Quite simply, we can’t have them all.

On a day that began with us fixated on the fortunes of Sergio Aguero, it was perhaps fitting that almost every other big striker produced their own bid to steal his thunder.

Aguero was a slow starter but eventually found his gear to take his turn in Manchester City’s mauling of Crystal Palace.

A goal and an assist were his reward, with two bonus points ensuring that the Argentine avoided being dwarfed by the double-figure blitz from Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane from midfield.

Again, there was evidence that Pep Guardiola’s attacking riches border on the ridiculous. Just ask Gabriel Jesus.

The Brazilian sat unused on the bench, forcing his 678,000 owners – not least the 183,000 who acquired him with Palace in mind – to choke on a bitter pill.

Pep’s Jesus decision was perhaps signposted by 90 minutes in midweek. But it’s no less confusing for us Fantasy managers, who must now wonder if Guardiola will toy with ongoing rotation of his strikers, with Sterling and Sane building compelling claims for regular starts.

Chelsea in Gameweek 6 will tell us more, although it’s City’s meeting with a beleaguered Stoke City defence that we really care about now.

We can, of course, opt out completely. It’s not as if our options are limited.

Harry Kane’s brace at the London Stadium offered a reminder that he will not surrender the Golden Boot, or his place in squads.

Sold by 196,000, with 141,000 of those swapping to Aguero, the Spurs striker set the bar for the City man with a 13-point return in the early kick-off.

Kane remains a force of nature, with the talent to circumvent Spurs’ woes on the Wembley turf – he now has 11 goals from his last five away matches.

Romelu Lukaku wasn’t to be put in the corner. He picked off his sixth goal in as many Gameweeks, as Manchester United endured a hard-fought victory at St Mary’s.

But Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata won today’s battle.

He ruthlessly exploited an ailing Stoke City defence to punish the 148,000 who had disposed of his services amid the clamour for Aguero.

Chelsea and Morata won’t play against a centre-back pairing of Darren Fletcher and Glen Johnson every week, but the Spaniard’s haul was nonetheless telling.

It offered a reminder that this is a season awash with goal scoring riches.

Our midfield firepower may have stalled – thanks in no small part to the absence of Eden Hazard and Alexis Sanchez. But that’s allowed the strikers to roll back the years and reinstate themselves as the critical position in our squad.

This could have a marked impact on our squad construction, particularly for those still with Wildcards to play. Funds in midfield will surely be scrutinised, monies in defence squeezed.

This could be a season where the big-hitting forwards take turns to dominate. Restricting ourselves to just two may no longer cut it.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I would feel very uncomfortable with removing Lukaku given his ownership.

Silva never scores so you are relying on his assists which for me is not enough as a milf.

Ritchie and Vardy look good buys though.

        Lukaku 7
        Aguero 11
        Kane 13
        Morata 17

I'd be very uncomfortable owning Lukaku if lesser owned players outscore him as I'll fall behind all those.

            Previous games, 12, 6, 0, 6, 13, 7

Extremely underwhelming for a nailed on captaincy option with the easiest run of fixtures.

Think the scaremongering over mins for Aguero and Morata is getting blown out of proportion, both are in red hot form and are more likely to play than not at the moment.

Trip was on the sub's bench yesterday so he could possibly be Bavies or Kolasinic.

Or - depending on how you feel about Alonso - bring in Lukaku and a 4.5 defender for Alonso and Firmino so you are covered for the CPL game at OT.

      1. Demel
        • 14 Years

The Lukaku transfer only leaves me with 3.9m for a replacement defender.

Trippier was the one to go but Aurier's red card gives him a week's respite with a decent fixture coming up and a guaranteed start.

This is true about Trippier. But I am not sure that there are many 5.4m options to replace him with.

Monreal and Creswell are the 2 that spring to mind.

Better options look to be (potentially Danillo), Davies and Kola.

I like Alonso (subbed on 59 is annoying!). He will score me lots of points and I think he will outscore Ramsey (who I own) at the same price. So not keen on losing him.

Me. For now. Is there something in the idea that Coutinho has a negative influence on Firmino's points?

LIV are still scoring goals though so he is going to be back in the points sooner rather than later and he's a BAPMAG.

Cheap striker to replace firmino? So then I can upgrade a mid to silva

Abraham and Joselu the favourites round here.

Chris Wood worth a look at Burnley.

I'd be looking at Everton though. Calvert Lewin or now Niasse could break into the team...demote Roonpig into midfield.

I like Gray but fixtures are not great.

No need to make that transfer unless you have 2FT and are just using one imo. Alli has hud BOU, ideal. Wait for gw10

With Mendy out, is Danilo now an option ?

How long is Mendy out for? Danillo is the obvious replacement for Mendy depending on length of injury.

Anybody know if the injured Zaha will be price locked?

He's in my plans but need him to drop another 0.1. He's on - 89.4 on fplstatistics.co.uk.

    Jesus, Lukaku, Morata

What about Ramsey and Lukaku to Silva and Morata...after next weekend? Good moves ? Lukaku's fixtures are getting trickier...and would still have Mkhit. Thanks.

I have overlooked the top heavy formation for a while. But it seems a notion too hard to ignore this season. If I'm going to use my WC it may be to have a top heavy team. Anyone feel the same?

      Kane-Luk-Morata upfront for sure.
Change Luk to Kun after palace game.

Yeah me to I just think it's so tight on cash else where you have to have morata in the three very difficult to do kane kun kaku

The advantage with a top heavy team is that it is easy to change a striker to a midfielder. The key is keeping a strong defence. You need the points ticking over.

No, I don't think so. Most teams with top ranks have 3-4 top midfielders. There's lots of value in the 8-9.5 bracket.

    Bottomed last night, so...
61 so far with Ritchie, Elliot, Ramsey to play. Any suggestions for next week?

    Forster
    Mee-Jones-Bavies
    Eriksen-Ramsey-Fab-Ritchie
    Kane-Lukaku-Firmino

    Elliot-TAA-Dunk-Carroll

    2FT, 0.2 ITB.

Ditching Fab seems the obvious answer, but not sure who for right now. Also tempted to punt on Vardy for Firmino for one week, as I have been planning on WCing for gw8 after the intl break.

Vardy to Firmino or fab to choupo moting could be good

Dya reckon both and use my 2 FT? If my team had another good week i'd reconsider, but wildcarding for gw 8 seems to make sense

So are we changing Kun back To Lukaku for next GW. If we dont we are gonna need a big couch. If we do we are making Kaku to Aguero to Kaku and back to Aguero again...

Not for me. I'm sticking with Aguero, chelsea (tough) but then Stoke whose centre back pairing has a combined age of 100! Better off to use transfers elsewhere

Zouma will be back next GW and probably Wimmer too. Think even I would have scored playing against Fletcher and Johnson!

So the general consensus is a No to bringing Kaku back. Well my other idea is to have two saved transfers in the IB so good
