Attentions now turn to our pre-Gameweek members’ article next as we assess the leading captaincy candidates for the upcoming round of fixtures.

Starting off with an analysis of the Captain Poll, we then move onto the Opta numbers before checking up on the Rate My Team ratings and considering a couple of differential options for the first double Gameweek of 2017/18.

The Captain Poll

Spurs’ main men dominate our Captain Poll for Gameweek 22 ahead of a trip to Swansea and home clash with West Ham.

Having struck back-to-back hat-tricks against Burnley and Southampton, Harry Kane approaches the double in his most prolific form of the season.

Over 60% have voted for the Spurs striker, who now has seven sets of double-figures to his name, though with doubts over Kane’s fitness due to illness, the likes of Son Heung-min (9%), Christian Eriksen (5%) and Dele Alli (4%) could emerge as big armband differentials.

Son has started each of the last six Gameweeks and flourished thanks to a security of pitch-time, racking up four goals and as many assists in that period.

Eriksen has two goals and three assists over that stretch, blanking on just once, while Alli’s return to form has been perfectly timed – he’s supplied a goal and four assists in Spurs’ last two Gameweeks.

Spurs’ opponents have hardly been resilient in recent matches – the Swans have conceded 14 times in five, while West Ham have shipped three goals to both Newcastle and Bournemouth in their previous two.

For the Hammers, Marko Arnautovic (2%) has upped his output since being moved up front by David Moyes.

The Austrian has scored five times in as many Gameweeks, producing 41 FPL points. He hosts a West Brom side with two clean sheets on the road all season before travelling to Wembley, where Spurs have delivered a shut-out in just one of their previous four.

Manuel Lanzini is the Hammers’ other form candidate. The Argentine has averaged a reasonable 4.6 points per match under Moyes, producing five assists and six bonus points in eight outings.

With Arsenal and Chelsea going head-to-head at the Emirates, our singe-Gameweek alternatives are likely to be from Man City and Liverpool’s attacks.

Man City’s opponents Watford arrive at the Etihad without a clean sheet in eight attempts and suffered a late home loss to Swansea at the weekend. The Hornets will be hoping to avoid a repeat of the 6-0 hammering to Pep Guardiola’s side back in Gameweek 5.

Rested to the bench at Crystal Palace, Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling are likely to pose the main goal threat.

Sterling has delivered four sets of double-digits at home this season and has served up 10+ points in each of his last three league starts.

Aguero delivered 16 points in his previous home match and collected 20 points against the Hornets in Gameweek 5, thanks to three goals and an assist.

Liverpool make their way to Burnley – where Kane recently struck three times – with Mohamed Salah, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino all in fine form.

Salah has already produced double-digits against the Clarets earlier in the season and with 12 sets of returns in 13 Gameweeks. However, reports suggest that he could well miss out at Turf Moor having picked up a knock in the win over Leicester City.

Biggest decision of the season so far. Triple captain. Would be good if some of the scoutcast team could give us some expert insight into their thinking. I know Jonty is relectuant

Currently -8 and considering doing another -8

How much do you value a Free Hit card at and a Wild Card in terms of points? At what -ve points us it sensible to

    a) wildcard?
    b) free hit card?

for all those pondering over the TC. i will re post some points i made earlier from earlier - maybe it helps some people:

1 - the TC chip is worth between 10 to 15 points on average - this is NOT a wc and less than bench boost.
2 - some people would consider even just the second game, west ham at home, as a decent option for kane (TC) in the form he is in now.
3 - with free hit, wc, and bench boost - there are only so many DGW opportunities to use all the chips - you might not get anything near this quality of an opportunity to TC
4 - most reports say kane is healthy now, and anyway the game is tomorrow not today so an extra day of rest.
5 - Spurs are fighting hard for CL spot - kane is at no risk of rest if healthy.

Final argument in favour of TCing Kane.
Please feel free to tell me what you think.

    1) Kane is fine
    2) Spurs need to win against Swansea AND West Ham, as their season so far has not been as good as expected
    3) Swansea have won their last game, have a new coach and they are hitting form
    4) It is risky for Poch not to play Kane in both.
    5) Kane will play both

Kane had a cold last Wednesday or Thursday. It's a cold - not swine flu or malaria or mad cow disease.

Swansea management too soon to judge but we do know Watford have been pretty woeful all Xmas.

Can't argue with the form. Burnley excellent at home, Kane going to blank etc - hat-trick, could have had 5. Could have had another 5 against Southampton.

      If kane available he plays.

It's Kane. How many other players would you trust with TC? Fixtures don't get much better. Form does not get much better. Repeats last 2 games it is a 104pts. If there is a player that can do that it is Kane.

Decided to TC Kane. Had planned to all along for all these reasons...

    1) Recent explosive form
    2) Spurs traditionally strong around December / Jan
    3) Excellent fixtures
    4) Swansea - under new manager in first home game, can’t see them sitting back too much and they don’t have the personnel to do so
    5) West Ham - he loves a derby
    6) Unlike many possible TC options over the season, he is THE main man and rarely rotated. Everyone looks to feed him.
    7) If not now, then when? At the end of the day, it’s now the least important chip after BB and FH so don’t overthink it.

I’m not being put off all of the above because he had a few Lemsips four days ago.

    tldr = HARRY KANE (TC)

See my points above. All hinges on Kane being actually fine.

    HNY all!

    Adrian/(darlow)
    Dunk/davies/ogbonna/(jones,wimmer)
    Son/sterling/arnautovic/salah/choupo-moting

Maybe a little too much fear on this TC issue. The safest play is to captain and then you are covered whether Kane makes it or not. Truth be told any other week I'd be chomping to captain Aguero.

Is it worth doing Morata->Aguero for a -8? Aguero against WHAT looks tasty imo and Morata has got a tough fixture hasn't he?

Aguero not in form though? And has a tougher fixture next week?

Lots of rotation and doubts has made me consider playing my Free Hit. How’s this?

    Adrian (3.9)
Ogbonna / Duffy / Otamendi (Wimmer / Dummett)
    Arnautovic / Eriksen / Son / Sterling / Willian
    Kane (c) / Aguero (Quaner)

Not sure if FH is suitable for this gw but if i had to play it my team would have been very similar to yours
