The biggest Gameweek of the season kicks off on a barmy Friday night on the south coast as Brighton host second-placed Manchester United.

Fantasy managers will be focused on the away side, despite the absence of their most popular asset, striker Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgian misses out through injury as Jose Mourinho hands starting roles to Marcus Rashford and Antony Martial in his front three. Juan Mata also comes into a much-changed line-up as Alexis Sanchez is omitted from the squad.

Significantly, Paul Pogba is named on the teamsheet once again. United’s form player, the Frenchman has three goals and an assist from his last four starts and goes into tonight’s match as the fourth most signed play having been snapped up by 140,000+ managers ahead of the deadline.

Elsewhere for United, Chris Smalling could be a key figure against a Brighton defence that has proved vulnerable at set-plays. The Seagulls have conceded 20 goals, including 14 from corners – more than any other side. Smalling has three goals in his last seven starts and top scored in the previous Double Gameweek with 15 points.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Very early as I know the 1st game only started last night of the DGW but I didn't put the TC chip on Jesus so any thoughts on throwing it on Salah last game of the weekend?

Same here. I keep tallying up in my head all the points I should score before each week and then deal with the reality of getting much less after the games are played.

Example, Smalling, DDG and pogba I thought surely 15 points minimum and over 20 with some luck....reality = 7

Meanwhile my rival has no United and Gross

On most Saturdays I've been doing bad and getting disappointed, while Sundays have been saving the day, not lifting me high, just about average.
For once, I'd like a Saturday to bring me lots of points.

Pretty sure I haven't owned him once this season. Richarlison was my 6m player early on and I had zero luck in that bracket after I dropped him for Lingard (bad pick), Ox (stopped starting), Deulofeu (injured), Pritchard (for the blank), STAN (WC32 punt, injured).

This is why I think it should be a double captain chip rather than triple on one player.

All that planning throughout the season only to be undone with an injury to your triple captain. Would be just bad luck, but would hurt your rank big time

      1. the snazzy viking
        • 9 Years
        7 years, 7 months ago

what would be a nice addition to the game is that if you had a pool of five or so chips and you had to choose which one you wanted to use, eg. double captains on two players, triple captain, double defender points (like in the Norwegian game), etc.

so the ones that take the risky chip have a higher ceiling for a reward as such, albeit there being the risk ofc

        1. Rik Waller
          • 8 Years

Still think everyone will end up just agreeing on the best chip and following the same strategy as per the DGW chip strategies

Fook that I run my own race. Reading the comments on here last few weeks you'd it's against the rules to use the chips anytime except for the designated gameweeks.

Thing is you get a loud few that shepherd the majority of users (RMT spammers) into following. I think the vast majority didn't even consider using anything other than the gws 32/33 or 35/36 to wildcard with the chip coming after it

          2. the snazzy viking
            • 9 Years
            7 years, 7 months ago

            could see that happening yeah...

perhaps randomised chips could be the solution, but then others would complain about having worse chips than other players :/

I'd like it if we had 2 sets of chips, one for before and one for after xmas. Would force people to use TC and BB on single GWs in the first half of the season and lead to more variety in strategies

I'd rather cap Kane vs Leicester I think providing he improves his form. I know we always say this but I don't know that Salah plays 38 if top four is secure. Final is all that matters.

If the chips are here to stay, does anyone else think that removing the one chip per week limit would mix things up enormously. There would be and unlimited a mount of viable strategies instead of the day formatted stages of chip usage we've all just gone through. Would really mix things up

    1. the snazzy viking
      • 9 Years

seems a good concept initially but then that kills the chances of a normal player getting manager of the week, eg. players with multiple teams playing all chips in one week, every week.

At least it would add more variance to what we have now. Imagine how wrong it could go for you if it was a bad gameweek. More risk, more at stake. Wouldn't be a huge difference to what we have now, it would just give us more options to be different in the game

            1. the snazzy viking

I don't think so. Smalling is in a better defensive line but don't believe he's better than VVD individually.

With Keita and hopefully a new CB partner *fingers crossed* VVD will be even better.

Nope not even close, VVD is better by a mile. Also, I believe VVD isn't as good as people say too.

Im leading my ML by 22 pts
My rival has WC and BB.
    I have TC Sterling

My rival used his two fts and better his WC or BB this week. Surely he doesnt think he can use both nxt week does he? He's done me a huge favour tho. He captained Sterling too which has to be good for me??

Other rival TC'd Sanchez. So hope he gets some time nxt game?? His vc is Kane .

Cant get my head around first bit above.

According to FPL Discovery, top 10k players averaged 5.1 (-4.2), so you've gained 1.1 points on the average top 10k player.

Bit worried after seeing the high-rollers captaining Kane instead of Jesus. Surely Nmecha wont start, but come from the bench, at best?

Jesus is potentially a great captain pick, as is Kane.
No.point in worrying now, just enjoy the rollercoaster ride that is an FPL masèeve DGW.

If they have any sense their reason will be bad form vs good form not Nmecha.

I had it on Sterling then Jesus all week. Swapped to Lane in the last hours because of Pep's rotation comments and I think if any pens are awarded that Yaya will take them.
Seems logical but don't think the points difference will be that much anyway tbh.
