part of a central three.

That role muted his goal threat and again left him probing around the fringes of City’s 2-1 victory.

Statistically, the Belgian was still the most creative player in Gameweek 3 so far, providing four chances and laying on a big chance for Nicolas Otemendi who struck the post.

But those brief flashes will be lost on his Fantasy owners. They will continue to plot the exit of a 10.0 priced asset that has delivered three successive blanks. De Bruyne has already been sold more than any other player since the passing of today’s deadline.

As for United, while they engineered a 2-0 victory over a stubborn Leicester City at Old Trafford, Fantasy managers were left smarting by Romelu Lukaku’s penalty miss.

It remains to be seen if this dents Lukaku’s stock. There will be an ongoing debate on whether he will retain spot-kicks and whether Paul Pogba could be the beneficiary in waiting.

But for now, we can only consider what comes next in this current Gameweek.

Captained by over 1.7 million (37.3%) FPL managers, Lukaku’s zero point return sat alongside Aguero’s failing and a first blank from Pogba to set up Sunday’s performers.

Spurs’ Harry Kane now heads into a Wembley date with Burnley sporting over 741,000 armbands. Some 53% of his 1.3 million owners have trusted him as their skipper.

Confidence in Kane has been dented following his two single point returns, but now the scene is set for him to deliver the season’s first major twist.

A double-figure tally would cause a significant swing. Couple that with an impressive performance from Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez and it would represent a turning point that could spark transfer hits and Wildcards aplenty.

While Saturday disappointed, it means that Sunday could be huge for all kinds of reasons.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    REPOST because I am nice.

Mbemba is not good for a few weeks. He is not a Rafa favourite. Yedlin and Lejeune will be fit for GW4.

    Yedlin - Lejuene - Lascelles - Clark

And if Dummet is fit or when we bring in Kennedy,

    Yedlin/Manquillo - Lascelles/Lejeune - Clark - Dummet/Kennedy

I haven't really watched him play for Newcastle or Sunderland, but for the USMNT he hasn't totally put it all together. He might be the fastest man alive though.

Hahaha he is exceptionally quick. He is not yet the finished article. However he works brilliantly with Ritchie.

Ritchie is very willing to defend and cover Yedlins runs forward. Ritchie doesn't have the pace to go past a defender, so he holds it and waits for Yedlin to overlap. Then Ritchie pulls to the corner of the box, Yedlin either drags it back to him or he waits for a rebound. Their partnership really is great.

Stretch for Naughton. Personally I am a big Mbemba fan, but Rafa really is not. He is forced to play him atm that is all

Rafa's certainly not a fan of Mbemba at centre back because of his occasional forays forward with the ball, but might he win Rafa over with his performances at left back?

I would be very surprised. But I'm not always right. Rafa is so traditional. Definitely wants a left footer there

Why does it seem to be more love for Erisken compared to Alli?
Alli is due and also won't have UCL for first 3 games, meaning he is less likely to be rotated.

Worth doing De Bruyne to Eriksen right now before the fall?

De Bruyne - Salah - Willian - Mhikitaryan
    Lukaku - Kane - Abraham

    Elliot - Carroll - Francis - Long

Keep Ritchie or sell him to?
    A. Philliphs
    B. Richarlison
    C. Keep Ritchie

      C. No point in wasting a transfer for a sideways move unless you're really happy with the rest of your team

    best option?

    1 tadic
    2 richarlison

Tadic is raw talent, explosive one game, goes dormant for 5 games. shame but w fixtures good risk reward.

richarlison i saw him play while in fluminense in brasil very agile, tougher fixtures

Tadic raw talent? The guy's 28, at the peak 😆 He really should be doing better by now before the downhill slope

maybe i'm wrong but when i watched richarlison i found that he can't control the ball well and his passing is a bit poor but he is fast and good dribbler, not sure that can get him points

28 old? not at all. but leave it for another time. can go on so many players who explded after 27 and not before.

Yeah, skill, fitness & experience do kick-in towards 30 but the 'raw talent' is probably at the Richarlison age, 20.

tood yep ure right. hes quick agile. not too composed for passing. could be explosve at any moment in the game tho

I think you are getting carried away with this explosion talk. He is not explosive at all. One game a season where you get 15(23) points doesn't make you explosive, rather lucky. His returns are usually once over 6-7 games as opposed to five. He's no different than any other 6m mid and is priced maybe 0.5m too much.

Should I wait for the after the Spurs game or just bring in Eriksen now for KDB who is going to drop~ we reckon?

    Begovic, Elliot.
    Kolasinac, Jones, Yoshida, Mee, Dummett..
    Willian, KDB, Ramsey, Carroll, JWP.
    Kane, Lukaku, Firmino.

    2ft's, 0.0m.

Kinda tempted with getting David Luiz over Alonso and playing a 4-4-2. He's been playing as a defensive mid, so ever so slightly forward, and is 1m cheaper.
