The curtain comes down on the second of four quick-fire festive Gameweeks this evening as Crystal Palace welcome Arsenal to Selhurst Park.

Up against the only side yet to keep a clean sheet in front of their own fans, the Gunners’ Alexandre Lacazette is the tenth top captain pick for Gameweek 20, handed the armband by 2.1% of Fantasy Premier League managers.

Having found the net in each of the last two, Mesut Ozil is the visitors’ form player, though Alexis Sanchez was back on the scoresheet against Liverpool last time out.

Both are owned by just 2% and could prove big differentials this evening.

Tonight’s teamsheet brings good news for the 11% still holding Sead Kolasinac, as he returns to the starting XI for the first time in four Gameweeks as the visitors revert to a wing-back set-up

The hosts, meanwhile, welcome back Christian Benteke from suspension. He bagged a goal and assist in his previous league appearance away to Swansea to hint at a return to form, though it’s Wilfried Zaha who has been the Eagles’ most impressive attacker of late.

Stationed up top in a front two, he has scored or assisted in five of his six home matches since returning from injury.

That output has been key to a run that’s seen Palace score two goals in each of the last six at Selhurst Park and could prove pivotal against an Arsenal rearguard with just two clean sheets in six on the road.

In a real dilemma who to captain !
    A. Morata

      Quick fire Pros/cons:
A - good fixture, decent differential, indifferent form
B - ok fixture, will be most capped so safest, excellent form
C - good fixture, decent form (but not in FPL terms)

It’s ultimately the OP’s decision, I was just laying out a few reasons which might influence it.

I’m personally on B atm, VC on Morata.

I doubt Salah will be benched when he was hauled off after 70 mins against Swans. He may only get 60-70 again though if the game is in the bag.

Nothing is guaranteed but Salah has been rotated before. Basically the entire Pool squad of mids and forwards are fit now ... plenty of choice to do the 60 min 30 min rotation of any player .... Salah, Cout, Mane, Chamberlain, Can, Wijna, Llalana, Henderson, Firmino, Sturbridge, Solanke ... that is a lot of players desperate for minutes

      Same as

I have DCL and Abraham up top
      Kane on the bench

Salah hazard lingard mahrez sterling in MID

I would lose 0.3 mil if i swap out kane for one week so not gonna bother

I'm in the top 3 of all my mini leagues and so not worried about the cup.

What the rest of your team like?

Is KDB and Hunemieser to Richarlison and Alonso for a -4 madness this week?

Gives me a bench player in case anyone gets rested too?

    Team is
    Pope
    Kenny Jones Otta
    KDB Sterling Salah Hazard RLC
    Firmino DCL

    Speronni Kane Ogbonna Hunemieser

Got Sterling so no I think it’s a decent enough plan as any of Sterling, Salah or Firmino could be rested. I’d also consider Lingard, I have both but Rich has got City next week.

Watching Andy's stream last night and every other question was "when is the scoutcast? When is the scoutcast?"

With so much going on in FPL at the moment (blank gameweeks, double gameweeks, triple captains), I think it's really is poor that there is nothing until after the FA Cup games.

Whilst I agree I’d love a scout cast to hear their opinions and clear my own mind, I think it’s unrealistic and unfair to expect it of them at this time of year.

For once Virg you are spot on. Scoutcast should be a defo at this time of year. Even if they just recorded and posted a shortened version would be good.

I'd have liked to have squeezed one in but the folk who appear with me in the evening volunteer their time away from their families and, given that, I don't think it would have been fair of me to schedule one.

Added to that, with matches almost every night and an extra GW at Xmas, my time is my stretched to make sure that the editorial - the main focus of the site - continues. I'd have wanted to have hosted it rather than hand it over.

We've never produced a ScoutCast between Xmas and New Year in previous season's to my knowledge so it's not like we've cut this for this season.

I don't think anyone can accuse FFS of taking Xmas off but there has to be a balance - I know my family lose out a lot of the time to Fantasy Football so I feel it's appropriate to take this break from the ScoutCast at least. I'll think about it more for next season perhaps now that the audience has grown so much.

Of course, Mark, you are obviously extraordinarily busy and family must come first - especially at this time of year.

It's still disappointing because we are all big fans and love the show. But yeah, totally understand - with so many articles being published between very tight gameweek deadlines, it's abundantly clear how hard the chaps at FFS work. Especially Paul who was writing content on Christmas Day.

Evening all 🙂 Slightly odd question/set of variables here, but which combo do you think scores the most over the next 2 weeks?

    A) Firmino (LEI, bur), Alonso (STK, ars)
    B) Dunk (new), Morata (ars), Christensen (STK, ars) + 8

Thanks 🙂 Yep if we find out Christensen’s still I’ll I think I’ll probably take the plunge for A, but as much as I like Alonso and want to make up for eventually choosing Morata/Christensen over Firmino/Alonso last GW, I think it’s hard to justify the hits.

My guess at the scout picks for GW21. Last week (GW20) was excellent by them:

    Pope
    Jones - Otamendi - Alonso
    Salah - Hazard - Sterling - Lingard - Richarlison
    Firmino - Morata

                Salah - high ownership.

Hazard might haul, but I can see him doing a lot of assisting the assister which is not good for FPL. Chelsea have only scored 16 goals at home this season. Compare that to City(36), Utd(24), Arsenal(25), Spurs(21), Liverpool(19) and Everton(17).

I am playing the percentage game this GW.

Arguably the games are on par difficulty-wise. And regardless whether we think Kun is the no. 1 striker, that hasn’t stopped him being rotated thus far in the season. Is there a reason to expect that he’ll be rotated less than he has been so far despite this being the busiest time of the season?

If the differential captain fails it’s hard to get over as the safe option often scores better. Just play the percentages.

Liverpool fan so try my best to avoid United players haha. Lingard was only brought in because he’s the best option by quite a distance currently. Not that convinced by United defence anymore anyway tbh, looks a bit shakier than at the start of the season. Happy with Azpi, Otamendi, Ogbonna, Kenny and Robertson for now. With Pope and Adrian rotation.

I’d say so. I’ll have Adrian, Ogbonna, Kane and Son/Alli. Not convinced on Spurs defence without Alderweireld and Lloris is a great keeper but been pretty mistake prone lately.

    3. Third Eye Vision
      • 13 Years

I’ll have Kane, a Spurs mid, Arnie & Ogbonna. The thing stopping me from getting a Spurs def is the fact that the only one I’d want is Vert and I think 6 is too much and I prefer my current keeper to Lloris.

Debating whether to go in on DGW players (Alli, Son, Annie) or just bypass & plan long term. Not sure I want to be sitting over the extended break between GW22-23 with Arnautovic in my side.

TC'ing Kane already feels like a massive investment in the DGW without taking a lot of hits as well

    1. Jsadler95
      • 9 Years
      8 years, 6 months ago

This is similar for me, TCing Kane when I’ll also have Son feels like quite a big investment and I won’t be happy if it goes poorly.

Arnie has decent games, playing oop and is getting returns, so not worried about him. Not sure I'd want 3 Spurs attack though, I'm getting one midfielder and probably getting rid pretty soon.

        • 11 Years

last season I took hits to get Sterling, Sane and Aguero (TC) = 0-0 vs Stoke

    4. the snazzy viking
      • 9 Years
      8 years, 6 months ago

Arnie's got good fixtures after those 2 games so wouldn't worry about him, you could probably keep him for a while after that

The Spurs midfielder you get should be one you think is nailed to start both games and will score points. Eriksen for me seems the only pick out of the bunch that you could consider holding long term. Maybe Son too but is there too much rotation risk?

I think just go with the players you want with an eye on how long you're going to keep them for and have a plan B if they fail to impress

Arnautovic isn’t a bad pick after the double gameweek. The fixtures are good and he has form.
