Harry Kane’s 88th-minute goal hands Spurs a win and 1.2 million Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers a respectable outcome for their decision to hand him the Gameweek 28 armband.

Only Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah (1.6m) was captained by more than the Tottenham striker as the pair’s Golden Boot duel goes on, with Kane one goal ahead on 24.

Yet in the FPL head-to-head, Salah has now outscored Kane in each of the last four Gameweeks, bettering him by 46 points to 18 in that period.

And looking at that personal battle across the season, the Egyptian again prevails by 16 Gameweeks to 11, with one draw.

Both players ended Gameweek 28 without any bonus points, however.

Kane was profligate in the 1-0 win at Crystal Palace, missing two big chances and firing four of his six shots off target.

He has now scored a single goal in each of his last three matches, only to miss out on bonus points every time.

Then again, on another day Kane might have had at least one chance to score more from the penalty spot, with what looked like a clear foul on Ben Davies by Palace keeper Wayne Hennessey going unpunished.

A six-point haul was just about enough for the 158,000+ managers who made him the third most signed player of Gameweek 28, and his winner again underlined his peerless record on the road – Kane now has 13 goals, and six from his last four starts, away from home.

Handed a place in our Scout Picks, Christian Eriksen provided the assist – his first since Gameweek 22 – from a corner to reward the 112,000+ who bought him in following his star turn, and goal, at Juventus in the Champions League.

The Dane strengthened his claim as the go-to option in Tottenham’s midfield. He fired five efforts on goal today and has now created 14 chances for team-mates in the last four Gameweeks – only Eden Hazard (15) has more.

But the 11.9% who own Son Heung-min had to make do with a 10-minute substitute appearance from their man.

The South Korean had started 13 successive league matches before today, but the intense competition for the third attacking midfielder spot means that he no longer looks a secure pick.

Erik Lamela got the nod at Selhurst Park, while new signing Lucas Moura again caught the eye when introduced from the bench.

Lamela was also preferred to Son in the recent trip to Juventus, meaning the latter’s only start in the last three matches was at Rochdale in the FA Cup.

Son had failed to score in the previous four Gameweeks and today’s sub role may well be the final straw for his 11.9% owners – he is already the fourth most sold player in FPL over the last 24 hours.

Furthermore, should Spurs win their midweek replay with Rochdale, their home match with Newcastle will be taken out of Gameweek 31.

Backline to the fore

Gameweek 28’s most popular purchase was Ben Davies, who was acquired by 293,000+ managers ahead of yesterday’s deadline.

Spurs’ 13th clean sheet of the season and a single bonus point brought in a good haul for the Welshman, who has now started eight successive league matches.

Fellow defender Davinson Sanchez picked up two bonus points, while Palace’s James Tomkins – who claimed a clean sheet having been withdrawn before Kane’s goal – was awarded the maximum.

An ankle injury meant Jan Vertonghen failed to start in the league for the first time this season and Toby Alderweireld also missed out with a minor hamstring complaint.

Mauricio Pochettino’s line-up for Gameweek 29’s visit from Huddersfield this Saturday might well involve other, less enforced, changes as it falls just four days before the second leg of their Champions League tie with Juventus.

Spurs face Rochdale in the FA Cup this Wednesday, so presumably the likes of Kieran Trippier and Danny Rose, who were rested today, will get the nod there.

Serge Aurier is suspended for the Juventus match and looks highly likely to feature against Huddersfield as a result.

However, on the left, the situation is a little cloudier. Should Pochettino look to start Davies against Juventus, there’s a chance that Rose could come in against the Terriers and earn a first start since Gameweek 20.

More pain for Palace

Roy Hodgson now has an injury list long enough to create an entire team, which forced him to hand 20-year-old Aaron Wan-Bissaka a debut at right-back.

By the time the match was done, the Palace boss had even more issues.

Tomkins was withdrawn with what appeared to be another knock and could now be a doubt for the Gameweek 29 visit from Man United.

Loan signing Timothy Fosu-Mensah will already miss that match as he is ineligible to play against his parent club, leaving Hodgson clinging to the hope that Mamadou Sakho will be back from the calf injury that has kept him out for the last two Gameweeks.

If not, then a United attack that rediscovered some form against Chelsea today could well profit from the makeshift defence they’ll face next Monday evening.

Chelsea themselves then entertain the Eagles in Gameweek 30, while a home match with Hodgson’s men in a reduced Gameweek 31 could be good news for Huddersfield’s Fantasy prospects.

Any suggestions here? I am not using my FH in GW31
    1FT 0ITB

    Pickford
    VVD Jones Tarkowski
    Salah Sterling Eriksen Shaqiri
    Kane Firmino Wilson

    Pereira Walcott Mariappa Otamendi

    A) Jones > GW31 defender
    B) Sterling > Mahrez

Nice setup for 31. In your position I would save, since you have one transfer only.

A is not bad, but if its for gw31 player, might as well hold the transfer.

I decided to keep Sterling so, wont do B

      Save it is.

    Help a brother out thanks.

    Fabianski
Van Dijk / Naughton / Monreal
    Salah / Shaq / Stanislas / Sterling
    Firmino / Wilson / Vardy

    Schmeichel / Milivojevic / Hegazi / Jones

Good set up going to 31, but trying to find the best move this week. Have 2 FTs with 9.4 mil itb. The dilemma is, do I go for more 31 players or is it too much? All chips available but Ive used the wildcard.

Contemplating if move like Jones > Ake will make it harder later to prepare for post 31.But still I got to use a transfer this week. Hmm.

I'd get Kane if I were you, he's got HUD & bou in his next two fixtures. He could easily get double digit hauls in both

Decided not to get Kane for now cause of few factors. Im in the Salah captaincy camp, and since I wont put the armband on Kane, decided maybe better off him for now. Need a big couch though.

If you're going to go next 2 GW without Spurs attack (Kane, Eriksen...etc.) you might get punished.
Except for Liverpool assets, GW31 will be low scoring anyway...

You should have been part of the community tournament, bro. 🙁

I agree with the rest, get Kane. If you want a GW 31 defender, Dawson or Schindler is probably a better shout than Ake. That's a lot of money in the bank, haha. 🙂

I bet it was a good fun tournament you guys having. I think I was a bit busy in real life at the time it started. Remembered the World Cup tournament i joined few years back, was a blast.

Can't have Dawson since I got Hegazi already. Maybe pulling the trigger on Jones > Davies tonight and look at Vardy > Kane after the Rochdale game.

Rooting on Rochdale to produce an upset, make it easier.

already used wc i would think you´ve got enough of those bgwers. i would rather focus on preparation for the dgw, if i were in your position. in that respect, Jones and Sterling are you happy going into dgw with them? Sterling is difficult to judge but one must take into account that in gw34 the league will pretty much be settled and one would suspect Pep to concentrate more on the chl? I would wait on Sterling, but Jones could be transfered into one certain dgw defender for instance? Or you could go Kane already? Not sure what i would do but at least don´t use more than one transfer?

Snow and very cold weather forecast (cold in a UK context). It's still likely to go ahead because I seem to remember that Arsenal's ground has a good under-pitch heating system, but you never know. Safety for the crowd etc etc

This sideways move for free Choupo to Shaqiri, yes or no?

Wanted Shaqiri before and decided to save some money with Choupo so I can get Jones few GWs ago. That went well. 🙁 I don't like chasing points but he seems to be involved in everything they do. Sterling to Mahrez/Eriksen is another option I like, but have lots of value in Sterling so reluctant to do it.

            Do we trust Stoke, though?

Had a chance 4 weeks ago to get KDB & Shaqiri, but needed to ditch cursed Christenses and Jones was punushing me at the time, so needed some money to upgrade him. Went with Choupo & KDB and "upgraded" Christensen to Jones. Shaq went crazy and got points in every single game, Jones finally conceded and a goal and then got injured after being healthy for 9 straight GWs and of course Christenses started to start and finish games. Choupo...you already know that. 🙂

Shaq is a strange player in that he's seems to be allergic to scoring in less glamorous ways 😆

He's missed a handful of chances in the box over the last several games, and it was those stats against Hudds and Watford (+Arnie's injury at the same time) that made people eager to get him

Choupo to score 7/2, Shaqiri to score 21/5. Is Shaqiri more likely to assist than Choupo?!? Downgrade, not upgrade imo.

I look at the Choupo as the passenger at the team. He is nowhere to be seen. I'm sure if I make the switch, it will be Choupo who's gonna score in GW31 with Shaq blank. That's how it went lately. Ditched Lingard and of course he scored from the bench. 🙂

He will go probably, but only when I see City not playing as dedicated as they currently are. Pep is known to play his best players even when title is won so will see if that happens. KDB to Shaqiri just seems wrong on so many levels. 🙂
So when KDB goes, he'll go for some big hitter most likely.

i had exactly the same problem. i managed to convinced myself not to swap chupo for shaq for a -4. look at how that turned out.

2 in the next 5games is not against the top 5. im now trying to convince myself not to swap. is he fixture prove? shows up against big sides?

Comparison tool says they're quite there with expected goals. Poor for both, it's just that feeling that Shaq got 30 points and Choupo got 8 in last 4 GWs. Shaq scored all three goals in their last 4 GWs. He could also be on pens now that Adam missed the last one. Hate it. Should probably just make the move and not overthink it. 🙂 He's the man in form. 🙂

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated

    Lloris, gomez
    Ota, jones, daniels, naughton, 3.9
    sterling, gross, lingard, salah, carroll
    kane, aguero, firminio

    1FT

Hard to recommend without knowing your strategy for 31. It looks OK to save though.

    Pope
    Mariappa - Naughton - Robertson
    Sterling - Salah - KDB - Walcott - Eriksen
    Kane - Firmino
    (Elliot - Ayew - Kenny - Hunemeier)

    1,2 ITB 1 FT.

I want to do Walcott --> Shaq/Mahrez. But would be stupid considering GW 31, and I got other problems to sort first.

So I'm leaning on saving the FT, and probably transfering Ayew to a playing attacker for GW.

    Sounds fair?

Saving is best. You never know, in couple of weeks, Shaq for example could get injured and you dodge a bullet.

Ayew > Mounie/Wilson good plan to look at. Wont pull the trigger just yet.

    Pope

    Jones, Ota, VVD

    Mahrez, Walcott, Sterling, Salah

    Kane, Wilson, Ayew

    Elliott, Gudmonsen, Duffy, Mustafi

    1) Go 3-5-2 and bring in Mane for Gudmonsen?

2)Follow the herd and bring in Firmino for Wilson?

If you're chasing go Mane, otherwise Firmino. Depends on your rank. Mane is less owned.

Normal himself. Worth considering. The problem is that he has been lately over performing with rate that cannot continue.

But if you have Eriksen better options are hard to find.

Leicester wasn´t at their best but Mahrez had a one one chance with keeper, one great save from butland denied him (great curled shot from the pen spot approx), had one assist denied as it hits the post from ndidis header and had a total of 6 goal attempts. Bournemouth and West Brom can´t defend atm so looks good on paper at least

    Advice needed pls guys.

At the moment I have Son and Depoitre but want to change it up.

    Thinking of selling both for:

    A) Willian & Vardy
    Or
    B) Firminho and £6.2m to spend on a midfielder (Gross?)

    What do you guys think?

Morning guys, need to freshen up my defence but who to get and for whom? 1 FT and 0.8 ITB.

Bavies, Monreal, Azpi, Mawson? Is Jones out long term? Or should I save and let Ogobonna/Kenny come off the bench?

    DDG
    Ota - VVD - Jones
    Salah (c) - Mahrez - Walcott - Shaq
    Kane - Firm - Wilson

    Speroni - Rich - Ogbonna - Kenny

The final decision always lies with you, the player, though.

Many reasonably advised me to get Mahrez and VVD instead of Mane and Robertson, but I chose the latter and have so far been well rewarded for it this GW

Massively appreciate this but when multiple players are talking you out of something it's hard to ignore. That being said, I don't understand why I allowed someone to talk me out of two Spurs players at Palace... They tricked me with the GW31 blank which I would've happily blanked / gone without.

Got drunk Friday night, made no changes (rofl). Got Lingard on the bench (6) and DCL starting for some absurd reason (I haven't started DCL in weeks).

Naughton blanked and Pope lost his CS.
Vardy captained a sexy 2 pointer for me.

But you asked about this ....
Ota, Alonso & Ramsey > Trippier, Davies & Eriksen with a -4 (you were also talked out of other moves like Chilwell and Delofeu)

Ota and Ramsey haven’t even played yet ?

Your problems were more to do, as you say, with other decisions you made ... chin up, dust your self down and onto the next week like the rest of us 🙂
