Sunday’s solitary fixture gets underway at 4pm as promoted pair Brighton and Hove Albion and Newcastle United square up at the Amex Stadium.

With many now filling their forward lines with premium frontman, we get the chance to run the rule over a trio of budget midfielders today.

The Seagulls’ Pascal Gross has played a part in all four of his side’s goals so far, serving up two goals and a pair of assists in his last two outings.

He was the second top transfer target for Gameweek 6, with over 381,000 transfers in.

For the Magpies, Matt Ritchie has bagged four assists in his previous three, while Christian Atsu’s goal and assist over his last two starts has also turned heads.

Indeed Ritchie and Atsu, along with team-mates Jamaal Lascelles and Chancel Mbemba have been subject to heavy investment over the last week, with a combined 783,000+ transfers in.

Newcastle number one Rob Elliot is the most owned player for Sunday’s clash, sitting in 23.7% of squads after conceding just once in his previous three. Yet he is the most benched player in the Gameweek, with over 808,000 naming him among their subs.

41 before today. You'll probably need a goal minimum.

Any good articles on how to wildcard here? Use it directly after gameweek? Can i trade in and out players who drop and rise in price during the week and benefit?

      After the 1st days games.
      Yes if they rise 0.2

    2. Limbo
      9 years, 1 month ago

      Yes.

Exactly. Get it done, then capitalise on rises, even if you don't want a player you can make .1 on a double rise over a week.

      1. grumpyman
        9 years, 1 month ago

Big shortage of double risers this year though. Also, if a player you really want rises .1 you lose the gain from the 'temporary' .2 riser. If you are not super sharp you can actually lose money shuffling your team during a wildcard. I tend to just get the players in I want and hope the rises come.

        1. Limbo
          9 years, 1 month ago

Yep. I dropped the WC last week and caught a few rises on the Sunday/Monday. It was easier to catch rises in previous seasons. But I do think with the right tactics you can catch one or two waves. If nothing else you can lock in the players you want before they rise, and wait till later in the week if you want someone you think might drop - for cash.

Had an absolute mare now. Transferred out Hemed, Mkhi and Alderweireld last week for an 8 point hit to bring in Jesus as a captain choice. Bold and very risky decision which has cost me at least 20 points. What a mare.

Can happen when you look at it as a single week but didn't you do those transfers with more than a week outlook on them?

      1. Jsadler95
        9 years, 1 month ago

Yeah true I did as the structure needed a change but just annoying "in this moment" in the words of our saviour Jurgen :') but then again brought Aguero in now so it was a waste tbh but oh well, still learning!

Well it's a stupid move anyway since Jesus played 90mins midweek. If you were gonna take a 8 point hit to bring in a City player, it should be Aguero. Not that I think it would be worth it.

      1. Jsadler95
        9 years, 1 month ago

Did it before Jesus played. Yeah I should have brought Aguero in, brought him in now this week for another -4. Just the way it goes. Done now just gotta push on. My team wont be getting touched now for a while except for the odd free transfer. Still learning.

        1. Ayew Holding Mee Cork
          9 years, 1 month ago

Why are you doing transfers so early? They have another match midweek. And you brought in Aguero for -4 to play against Chelsea? Calm down and stop chasing points.

          1. Jsadler95
            9 years, 1 month ago

Because I had no choice if I wanted Aguero in. It was a now or never thing. He's going to rise in the next 2 days and I had no spare cash to wait unfortunately or I would have. Not chasing points. Did it because I thought it was the smart move in the long run. Just made a mistake last week so wanted to correct it.

    3. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
      9 years, 1 month ago

Just learn from it & take it as an improvement to your overall long term FPL game

      1. Jsadler95
        9 years, 1 month ago

Yeah I will do thank you. Still haven't had too bad of a week. Scored 75 so far and waiting on Hegazi so if I get lucky that could be 81 which is still not bad and keeps me in the top 5 of my £240 league
