There may still be four matches left of this extended round of fixtures but we are already looking ahead with the launch of our Captain Poll for Gameweek 35.

In sharp contrast to Gameweek 34, the next set of matches features just 12 teams due to the FA Cup semi-finals.

Among those set to dominate early voting are players from newly crowned Premier League champions Manchester City, who entertain Swansea City at home.

In the reverse fixture, the Welsh side were beaten 4-0 and have been in a similarly obliging mood on their travels, with just one clean sheet in the last six away days.

In that earlier encounter between the two sides Raheem Sterling (8.7) was among the star performers with two assists, and current form suggests he will be popular with voters again.

The winger has three goals and two assists in his last six outings, firing 22 efforts on goal – only Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has produced more attempts (25) over that timeframe.

Claiming more than 49,000 new owners ahead of Saturday’s deadline so far, Sterling is the most popular acquisition in Fantasy Premier League’s market.

Kevin De Bruyne (10.3)’s convincing form at the Etihad Stadium should also attract plenty of interest, with no player creating more chances (61) or registering more assists (14) in home matches than the Belgian.

Fantasy managers will also need to monitor noises on Sergio Aguero’s (11.6) fitness as he recovers from injury. With 15 goals, the Argentine is their most potent threat on home turf.

Should his fellow forward fail to recover, votes are likely to shift towards Gabriel Jesus (10.0), who has delivered attacking returns in each of his last three starts. Already he is the most acquired forward this week, with more than 27,000 FPL managers making their move.

However, there is a caveat in investing and trusting in Pep Guardiola’s charges. With the league title now secure, the spectre of rotation could loom large from this point onwards.

Liverpool’s line-up could also be shuffled for their trip to West Brom which arrives just three days before the first leg of their Champions League semi-final against Roma.

Nevertheless, Mohamed Salah (10.5)’s form should ensure that he garners considerable support. The Golden Boot leader, with 30 goals, he has delivered double-digit scores in half of his last eight league outings, including that record-breaking 29-point return against Watford at Anfield in Gameweek 31.

Sadio Mane (9.5) and Roberto Firmino (9.4) complete Liverpool’s in-form attacking trio. That pair have both claimed four goals from their last seven matches, with Mane producing attacking returns in six of his last seven Gameweeks.

The Baggies will be buoyed by their shock 1-0 away victory over Manchester United. However, this was just the second time since Gameweek 20 that they have earned a clean sheet, surely suggesting that Jurgen Klopp’s side will offer us strong attacking returns.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (10.7) continues to be ineligible for Arsenal’s Europa League campaign and therefore surely a certain starter in Gameweek 35.

Having already proved a reliable armband pick since arriving in north London, it’s no surprise to see the Gabon international challenge at the top of our current poll – he’s returned points in six of eight league starts.

Aubameyang now enjoys an enticing home meeting with a West Ham defence that has shipped a league-high 14 goals over their last six away matches.

Crystal Palace midfield pair Wilfried Zaha (6.9) and Luka Milivojevic (5.1) are among alternative captaincy selections, due to their strong recent form.

Since returning from an injury lay off in Gameweek 30, Zaha has found the net three times and registered two assists.

Meanwhile, set-piece specialist Milivojevic has made a mockery of his modest price tag after amassing 38 points in Palace’s previous four. The Serb is the second most bought this week, attracting 31,000 new owners.

The Eagles pair collide with the league’s worst home defence, Watford, who have conceded 30 goals in front of their own fans.

Our poll is now live in the middle column on your homepage on desktop, or via the slide-in menu on mobile and tablet under recent comments.

Remember, we are looking for your vote for the player you think will be most effective, regardless of whether you own them or not.

We will be back to check in on progress in the poll later ahead of the Gameweek 35 deadline when we deliver our “Captain Sensible” article offering an analysis of the results and the statistics behind the leading contenders.

Just putting my FH team together, this game week potentially clinches my Mini League as everyone else used their FH weeks ago.

    Butland
    Long - Chambers - Femina
    Sterling - Sane - Salah(c) - Mane
    Jesus - Firmino - Auba

Should the talent be spread more evenly amongst the teams with games or wold you be happy with 6 of your attackers being from 2 teams??

How's this slightly different FH team looking?

    Pickford,
    Mustafi, Walker, Baines,
    Salah, Mane, Sterling, Gundogan,
    Firmino, Aub, Lacazatte

Bench = 3.9GK plus Bauer, RLD & K Long as emergency playing subs.

Lacazette plays Madrid 4 days later.

Also: if Kos is now fully fit, it might be time for Mustafi's pre-EL rest. I don't know if Kos is properly fit, but this week in particular Mustafi feels like a rotation risk to me. If I do go with an Arsenal defender this week, it will be Bellerin, who's just had a rest (and has little RB competition, let's be honest).

Actually quite a few who used the FH in 31 planned for the 31 blanks to go to GW34 and not to GW37 .... is not poor planning as such as many expected Swansea, Arsenal and City to have a double in 34 and a game in 35.

I've currently got Walker in mine. Can't see Swansea scoring, and offers an attacking threat. I may change to 3 attackers though, but in truth as long as you have 3 City players anywhere then you'll be fine.

Best defenders from Everton, Palace and Burnley for GW 35, without taking price into account?

    IMO:
    Baines (potentially on pens)
Lowton (creates a lot of chances)
PvA (creates a lot of chances and is a significant goal threat)

That's wrong. You used to get banned an extra game because the appeal process allowed the player the play the next game. Nowadays the appeal processes are quicker, and the ultimate decision is given before the first game of the initial suspension.

As an Alonso owner and Saints fan at the game Saturday, pretty darn annoyed right now.

The bigger discussion should be how on earth Mike Dean is a premier league referee. He’s great for the odd funny attention seeking act now and then but not seeing Alonsos challenge when 5 yards away with no obstructed view is a joke

Alonso to Otamendi for weeks 35- 38 ? Better double game week 37 fixtures than Alonso and probably nailed for rest of season

      He didn't start vs. Spurs

Not sure Otamendi is nailed, he’s got Kompany, Laporte and Stones. Walker might be a better option? If you don’t have a Spurs defender I think they look a good Alonso transfer too

How is Otamendi nailed for the rest of the season. Pep has four fit centre backs.

I feel for Southampton. If Alonso gets a red car in that game Chelsea would never have managed a comeback. Robbed of 3 points by the referee.

Southampton are doing enough to get themselves relegated anyway.

It happens all season to every team at some point. It's just that their facing relegation that makes it a bit crap.

Prob true but do you want to tie up a 3rd City pick in the goal?

Not Flappy who I'm stuck with!

Ederson, or Pickford if too expensive

How is this for a FH team? 0.8 itb.

    Pickford
    Mustafi, Robertson, Baines
Salah (c), Sterling, D. Silva, Zaha
    Aubameyang, Jesus, Firmino
    4.0, Mariappa, Long, King

Mustafi is so liable to make mistakes - doesn't matter who they play. Better options than him.

Jesus, Sterling, Salah, Mané in my FH team already and likely to stay.

Question is do I go City def (Kompany or Ota) or 2nd City mid (prob Sane)?

If I go 2nd mid, who would you get in defence?
    Rest of back line is:
    VVD, Baines, Tomkins, Long

    Cheers

I'd go Sane - though quite like the appeal of Kompany.
Probably a Newcastle defender they are playing well - Lascelles maybe.

What was Pep's track record of rotating Bayern's team after they'd won the league?

It's full of youth team rotation. Like, really. But: you've got to think he'll be playing a strong team this week - Kompany in particular you'd think has got to play. And then ... he might be interested in record totals etc, suggesting strong teams, but might also think he can get them with rotation anyway, so still a big risk there, I reckon, all things considered. But less so this week, imo.

Could see Jesus get a run in the side because of Aguero's injury.

    Hi guys,

What do you think of this GW35 squad, I have no FH so I'd have this team for a -12 with DGW37 in mind. Thanks!

    Fabianski
    Mustafi Walker Lowton Tark
    Salah Sané Sterling
    Barnes Auba

    DDG Morgan Lingard Gross Kane

Looks fine maybe move Gross for another 37 doubler who plays in 35? Kenedy/Ritchie maybe?

Yeah I am considering exactly these 2 players. But are they worth a -4? Also I am planning on playing 343 in 37 so they will probably be on the bench...

Ah in that case if benching 37 probably waste of a transfer - Newcastle do have WBA in 36 so I like them for that also.

    Thoughts on this FH team?
    Hoping that AnfieldExpress deliver

    Karius
    PvA - Lowton - Baines
    Zaha - Sterling - KdB - Salah (C)
    Firmino - Auba - Jesus

    Maenpaa, Mili, Long, Mariappa

Nah, Pep's a perfectionist. They'll be on their toes. If anything they will play relaxed and even better.

    For GW 35:

    A) Butland, Mane, Sane
    B) Karius, Zaha, KdB

I'd probably lean A - but would be waiting for Anfield Express
