The curtain falls on Gameweek 18 under the lights of Goodison Park, as a rejuvenated Everton take on an ailing Swansea City.

In Fantasy terms, the focus is quite definitely on the home side and, in particular, their two strikers.

Against the odds, Wayne Rooney is currently revived as a Fantasy option. Perhaps benefitting from the malaise suffered by the premium-priced forward options, Rooney’s 7.5 price tag has attracted over 271,000 new owners ahead of Saturday’s deadline.

Rooney goes into tonight’s contest on the back of five goals and an assist from his last four Gameweeks – all from a No 10 role behind lone striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The 20-year-old is also a factor in tonight’s match. Backed by over 80,000 new owners and now in 560,000 squads, Calvert-Lewin will bid to further his CV as our third striker “enabler”. He boasts three assists and a goal from his last five Gameweek starts.

But with three clean sheets from their last four Gameweeks, the Toffees defence also demands attention.

In particular, both goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and right-back Jonjoe Kenny will be auditioning for further transfer attention tonight. They were signed by 21,000+ and 62000+ ahead of Swansea’s visit in anticipation of yet another shut-out.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      A) flip a coin.. would prolly go for Speroni... but Pope could get a lot of save points.. so im really not sure

    A kind of poll:

Are you more likely or less likely to take hits during the "festive period?"

Especially now, does fortune even more favor the brave or will greater patience, and not taking -4s, pay off in the end?

In other words, what's the best strategy for weathering the fixture storm?

    1. Pea Soup
      • 14 Years
      8 years, 3 months ago

Everyone is more likely to take hits over the festive period because of the number of games and the higher likelihood of injuries and rotation.

    2. Pierce34
      • 10 Years
      8 years, 3 months ago

I don't think there's an answer for this as some hits will work and others won't. As an abstract concept, hits are neither good nor bad, they just depend on the result and a little bit of luck. So there will be replies from both sides saying that their approach worked, but I don't think we can generalise about the best strategy.

      1. Pierce34
        • 10 Years
        8 years, 3 months ago

And to the first question, yes, it's more likely that people take hits, especially with the DGW coming up.

    3. Spartac Mac
      • 9 Years
      8 years, 3 months ago

I think a stronger bench around Christmas is definitely a good idea, and if that means some hits to sub out injured players - I'm all for it.

I just think of hits as a clean sheet or a goal for a striker (4pts).

Is the new player coming in going to better the previous one, and do I want him for the foreseeable future?

    4. L S P
      • 10 Years
      8 years, 3 months ago

One of the problems I'm having though is: with rotation, are the hits even riskier?

For example, normally, I wouldn't have any problem taking a hit so I can do Ramsey->Sterling but will Sterling play? esp in that side.

Now, sure, Rasmey's injured so defo won't play but change it to a sure starter with a lower pts ceiling -> a bench risk with a higher pts ceiling and...well, there you go.

      1. Spartac Mac
        • 9 Years
        8 years, 3 months ago

        True point.

Yeah Pep's rotation when there's 1 fixture a week is tricky...let's just wait until he rotates and rotates some more of the festive period.

    Foster, Elliott
    Otamendi, Ogbonna, Jones, Mee, Daniels
    Salah, Silva, Hazard, Lingard, RLC
    Kane, Lukaku, Okazaki

Unsure what to do. Downgrading Kane and upgrading RLC is tempting. For a hit, I'm unsure.

    Any ideas?
