Gameweek 5 concludes at Old Trafford as Manchester United’s Fantasy assets bid to end our weekend with a series of hauls.

Romelu Lukaku is undoubtedly the big draw. Still by far the top player, he remains part of 2.8 million squads and is backed by 1.4 million with the captaincy (30.1%).

However, having been the dominant captain all season, his Gameweek 5 support is at its lowest since the opening weekend of the season when he was backed by 28% of managers.

In addition, despite scoring six goals in six outings in all competitions, Lukaku’s ownership continues to slide.

The Belgian suffered a net loss of 72,000 owners ahead of Friday’s deadline and has so far been sold by another 38,000 managers before kicking a ball in Gameweek 5. Over 28,000 of those managers have made the move to Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero, with the Argentine’s hat-trick putting real pressure on Lukaku today. Fail to deliver returns and sales will surely pick up pace.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan also needs to produce.

The Armenian has been the major benefactor in FPL terms from Paul Pogba’s injury, gaining more than 321,000 new owners – second only to Spurs’ Ben Davies for Gameweek 5.

But following the 11-point tally from City’s David Silva in yesterday’s 6-0 win at Watford, Mkhitaryan owners will be keen to see their man produce a return without the influence of Pogba alongside him.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Can only afford Kane or Kaku to Aguero as one transfer. But haven't been impressed by Alli at all since owning him.

        Not enough striker spots.

I'd move Gabbiadini + Pogba for a hit. You can easily downgrade midfield with Alli Mkhi KDB.

    Lads,

Thoughts on doubling-up on Soton's defenders (since GW7) until the fixtures turn sour or should I go with Cedric and Leicester/Everton def?

    Thanks 🙂

Doubling up on Soton defence is quite a good option imo. I had doubled up on them until this week. My concern is the price raise in doubling up with their new backline. At that point, I'd rather have Otamendi than a Soton defender at 5.5.

      1. Bleach †
        9 years, 1 month ago

I'd have Otamendi also as I would go for Hoedt, who seems to be nailed even when VVD is back.

    a) Bertrand, Chicarito -> Kola, Wood (-4)
    b) Bertrand, Phillips -> Kola, 5.7 (-4)
    c) Chicarito -> Wood (play Bertrand vs Man U)

Likely WC after GW7. Worth the hit with fixtures?

No sign of Rose yet but surely Poch won't risk his only LB by playing him in both CL and PL.

I chose Alderweireld for the same reason. I think Davies is a really good option, but the fear of rest put me off.

    6. Bird Raymond
      9 years, 1 month ago

Assuming he doesn't play in the league cup he'll have had a week and a halfs rest, enough to think he will play the remaining 2 games until the international break.

If he hadn't have been on the bench yesterday I'd have been worried given how long spurs injuries seem to last.

Not sure who it was, maybe triggerlips, that sold Lukaku on WC last night and instantly regretted it in case he goes big and he might want him back, but will have to pay more.

    1. Rover

I thought triggerlips' plan was to have Kun for next GW and then shift back to Lukaku for the following, I doubt he was planning t get him back this week even if he had outscored Kun.

    Hart - (Elliot)

    Aguero - Lukaku - (Quaner)

    1. WE ARE RANGERS
      9 years, 1 month ago

On a WC, I would go 5-2-3, apart from Miki and a spurs mid I am struggling, plenty of great wing backs and plenty of forward choices

      1. diesel001
        9 years, 1 month ago

If you are willing to drop Lukaku then I like the below. Balanced, has coverage of all the most nailed on players in the Top 5 teams (City, Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs):

        Hart - (Elliot)
        Alonso - Jones - Davies - Kolasinac - (Naughton)
        Salah - Ritchie - Eriksen - Mkhi - (Carroll)
        Aguero - Morata - (Quaner)

14 of those 15 will start most matches (not Quaner).
