For the last time in 2017/18, we roll out our pre-Gameweek members’ article looking at the main armband contenders for Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers.

Kicking off with an assessment of our Captain Poll, we then check in with the player and team data and the Rate My Team rankings before considering a differential or two ahead of tomorrow’s 2 pm deadline.

The Captain Poll

Three players dominate our final Captain Poll of the 2017/18 season.

Golden Boot rivals Mohamed Salah and Harry Kane claim the top two spots, with the Liverpool winger well clear of the pack on 39% backing for a home encounter against Brighton.

Despite blanking in each of his last two appearances, Salah’s relentless record at Anfield looks set to trouble a defence with just two clean sheets in their last 16 matches.

The Egyptian has scored in seven of the last eight in front of his own supporters, tallying 12 goals and three assists in that rune.

Furthermore, he has delivered a lofty nine double-figure hauls at home – more than any player.

Roberto Firmino served up his season-high 13 points in a 5-1 win over the Seagulls back in Gameweek 15 and looks the best alternative for the Reds, with Sadio Mane a doubt.

After scoring in three of his last four, Kane earns over 23% of the votes as Spurs finish their temporary stint at Wembley with a visit from Leicester’s porous defence.

The Foxes have just two clean sheets in 13 attempts and have struggled to keep out the Spurs striker in previous matches – Kane has fired five goals in their last two meetings.

Meanwhile, midfield trio Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Son Heung-min have all found the net four times in their last seven league starts.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang grabs third spot (11%) as Arsenal visit Huddersfield in Arsene Wenger’s last match in charge.

The top scoring player in Double Gameweek 37 with a haul of 23 points, Aubameyang is the most bought forward ahead of Sunday’s 2pm deadline.

The Gunners’ striker has bagged a goal or an assist in eight of his last nine outings.

His hosts have struggled to keep out top six sides in front of their own fans, conceding 13 goals in five meetings so far.

That could also profit Alexandre Lacazette, who is expected to return to the teamsheet after being rested at Leicester in midweek. The Frenchman has five goals and an assist in his last five appearances.

With the majority of votes going the way of our top three candidates, there’s plenty of scope for differentials heading into the last round of fixtures.

Having rung the changes in midweek, Pep Guardiola is expected to name a strong Manchester City line-up for a trip to Southampton.

Both Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling have much to make up for after a disastrous Double Gameweek 37.

The Brazilian blanked against both Huddersfield and Brighton at the Etihad but has scored in each of his last three road trips.

Rested against the Seagulls in midweek, Sterling mustered just two points over City’s pair of fixtures. With three goals and seven assists in his last seven, though, he could profit against a defence with two clean sheets in 17 at St Mary’s.

Leroy Sane is ending the season in strong form – a midweek trio of assists earned him an eighth double-figure haul of the season. The German has scored in four of his last six away matches.

The top target in midfield for transfers in, Wilfried Zaha has served up 14 points in each of his last two home matches ahead of a visit from relegated West Brom.

And Marko Arnautovic could be the man to deliver for West Ham as David Moyes looks to get one over former club Everton.

The Austrian has three goals and a pair of assists in seven and will face a defence with a single clean sheet over their last eight away from Goodison Park.

SCOUT PICKS CHALLENGE - GAMEWEEK 38

The final gameweek! GW37 results will be out tomorrow prior to games being played (guaranteed). Hopefully GW38 results will also be tomorrow, if not definitely Monday!

    GW33 results: https://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/comment/18168794
    GW34 results: https://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/comment/18168849

    ****** WHAT IS IT? ******

For those of you who haven't been around or aren't aware, every evening prior to the start of the gameweek FFS releases their picks of players for the gameweek, "Scout Picks", as well as 3 differentials before the first games to separate yourself from the crowd.

This is your way to have a bit of fun and challenge those scout picks with a set of your own (read instructions below). This will always open the day before the gameweek starts around 8pm, and whilst you don't have to play weekly, the more you play the better chance you have of winning!

Gameweek winners will also be awarded a spot in the Community Roundup article.

    ****** INSTRUCTIONS ******

Everyone can have their own scout picks (there is no limit on team value) but with one simple rule,

YOU CAN ONLY PICK ONE PLAYER FROM EACH TEAM
(yes, two of your players at least will be on opposing teams).

You can only have ONE submission, and your FIRST submission will be what is accepted. You also must respond DIRECTLY to this post (not to a reply on this post). FFS Scout Picks are automatically enrolled. Teams must comply with FPL formation rules and be submitted in an easy to read format, e.g.

    GK
    DEF DEF DEF
    MID MID MID MID
    FOR FOR FOR

Deadline for this gameweek is Sunday 13th May, 2pm.

    ****** SCORING ******

Regardless of number of applicants, scoring will be done by the following:

    1st place: 3 points
Top 4% of the population will rank "second" and score 2 points.
Top 10% of the population will rank "third" and score 1 point.

There is also a bonus point which everyone is eligible for. If you score higher than FFS' Scout Picks AND Differential Picks (i.e. 14 players), you will be awarded with a bonus point regardless of whether you were in the top 10% scoring positions or not.

Welcome to the game, and good luck.

    ***** THE LEAGUE STANDINGS *****

    3rd - A Manager Has No Name, Camara, IanP1970 (22pts)

Martial - chasing 17pts, and lost faith in Kane - took me a while 🙂
      Also hoping that:
      - Jose will want to give United fans some joy on the last day and will set up team offensively.
      - Watford will be on the beach.
      - Likes of Rashford & Martial will play to prove something.
      - Gods of last GW randomness will be on my side for once.

This final GW will be a microcosm of the season. Salah will bang in a brace like he has done week in week out and will outscore Kane. He carries my favour into battle.

See you in the other side, Jonty.

Sterling. The most farcically over looked, even inexplicably sold, option this week.

Chasing, so no Salah. Plus I don't expect Pool to be full throttle once they go 2 up. Injuries way too risky against a rough Stoke team.

Even if Liverpool go 2 or 3 up without a Salah contribution, Klopps next priority to help Salah to golden boot/ break season scoring record would outweigh preserving him for CL final?

Salah// Liverpool need to ensure victory, need to go 2 goals up before they think of taking Salah off. Spurs have nothing to play for and the Kane golden boot talk is bad for the team

Going for Salah. He had a rest in midweek while spurs and Brighton played. Also UCL final is only in 13 days time. And Liverpool needs to secure at least 4th

Kane. Because last week I TC'd Jesus and it was really annoying. And last season I missed the captaincy on Kane's late surge so if it happens again this year I would be really annoyed. Don't own Salah, but I'm not really chasing, just think he might have run out of steam.

Still undecided. Kane has a great record against Leicester, 9 goals against them in PL, and it really bothers Leicester fans because he spent that time on loan with them and was awful. Poch has talked about wanting 3rd place but I am worried with players like Foyth and KWP starting that the performance could be a little disjointed. Poch may start Moura over Son if he wants to give him PL minutes, which would further add to the unfamiliarity in the team.

I'm worried about Brighton's defence, they got it completely wrong against Liverpool at the Amex. Not much pace in that back four. Liverpool need a point and have had a week off, unlike Brighton. Although could Salah be taken off early if the match is won?

Might go for Sterling if I feel like taking a punt, he had a midweek rest and plays fairly central.

Will decide at 13:58 and probably change my mind three times.

Interesting, Leicester got a few injuries though, a win moves them up one place perhaps?

Think Brighton playing midweek and Liverpool getting a rest could have an effect, fancy Liverpool to be sharp today even without the in form Mane

4points difference for the below teams. Who has the advantage?????

My team (thinking a hit for Eriksen + Smalling > Salah + van Aanholt):
    Fabianski
    Smalling - Naughton - Vertonghen
    Sterling - Eriksen - Gündogan - Arnautovic
Kane - Jordan Ayew - Jesus

Subs: Lingard - Chilwell - Cedric

Leaders team (4 points in front of me):
    De Gea
    Otamendi - Davies - Trippier
    Gundogan - Willian - Pogba - Salah
    Vardy - Kane - Rashford

Subs: Wilshere - Robertson - Martina

I have. Makes sense to get Salah and Zaha to cover other teams.
But Sane scored a load last week and Jesus blanked again.
I also think Erikson is due a haul.
