Gameweek 4 gets underway with the showpiece fixture as Manchester City host Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium.

From a Fantasy perspective, the focus will clearly be on the attacking players.

City’s strikers head into the contest with impressive statistics to back them up. Sergio Aguero has scored in each of his five home meetings with Liverpool since arriving in the Premier League. As for Gabriel Jesus, he has been involved in 12 goals in his 11 starts, scoring eight and providing four assists.

But they will face a super confident Liverpool, boasting their own in-form “forward”. Roberto Firmino is the most bought asset over the international break, having found his way into 374,000+ squads since the Gameweek 3 deadline. The Brazilian has scored two goals and earned two assists in his four appearances against City.

Then we have the twin threats of Sadio Mane and Mo Salah – when they’ve started this season, they’ve scored, with five goals between them so far.

Salah is backed by over 238,000 new owners ahead of today’s encounter, only Henrikh Mkhitaryan (241,000+) saw more traffic among FPL midfielders since Gameweek 3.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

If you had both jesus & lukaku, would you get rid of either for Kane (C)next week?

Was planning on doing jesus to kane but hard to get rid of a guy who just scored 2 & has good fixtures.

Steps to prove how ridiculous that comment is:

      1. Click on your URL bar and go to fantasy.premierleague.com.
      2. Click the "transfers" tab.
      3. In the "view" drop down menu, select 'Man City'.
      4. Check the midfielders.

Feel sorry for Mané. Such agood player and so watchable. He will feel bad after this game. It was a red all day long, don't get me worng, but it would be really harsh to give him more than a three game ban. He also looked really lively before the red card.

Stud first straight leg into the head of Ederson with a ton of momentum. No idea how anyone can say it's not red.

It looks bad, yes, but Mané goes for that ball so quickly there's not much he can do about it. If he goes for that ball with nobody around him nobody makes a big deal of it, but Ederson gets caught in no mans land and all of a sudden its a red. Again, I'm not really sure what Ederson was trying to accomplish there, trying to shoulder Mané or the ball?

At the area of the pitch the incident occurred, he obviously can't have been playing the keeper. A regular outfield player and may be a case for dangerous play is justified, but Ederson had no business being where he was.

I know it's hard to understand. Think of it this way. Mane had no real reason for dangerous play. He was well clear of all outfield players. Ederson created the situation by charging out of the box.

      3. Ramboros

Was Mané well within his rights to jump before he challenges for the ball, then raise his leg way above his waist and keep it straight?

      4. Fanta sea
        • 10 Years

        1) Mane knows Ederson will be there because he tried to collect the ball at head height. If Ederson was not there, he'd be collecting that ball much lower.

        2) The Keeper being 20 yards from his goal line means nothing. If that was John Stones, it would still be a red card. It was a head high challenge with high reward if he go there before Ederson. He didn't, he caught the player and he rightfully gets sent off.

        1. fedolefan
          • 11 Years
          8 years, 8 months ago

          1) So, that's the risk Ederson runs. Playing yourself into a dangerous position is not fair play.

          2) The keeper being 20 yards from goal is what's wrong with it. As I said earlier, if it was an outfield player, the red card was probably deserved. Read my post. Mane was well within his rights to assume he was clear since he beat the last outfield player.

          1. RealSocialDads

The keeper is allowed anywhere on the pitch, his position has no bearing on the decision, mane knew he wasn't clear and knew ederson was coming

I know he is, and I'm arguing his position should have a bearing on the decision. Not that it wasn't a foul or dangerous play with a high foot.

        "PLAYING IN A DANGEROUS MANNER

Playing in a dangerous manner is any action that, while trying to play the ball, threatens injury to someone (including the player themself) and includes preventing a nearby opponent from playing the ball for fear of injury."

Don't understand the charging comment. Both players are entitled to go for the ball. Just that Mane doesn't get the ball and instead gets Ederson's face...

Only if the force applied is more than what was needed to attempt to win the ball. Elbows, dangerous tackles from behind etc are reds.

A high foot is typically been a yellow card tbh.

or if it endangers the safety of an opponent which then becomes serious foul play.

Careless is when a player shows a lack of attention or consideration when making a challenge or acts without precaution. No disciplinary sanction is needed

Reckless is when a player acts with disregard to the danger to, or consequences for, an opponent and must be cautioned

Using excessive force is when a player exceeds the necessary use of force and endangers the safety of an opponent and must be sent off

          http://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/lawsandrules/laws/football-11-11/law-12---fouls-and-misconduct

Obviously the 2nd one applies as there wasn't excessive force for the 3rd one.

you really should understand them too....

clearly states endangering the opponent is serious foul play and differentiates from use of excessive force.

By that logic Ederson should've been sent off as well for clattering into Mane from the side.

The rules clearly say reckless challenges are to be cautioned.

            Learn. To. Understand. Period.
