It’s been quite a start to the season for Ben Davies. Currently leading all defenders in terms of points with 49 – a number which trails only Sergio Aguero and Romelu Lukaku at any position – the Welshman’s form is inarguable.

In the six matches in which he has featured (Davies was rested for Spurs’ home encounter with Swansea in Gameweek 5), he has returned an average of 8.2 points per match (ppm) – more than a point clear of his closest rival (Antonio Valencia’s 6.7).

Last season, Davies performed admirably while deputising for the injured Danny Rose – racking up a goal and three assists, in addition to his share of Spurs’ league-leading clean sheet total. However, his attacking returns this campaign (two goals, three assists) have already exceeded last season’s totals in just 30% of the minutes.

In order to better interpret this attacking leap, we’ll be breaking down Davies’ early-season heroics, and looking for players who might serve as good benchmarks for projecting the Welshman’s performance over the remainder of the campaign.

Vincent kompany is expected back in the next game week. Doesn't this put any of you off from getting either of stones or otamendi? plus otamendi would probably need to rest after a tough game away to Ecuador and the fatigue that comes along with travelling for a long distance. Getting stones is not so attractive either as the return of kompany and pep's rotation means that he is not nailed from now onwards.

He's hardly a midfielder. Plays more forward than Firmino. Stats between those two are miles apart.

He's not faced good defences like United and Spurs yet. And he blanked against Newcastle. Hardly fixture proof

I think it's time to ditch Alonso.

It's going to be difficult saying goodbye, but with it means I can upgrade Mooy to Sterling and still have a the likes of Ward who is scoring well in his place.

Agree, but it's difficult to justify a £7m outlay who isn't scoring as much as Jones/Otamendi and even Ward.

I would not sell and I wont. Alonso has very good changes to get double digits on each of his next 3 games.

Ward will have to rotate with a Newcastle defender IMO. Downgrade to Otamendi/Luiz etc yes.

His scores will likely improve given the fixtures, great next three.

If you've had him until now it would be silly to sell now their fixtures ease up and there best players are returning.. expect Chelsea to start bashing teams up the next few weeks.

You make a good point. I suppose it’s all about patience with the expensive wing backs.

Wild Carders. Here is the Elliot/Ryan rotation:

      BRI/NEW: EVE 79 CPL 222 SOU 27 BOU 193 STK 178 WAT 250 CPL 213 LIV -138 LEI 236 EVE 88 BUR 219 WAT 241

I can't be bothered with the Fabianski rotation, because it is an obvious car crash after four weeks.

      Elliot/Schmeichel also works excellently.

Can you also do this for Begovic and Elliot from GW11?

the only issue i have with this is that Brighton still probably won't keep clean sheets in favourable fixtures, since they don't seem to be that good?
Swansea have managed clean sheets in some pretty tricky ties before, and Fab is a BAP and save magnet

      Elliot
      Bavies, Cedric, Naughton
      Alli, Silva, Phillips, Carroll
      Kane, Lukaku, Jesus

      Foster, RLC, Mbemba, Long

Would want a -4 there given your rank or just WC.
Defence looks ok this week but long term, no.

WC isn't far away but I wouldn't use it now while you have 2 FT. One week punt involving a Chelsea player looks good to me.

Thanks all - current plan was to WC in GW12 as Naughton & Carroll have decent fixtures for 3 of the next 4. One of these moves this week....

        A) Foster & Phillips -> Forster & Redmond/Choupo/Shaq

        B) Foster & Lukaku -> Sterling & Morata (if fit)

        C) Foster & Lukaku -> Cout & Vardy

I definitely wouldn't wildcard this week. Mbemba or Long to Meet/Ward and play 4-3-3

      Elliot - Ryan/Pope
      Mbemba - Ward - Luiz - Monreal - Davies.
      Fellaini - Coutinho - King - Alli - Silva
      Kane - Jesus - Okazaki

1.6 ITB to get Hazard in if he scores. GTG WC Team?

        (also on WC)

i'm laying off POOL for a bit to see if they can get their mojo back and their next two fixtures are tough. so i'd rather have hazard over either cout (or alli) at the moment.

okazaki could be a canny punt - gl with it if you go that way.

Understanding liverpool they will do well against tougher opponents. Goals will be scored but that def will lose them games.
