Having struggled to make an impact in his opening matches for Manchester United, Alexis Sanchez has made a timely return to form ahead of Double Gameweek 34.

Back-to-back double-digit hauls against Swansea and Man City, denying the latter of the title at the Etihad Stadium, has reignited confidence in the Chilean’s Fantasy prospects.

With Jose Mourinho’s men set for a kind pair of fixtures against West Brom and Bournemouth, Sanchez looks a ready-made differential in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), boasting a 3% ownership.

In this latest Monitor article for members’, we run the rule over Sanchez’s recent form for the Old Trafford outfit to assess whether he could be worth the hefty 11.5 outlay.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Sanchez was 12.0 this season, and already Salah has had a muvh better season than Sanchez did last season. Salah 12.5 / 13.0 imo.
Would be nice if they made both him and Kane 12.5

Kane has been poor value for 12.5 and hence needs to be reduced to 11.5

I was being a little facetious. Salah in one game has scored more than any player has managed in a DGW in the ten years I've played the game. Yes, it was likely a one-off. But people seem determined to have 15DGW players for their BB

The other haul of Saah's I keep being reminded of when people talk about resting is the 13 points he managed in less than half an hour v Stoke

i'm chasing & was hoping he'd still be carrying a slight knock... on FH & decided i'd gamble without him for this DGW. he'll be back in 35 so not too much of an issue to me. now for someone not on a FH... it's a massive call.

who's the rest of your midfield? one of them to Lingard maybe?

      Son could out do Erikson
      Willian double aswell.

if not FHing in 35 then save 2nd ft & just do Auba to Vardy & have 2 fts in 35

7 days after bou, 3 or 4 before cl semi? You expect some won't start for 10 or 11 days? This is how players will get injured

You genuinely expecting rob, mo, bobby , manr all to play 3 days before a CL semi against the worst team in the league?

        1. Freddo
          • 8 Years
          7 years, 8 months ago

Why would they have to? If the Liverpool team that played against Everton can't beat the bottom of the league side so their first team could be fully rested and fresh for the semi then questions need to be asked of Klopp.

Really, they could beat Bournmouth and then Brighton on the last day of the season and be secure (even though they pretty much are now)

      2. Hotdogs for Tea
        • 10 Years
        7 years, 8 months ago

But that is exactly what Klopp did a few years ago in EL and even rested Firmino on the weekend in the Merseyside Derby?

66% of the Liverpool PL squad do not start on any given game week, which means a minimum of 14 days without starting a game and they aren't all rolling over injured .... and that is just a fact of PL life ... Salah will be nursed through 35 to 37 and get enough minutes to stay sharp, either 25 or 65 minutes per game.

Downgrade somewhere to get Kane for Auba - Alonso or Son look the main candidates although either could backfire

Thanks, could work out 🙂 Son and Auba -> Lingard and Kane could be good, can't get Lukaku then because already have 3 United-players then

He’ll get minutes in both imo and start one for sure. Hard to predict United’s line up they have a lot of options.

This article and a look at some of the member's stats (last 4 matches) has raised a few concerns regarding Alexis Sanchez's position in my FH34 team.

Is Paul Pogba actually a better bet at 3.6m cheaper (albeit a punt)?

    Thanks.

I remember Pogba used to take free kicks to cross into the box - now it looks like Sanchez takes them and Pogba is in the box getting on the end of things. Keep in mind this was one game vs City and Mourinho changes his team for single matches like this quite often. You never know he could be back playing deeper or even on the bench at some point so for me Sanchez is a safer bet - also apparently he is on penalties now.

Thanks BigRedDog - that's very useful and quite reassuring.

At 3% ownership, I think I'll stick with the relative safety of Sanchez....

            Hi Alnair,

Hasn't actually changed in the last 24 hours - so maybe I have settled on the winning formula....

            DDG,
            Tarkowski, Morgan, Lowton
            Sanchez, Eriksen, Mahrez, Arnie
            Kane, Lukaku, Austin

That's a really nice team mate. I'm not bold enough to go without Salah so mine looks like this

              Lloris
              Smalling Lowton Chilwell
              Salah Alli Pogba Mahrez
              Kane Lukaku Austin

I'm still not content with it tbh...

Looks good too - had to move early and sell Salah as his price drop this week would have prevented me from putting the above team together.

Doesn't feel entirely comfortable without him - but the good news is that many won't be captaining him this week and therefore the impact is lessened if he does haul. And the upside is considerable if he does underwhelm and the dgwers do well......

I agree, though looking at our teams it seems mostly down to Salah/Pogba vs Sanchez/Arnie. I'm actually priced out of the latter option and would have to downgrade Lloris to Courtois, but I think it's such a tough call that I may as well just stick.

This got bottomed of a previous page.

Any drafts yet for GW35 FH teams? I'm trying to see how close I can get to it, without using my FH (saving for GW37).

    My very quick go:

    Ederson
    Coleman Mustafi VVD
    Salah Shaq Sterling/Silva Zaha
    Auba Firmino Kun (c)

    3.9 3.9 Mariappa Milo

Maybe no Salah and Firmino due to Champions League semi. But the alternatives aren't very appealing.

    Arnie?
    Ramsey?
    Double Arsenal defence?
    Stoke defence?
    Kiko?

Been looking at my potential FH team for 35 - Currently looking at this lot

      GK - Butland (or Ederson)
      Def - Mustafi (or Baines)
      Def - Belerin
      Def - Van Dijk
      Mid - Shaqiri
Mid - Sterling (or Ramsey or Walcott)
      Mid - De Bruyne
      Mid - Salah
      Att - Aubamayang
      Att - Aguero
      Att - Deeney (or Tosun)

City and Pool assets hard to predict.... would welcome any feedback,

      I'm looking at:

      Heaton (Pope)
Baines, Robertson, Kiko (2 x cheap)
Salah (c), Sterling, Sane, D Silva (Milivojevic)
      Auba, Firmino, Tosun

Either that or downgrade a City Mid and Baines, do Tosun > Aguero, and play Milivojevic.

Salah captain feels a massive risk. I'm not even sure I'd pick him.

There are rotation risks for 5/6 of that team i.e. all the Pool and City players. Given FH is probably the best chip we have (apart from WC), it feels like a waste if loads get reduced minutes.

City could win the title vs. Swansea and have nothing else to play for, they will be full strength.

Liverpool players are a risk but I think that GW36 will be where the rotation is most likely (not many missed GW32).

Maybe you are right about the captaincy though. Aubameyang could be the way to go.

Liverpool's game is 4.30pm on Sunday and the CL semi could be on Tuesday night.

Nothing to play for in the league. I'd be astounded if there isn't massive rotation. Even if they start, they'll be hooked early.

                Cech /3.9*
                Mustafi/Baines/Van DIjk/TAA*/Robertson*
                Sane/Sterling/Zaha/Shaqiri/Salah
                Aubamayang/Aguero(c)/4.5*

I'm assuming at least 2 out of Salah/VVD/Robertson/TAA will play - all others look pretty nailed to me.

                  Good team.

Picking Robertson and VVD could work if you pick a decent bench. Beauty of FH though is freedom to have a bench of fodder.

I'm not convinced Kun is nailed, but I'd probably still pick him.

I think I'd captain Auba for safety.

                    Assumption is I'm paying 352 - Robertson sub 1, TAA sub 2....

I can't look past Aguero purely for potential to explode points wise, but agree there are so many city options that appeal that week. KDB does look tired. Will also look to see who gets rested in GW 34 for city.

Definitely got to get three City. It's just picking the ones that will play!

Ederson, Ota, Walker look the only 100% nailed ones. Maybe KDB but he looked knackered against Liverpool. Silva should be fresh after his absence.

Equally, Morph's strategy above of getting Sane, Sterling and Silva (and accepting a highly likelihood one will be benched) might work well.

Ah, you're right on fixture timings. Google let me down. Makes them more likely to start, but still feel they'll get subbed early.

Hi all, looking for some advice for the double gameweek, benchboost is active. 150 points off ML leader, but have BB, TC and FH. Team is:

    DDG & Ryan

    Alonso / Morgan / Dunk / Smalling / Lowton

Salah / Willian / Son / Mahrez / Izquierdo (gamble from last week)

    Kane (c) / Vardy / Barnes

    0.0 ITB. Thinking of:

    A. Alonso for Valencia or Vertonghen
    B. Alonso & Izquierdo for Pogba and Christensen
    C. Others? Ericksen or Lingard
    D. Leave

    Much appreciated

I would keep Alonso, he has potential to get really high scoring week's.
You set your team up well so not really any need to make changes.

Willian and Izquierdo to Pogba and Kennedy might work out.

    Morgan Monreal Lowton (Otamendi Ward)

I think Pogba and Sanchez were getting in each other's way for a while. Jose seems to have found a balance for them both to play together and both to excel. Really hoping he sticks with the 433 so Pogba can continue make runs forward. But no doubt he'll be held back in the pivot of the 4231 and Lingard will be #10 🙁

As others pointed out, I didn't account for Jose going back to a static, disjointed 4231. It's a real possibility.

Opinions should always be altered when challenged with good criticism - so mine was altered slightly when good points were made.

Lingard could be a decent option, due to the 4231 threat, but is still risky.

Picking Man United defenders is a nightmare, but what’s obvious is that they are better with Jones:

    With Jones:
    Played 20
    Clean Sheets 13
    65% clean sheets

    Without Jones:
    Played 12
    Clean Sheets 3
    25% clean sheets

Mourinho must be aware of this. So he’s either on the cusp of a return or the fallout was huge and he’s finished at United?

Absolutely. Still the best player in the league, been in my team all season, and won't be leaving it barring serious injury.

Obviously. Imagine not having the best attacker in the league.

        This.

I've learnt my lesson from previous season's of punting. There are some players you don't mess around with. Salah is one of those highly owned, explosive players that you just keep. Take risks elsewhere.

Keep him if you have him, don't get him in if you don't.

I don't think his freedom is being restricted - Mourinho basically just lets his attackers figure things out. What Alexis is now doing is playing the way he wants to.

Wenger had to constantly battle to stop him dropping deep to try to run the game. But Arsenal had Ozil, and United don't. So Alexis as playmaker is probably the best thing for the team right now. He'll score less goals but get more assists - likely not worth his price tag as a result.

It does mean good things for Pogba though, and probably Lukaku.

Is Lingard a good option for this week, or is it more likely he will only start one game?

For those without or not playing a FH in 35 is your tactic:

    A. Load up on doubles this week and take copious hits next week to get a side out
    B. Load up on doubles this week and play with only 6 or 7 next week
    C. Strike a balance between 8 or 9 doubles this week and 8 or 9 starters next week to get 10/11 out easily

Example. I want Eriksen this week, Sane next week. Do I play.

Sane, Sane – 2 fixtures, no hits
    Eriksen, Sane – 3 fixtures, minus 4

It’s that sort of example across the board really. How many are you prepared to do?

Option C for me. Am in a similar situation. Going with 10 DGW players + Salah, and take a hit to have 10 for GW35

C for me as well.. many sgw'ers that play in 35 could easily outscore dgw'ers.. ie Arnie, Salah, Auba, VVD.. so im avoiding hits... will only have 7 dgw'ers this week and field 10 (11 with a hit) in 35
