We now turn to our pre-Gameweek members’ article to run the rule over the main captaincy candidates for the upcoming round of fixtures.

First up, we assess the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) form among the top picks in our Gameweek Captain Poll, then check in with the Opta numbers and Rate My Team ratings before considering a differential or two for Gameweek 27.

The Captain Poll

There’s a clear pecking order to our Gameweek 27 Captain Poll, with Mohamed Salah well ahead at the summit thanks to 33% backing.

The Liverpool winger continues to rack up the FPL points with consummate ease – last week’s two-goal haul at home to Spurs was the 15th time in his last 17 league outings that he’s delivered attacking returns.

Salah has now produced double-digits on 11 occasions this season, and one of those was a 16-point haul against the Saints at Anfield in Gameweek 12.

Up against a defence with just a single clean sheet in their last 13 home fixtures, Roberto Firmino could prove a valid differential. Only 1% are considering the Brazilian, who has three sets of 10+ points hauls in his last five away starts.

A home clash with Leicester City earns Sergio Aguero second spot, on 22%.

The Argentine let down the 16.6% of FPL managers who handed him the armband away to Burnley last time out, but his home form is relentless – Aguero has seven goals and 45 FPL points from his last four at the Etihad Stadium.

Earning just 2% of the votes, Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne have both served up double figures on five occasions in front of their own supporters. Leicester, meanwhile, have kept just two clean sheets on the road all season.

Surprisingly, only 12% are considering Harry Kane for the north London derby at Wembley Stadium in Saturday’s early kick-off.

Yet the Spurs frontman has a fine record against Arsenal, with six goals in as many league appearances against them.

Kane, who has scored at least twice in four of Spurs’ last nine at Wembley, could profit against a defence that’s struggled for resilience on the road, with three clean sheets in 13 attempts.

Interest in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (2%) is on the rise after he kick-started his career at the Emirates Stadium with a debut goal in last week’s 5-1 win over Everton.

Subject to more acquisitions than any forward in the Gameweek, the January signing produced 69 goals and 10 assists in 79 Bundesliga appearances over the past two-and-a-half seasons at Borussia Dortmund. Curiously, he also has four goals in as many appearances against Spurs over the past couple of seasons.

Big-hitting midfielders Eden Hazard and Alexis Sanchez were both among the goals last time out, but have earned just 5% and 3% backing for head-to-heads with West Brom and Newcastle respectively.

At home to a Baggies’ backline with one clean sheet in 12 on the road, Hazard has struggled for consistency this term, yet has still delivered a respectable four goals and 37 points in the last five Gameweeks.

After opening his account for Man United, Sanchez will fancy his chances at St James’ Park, where the Magpies have a single clean sheet in eight attempts.

Elsewhere, both Theo Walcott and Callum Wilson (1% apiece) have the form to offer up further differential options.

Walcott has bagged two goals and an assist in his pair of home appearances for Everton ahead of Crystal Palace’s visit to Goodison Park.

Four goals and two assists in the last seven Gameweeks showcases Wilson’s potential as Bournemouth travel to face a Huddersfield defence with just one clean sheet in their previous 10 league matches.

SCOUT PICKS CHALLENGE - GAMEWEEK 27

Gameweek results will be tomorrow sorry I’m really behind! On holiday next week. Been working 50+ hour weeks..

    ****** WHAT IS IT? ******

For those of you who haven't been around or aren't aware, every evening prior to the start of the gameweek FFS releases their picks of players for the gameweek, "Scout Picks", as well as 3 differentials before the first games to separate yourself from the crowd.

This is your way to have a bit of fun and challenge those scout picks with a set of your own (read instructions below). This will always open the day before the gameweek starts around 8pm, and whilst you don't have to play weekly, the more you play the better chance you have of winning!

Gameweek winners will also be awarded a spot in the Community Roundup article.

    ****** INSTRUCTIONS ******

Everyone can have their own scout picks (there is no limit on team value) but with one simple rule,

YOU CAN ONLY PICK ONE PLAYER FROM EACH TEAM
(yes, two of your players at least will be on opposing teams).

You can only have ONE submission, and your FIRST submission will be what is accepted. You also must respond DIRECTLY to this post (not to a reply on this post). FFS Scout Picks are automatically enrolled. Teams must comply with FPL formation rules and be submitted in an easy to read format, e.g.

    GK
    DEF DEF DEF
    MID MID MID MID
    FOR FOR FOR

Deadline for this gameweek is Sat 10th February 11.30am.

    ****** SCORING ******

Regardless of number of applicants, scoring will be done by the following:

    1st place: 3 points
Top 4% of the population will rank "second" and score 2 points.
Top 10% of the population will rank "third" and score 1 point.

There is also a bonus point which everyone is eligible for. If you score higher than FFS' Scout Picks AND Differential Picks (i.e. 14 players), you will be awarded with a bonus point regardless of whether you were in the top 10% scoring positions or not.

Welcome to the game, and good luck.

Kane - tough fixture for spurs to win maybe, tough fixture for Kane to score goals? not so sure
Salah - You cannot argue with his form. and really unless you captain him you’re not going to get the best out of him

I don’t think KDB won’t do well, but the same arguments you apply to the above can apply to Leicester

          good luck either way! 🙂

Managers who are not free hitting in GW31, would you consider bringing in a Stoke def, say Shawcross, or Everton defender (but no one below 5m is nailed?!?), or is there a nailed on sub-5m Liverpool def, for Mbemba this Gameweek in preparation for GW31 just in case Alonso doesn’t play so I’d have a decent player to come in for him this week plus a player for GW31?

Yeah, but it would be a non-playing bench-fodder to a playing bench-fodder that could be a used auto-sub this GW in case Alonso misses again... Even without GW31 it would be a good option, it's just that without GW31 I would not pick a Stoke def...

    Evening all.
Thinking of making the following changes for a 4 point hit this Gameweek. But what are your thoughts?

    Loftus-Cheek + Depoitre + Vardy out

    Walcott + Wilson + Niasse

Niasse may only be for one week though.

Damn this is tempting me to captain Kane. Going to the game tomorrow as well. Nerve wracking playing the gooners as it is.

    Save me.

      I am going with Mo.
As an arsenal fan i can't captain kane

As a Spurs fan I can but it's nervewracking asf haha if we lose or draw and he doesn't bag that's bad enough but captain on top will be devastating.

Think I've got to go Mo for the sanity of the heart lol

        Difficult one for me

I may end up going Salah

Support Spurs and I'm going to the game so a Spurs win and Kane goal regardless of captain would be great

If he blanks and we don't win and I've captained him will be ultimate headloss haha

      1 Delofeu
2 it's a hatd decision. I would go with vardy due to liverpool's rotation while in the champions league

Going Salah as I don't own any other pool players and I'm fed up with hoping for such an attacking team to blank. Also, I couldn't deal with a Kane blank in the early fixture.

Jones going to play this weekend? My other defenders are Alonso, Gomez, Duffy, Maguire - worried about fielding 3 defenders

    Currently on:
    Foster (Speroni)
    Azpi, Ota, Cresswell (Mee, Mbemba)
    Sterling, KDB, Salah, Shaq (RLC)
    Kane, Firmino, Ayew

    1.9 ITB, 2 FT

Maybe a good moment to solve the Speroni issue and save 1 FT?

    A) Speroni > Pickford
    B) Cresswell > Mawson
    C) RLC > Milijovevic

    Opinions? Thanks in advance!

What is it about Mo that seems to put me off? He’s been so good and so consistent, yet I can’t seem to captain him

          • 9 Years

I think it's the fact (maybe I'm speaking for myself) that I feel he's consistently performing so the time I decide to captain him there's a chance he may blank

Was going to bring in Son but I see he's the fastest selling player.
He has started their last 12 games and has been playing well.
What gives? Should I get someone else? Have Lingard, Salah, Sterling, Walcott, Mahrez and 2m in the bank.

    Adrian
    Ota Alonso Naughton
    Lingard Sterling Salah Choupo KDB
    Firmino Kane

Elliot Zanka Ogbonna Quaner 2FT 0.4 ITB

    A) Lingard to Deulofeu
    B) Lingard and Ota to Walcott and VVD/Robertson
    C) Something else?
