Suspensions

Reports confirm that the FA will take no action against Romelu Lukaku following an altercation with Brighton and Hove Albion’s Gaetan Bong in Saturday’s match.

The Manchester United striker appeared to kick out at the defender but will not face a charge or a suspension as a result.

Lukaku has suffered significant Fantasy Premier League sales of late, following returns of just a single goal in six Gameweeks, but he is still part of 45% of squads.

He is already the most sold player ahead of Tuesday’s 6.45pm Gameweek 14 deadline and that lack of form means that the market is unlikely to be affected too much by today’s news, with Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata the key benefactor as the exodus gathers momentum.

Elsewhere, there are some significant additions to the suspension tightrope in Gameweek 13 now confirmed by the FA.

Manchester City’s Leroy Sane is undoubtedly the big new arrival, having picked up his fourth booking of the season at Huddersfield Town on Sunday.

Sane was cautioned in an EFL Cup tie with West Brom earlier in the season to add to his three Premier League bookings; the German is now just a single caution away from a one-match ban.

He has to navigate the next seven Gameweeks without a yellow card in order to avoid a ban.

Similarly, team-mate Fernandinho is also on the brink, having gained his fourth booking at the John Smith’s Stadium.

With the Manchester derby looming, Pep Guardiola’s approach to the selection of these two players will be fascinating.

Both would seem likely to feature in the Gameweek 14 meeting with Southampton but, with West Ham to come before the United clash, Guardiola could show caution for that fixture.

Brighton pair Shane Duffy and Glenn Murray are also new arrivals. They will go into a “local derby” with Crystal Palace just one caution shy of a ban.

Both have proved popular targets of late are owned by a combined 300,000 FPL managers.

Huddersfield’s Rajiv van La Parra is now serving a three-match suspension following his straight red for the “exchange” with Sane and will sit out the next three Gameweek fixtures for the Terriers.

He joins Everton’s Oumar Niasse on the sidelines, with the Senegal striker serving out his two-match suspension in Wednesday’s home meeting with West Ham. He will return for a Gameweek 15 with Huddersfield.

The Suspension Tightrope widget keeps a tally of cards accumulated from all domestic matches across the Carabao Cup, FA Cup and Premier League. It is available under the Watchlist rankings in your right sidebars or via the slide-in menu on mobile and tablet.

It currently shows those players one booking away from a one-match ban.

Just a reminder that players must avoid five yellow cards over their respective team’s first 19 Premier League matches in order to avoid a suspension. Similarly, they must steer clear of 10 cautions over their side’s 32 opening top-flight matches to prevent a ban.

For Fantasy managers, this means that Gameweek 19 – on December 23 – is currently the curfew for five yellow cards. Players, therefore, have seven matches yet to play before the threshold moves to 10 yellow cards.

Still top of mini league, but my lead has been shrinking and is currently 30 points.

    Pope
    Ota, Ward, Dunk, Francis
    Salah, Pogba, Sane, Gross
    Morata (c), Kane

    Elliot, Richarlison, Jones, Abraham

    B). Christensen in for Jones

        Yeah, I know.
Based on teamstats and individual stats he looks better than Kane and Morata, but he is a winger and I feel Kane/Morata are more hungry to get involved in goals. Thats why I'm hesitating.

Have not considered Salah, and dont have Hazard.

    A). Pope or Elliot?
B). I have Bavies... Do you think Rose will play v Lei?

People that plan or already have doubled up on Chelsea's attack with Hazard and Morata, aren't you worried about Chelsea's lackluster attacking stats? They are basically on par with Southampton attacking wise, far behind Liverpool or Man City.

Salah according to these stats and Stoke's terrible defensive stats, especially the 6 shots per goal conceded stat. I'm a bit worried about rotation though.

May not score as many but when they do Hazard and Morata are likely to be involved.

    2. Pierce34
      • 10 Years
      8 years, 4 months ago

I hadn't looked into it in detail, but yes I do worry whether they'll be able to score enough goals to merit a double-up. Of course their schedule gets a lot easier now.

I only have Hazard at the moment in a 3-5-2, but then again there aren't that many forwards I want - if I end up looking at Morata vs. Firmino or Lacazette, Morata will score more points regardless of whether I have Hazard or not.

    3. Jsadler95
      • 9 Years
      8 years, 4 months ago

Honestly not particularly as they've not had the easiest run of fixtures up to now, plus they've had some of their season without their two best players (Hazard, Kante). The thing is, if Chelsea score then it's very likely one of Hazard or Morata will be involved, if not both. The difficulty with Liverpool and City is you just can't predict who's going to score/assist. Salah, Coutinho, Mane, Firmino all are common outlets for Liverpool (though Salah is a clearly pick this year). Sane, Sterling, Jesus, Aguero even Silva and De Bruyne are all common outlets for City. Whereas Chelsea only really have Hazard and Morata with people like Fabregas, Willian, Pedro, Alonso etc. getting involved on occasion.

      1. Jsadler95
        • 9 Years

and I'm sorry but just look at their run of fixtures through to GW27 they're insane. SWA, NEW, whu, hud, SOU, eve, BHA, STK, ars, LEI, bha, BOU, wat, WBA. They could legitimately win every single one of those bar the Arsenal game which will be tougher.

      2. 824545201
        • 9 Years
        8 years, 4 months ago

I think that it's a real possibility that Jesus (same price) with limited minutes will outscore Morata. Aguero as well although he is more expensive.

Man City's attacking stats are very scary, they are an extremely efficient team in both attack and defense. And i don't think it's luck but the quality of the chances they create.

    Jones -> Daniels worth -4?

Other defenders are Otamendi, Fernandez, Mee and Long. Long and Fernandez won't play. 0.0 in the bank whereby dropping Jones could make sense to free some cash to upgrade Long

      • 9 Years

Jones -> Mustafi is better as Arsenal have great fixtures in the long term. Daniels is a good option if you need the money to upgrade Long, but keep in mind he has 3 tough fixtures GW17,18 and 19 so you'll have to bench him in that period.

    Which option?

    A) Jones > Alonso
    B) Sterling + Wilson > Hazard + Niasse (-4)***
    C) Save FT

***Play RLC or Mee (both if Jones & Niasse are out)

    Guys quick question:

    Eriksen+Bertrand >> Hazard+Moreno for -4 hit.

    Worth it or not?!

Any advice guys? my team is a bit messy - 1.7 ITB.

    Schmeichel, Elliot
    Davies, Otamendi, Monreal, Fernandez, Mee,
    Salah, Sterling, Zaha, Chopou-Moting, Carroll,
    Kane, Lukaku, Abraham

    1) Lukaku for Morata (leaves 2.6 ITB)
    2) Lukaku and Carroll for Hazard and Murray -4 (leaves 1.2 ITB)

downgrade Abraham to 4.5 and upg Choupo or Zaha to Pogba imo.

Cheers - I'm not going to lose Zaha though, given his points potential/fixtures, especially with United's immediate fixtures. Choupo is good value atm too but I like Pogba and will consider him in a few weeks.

Logged in hoping to read the Saturday and Sunday Scout Notes (my go to fav articles for a solid weekend round up), only to see tons of reports. Mind blown!
