Rest and rotation casts a huge shadow over Wednesday’s events, until one particular Liverpool player produced 23 minutes of magic.

The Fantasy world went into meltdown when teamsheets were released, with a cast of big hitters either benched or rested completely.

Among the worst hit appeared to be the 49.0% of managers who had made Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah Fantasy Premier League’s (FPL) most owned player. The free-scoring midfielder was named only among the substitutes for the visit to Stoke City.

More than 200,000 managers made him the second most popular transfer target ahead of Gameweek 14 – trailing only Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata – while a further 8.7% handed the Egyptian the captaincy and promptly endured 67 minutes of despair until Jurgen Klopp finally introduced Salah from the bench.

The Reds had been holding on to a tenuous 1-0 lead given to them by Sadio Mane’s goal from a Dominic Solanke cross before Salah weaved his magic, hitting a brace that brought in 11 vital points – with two bonus points adding to the haul.

Mane and Emre Can provided the assists as Salah’s amazing scoring run continued. He now has three braces from the last four Gameweeks and leads the race for the Golden Boot with 12 goals.

Salah’s prodigious season is starting to assume Suarez-like proportions, and he brings the added joy of extra points from goals and clean sheets that come from a midfielder.

In a season where big-hitting attackers are suffering patchy runs or rotation issues – compounded by Gameweek 14’s events – Salah serenely glides on, putting previous Liverpool mainstays such as Philippe Coutinho, also benched tonight, and Robert Firmino in the shade.

With Liverpool looking forward to a fine short-term schedule (bha EVE WBA Bou), Salah’s ownership will surely surge above 50% for Gameweek 15, and his captaincy levels will also continue on an upward curve.

Reds defence deliver on the road

Klopp’s defence held on for a sixth clean sheet of the season, with Alberto Moreno and Joe Gomez spared rotation to start in the full-back spots once again.

The Spaniard has now started nine straight league matches, while the young England international has been involved in eight of the last nine.

Meanwhile, the Liverpool boss confirmed post-match that Ragnar Klavan missed out at the bet365 Stadium through illness.

The Stoke shut-out was Liverpool’s first away from home and with those strong fixtures to come, investment in one of this cut-price pair – they’re both currently available for 4.6 – appears attractive.

As for Stoke, they’ve now conceded 29 goals.

Only West Ham, who were thrashed 4-0 tonight, have allowed more, and the Potters have now kept just two clean sheets from their 14 matches this season.

Much as we’d like to scour the Stoke defence for cut-price options, their current form and confidence is just too weak – even in the light of improving fixtures.

Captain choices are killing me. I will get more than 1 in 6 right one day ha

I was a bit blinded by Chelsea fixtures and Swansea performance, so shouldn't have taken a -4 in hindsight, but never thought Hazard would be rested from the start. After 60/70mins maybe. But he's captain material for Newcastle game for sure. Got a hatrick against them before, that was a good captain day. Repetez s'il vous plait!

It’s Pep no one knows..that would be the sensible thing to do but that’s never the way it works out with Pep. Also someone said last night that Sane is one yellow away from suspension so pep might not want to risk him ahead of Utd

Would love it if Sterling is benched and Sane/Silva get the points instead. I don't even have Silva, but people switching between them need some karma. Doubling up is different, you're rolling the dice so fair play.

Having said that, I think Sterling will start as the Champs League game is a dead game. Plus it's a massive away trip.

Yep. I came to the conclusion a while back that he's good in the air but not very good with his feet. If you take out the games against Stoke & WBA, when those teams had big problems, his form doesn't look that great.

It might sound mad, but i think ill take a 4 point hit to remove Aguero. He just isnt scoring enough and hes such a rotation threat. Only 1 other person in my league has him so it wont be a massive problem if he hauls. I need hazard. So..

Gross + Aguero > Hazard + Niasse - -4? It will leave me with 1.8 in the bank to bring in Pogba after the derby? Or upgrade Silva to Sane?

      Elliot Fabianski
      Otamendi Daniels Mee Moreno Mbemba
      Salah Silva Shaqiri Gross RLC
      Kane Morata Aguero

Is it a good idea? Considering City have west ham home? Atleast Hazard is nailed and has Newcastle home

He came on in the 81st minute. Tough to say.

Thanks ... I hadn't noticed his lack of gametime. That might be a good thing, no? Fresh for the weekend

Hazard seemed to be bit annoyed to get just 10mins. And to see Moses and others to give bad passes when trying to get the ball to him... good for the weekend anyway.

      Any changes needed?

      Pope Elliot
      Dann Moreno Dunk Mee Mbemba
      Pogba Salah Sterling Choupo RLC
      Aguero Kane Morata

.5m ITB and 2FTs; clearly my defense seems to be in shambles, suggestions appreciated!

Anyone going a Chelsea double up? They could feasibly get at least 10 cleans in the next 12. They showed they can do it last year.

Only space for Alonso with having Morata and Haz too..

Reckon Christensen/Azpi could be better value than Haz? Lots of good mids atm.

Can't afford that atm, looking at Jones -> Christensen

Reckon Christensen 6 points a game is better value than Alonso/Azpi?

Hm maybe not, I'd prefer Alonso but can't afford that without downgrading a big gun and take a hit or two, so I'll settle with Christensen

Good to go? I quite like my team now, 5 green arrows running gone from 1.6m to 250k OR in 5 weeks, still not great but getting better!

      Foster (Elliot)
Alonso - Moreno - Daniels (Ward, Hunemeir)
      Hazard (c) - Salah - Sterling - RLC (Gross)
      Morata - Kane - Wilson

      Morning!

What do I do here after a really disappointing gameweek?

      DDG
      Azpi Daniels Mee
      Salah Sane Sterling Richarlison
      Kane Morata Niasse

      Speroni Moreno RLC Kiko

      2 FT 0.6 ITB

      A) Speroni > 4.5 sub-keeper
      B) Daniels > Christensen (double up with Azpi)
      C) Daniels > Mustafi
      D) DDG > Courtois

Ramsey has also been on my radar for the last month...

By the way I could also do
        E) DDG & Sane > Ryan & Hazard

Keep DDG most nailed in the game and getting CS for sure in festive period.

Maybe B from those though then you cant fit Hazard in easily

Recall Fat Sam on TalkSport recently that he would play Rooney up front if he managed him - not good news for Niasse and DLC owners. But I assume that could change really quickly once he sees his lack of pace.

That's putting me off Niasse for now. Messes up Jesus out/Hazard in plan.

        Back down to 1.6k OR

Got 2 FT, but a few fires to put out. Who should go first out of:
        Elliott
        Sterling
        Silva
        Dunk
        Vardy

        A : Elliot/Speroni --> Ugrade -4p
        B : RLC --> Hazard -4
        C : Both -8p
        D : Do nothing

Should i fix the keeperproblem now, or can i afford myself to wait a week?
        Rest of team is :

        Richardilson - Salah - Sane - Sterling - RLC

        Morata - Niasse - Kane
