With the domestic programme now over and the World Cup just under a month away, it’s time to give you a heads-up on Soccerway Fantasy iTeam, our partner game for the tournament.

We’re delighted to be working with FiT once again, for another exciting summer of football, having previously enjoyed the game over the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Champions League.

A free Fantasy football app, FiT is available on a number of mobile devices, including iPhone, iPad, iPodTouch and Android. It’s free to download and play, so you can start drafting your starting XI with unlimited transfers now.

We’ll be supporting FiT throughout the summer and have an official Fantasy Football Scout League, with a £1000 of Amazon vouchers to give out, split between the top three performers. There’s also the small matter of £10k worth of prizes available in the main competitions: Overall World Championship and Manager of the Gameround.

FiT hands managers an initial budget of £75 million from which to select their starting XI. There are seven formations (4-4-2, 4-3-3, 4-5-1, 5-4-1, 5-3-2, 3-5-2 or 3-4-3). The scoring system will be famiilar, although there are several subtle differences from Fantasy Premier League.

If you’ve been itching to commit to a World Cup game and you’ve got a compatible device, then this is the chance to get going. Click here for the official website and download the app.

We’ve already set up an official Fantasy Football Scout league for you to join – the league name is Fantasy Football Scout and the pin is 1887.

We’ll be ramping up our coverage of the game and our league over the next week or so. We’ll start by giving the Fantasy iTeam rules a good grilling, before following up with a scan of their player list for potential bargains.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

It's always been slick and rock solid. Alan and the team are great to work with and we've always had a great reaction to the game previously. I'm very happy to support the game again and to play over the summer alongside the official game - when it finally gets it act together.

Thank you for the introduction Mark. We're super happy to be partnered with you guys again.

I'll try and answer as many questions as possible, but please contact us at feedback@fantasyiteam.com if I do miss anything.

There's still a few players to value, but most are there now. And with unlimited free transfers up until kick off, there's loads of time to tinker.

          Hi Alan,

Is the game only playable on an app?

Is it free to play? Or does paying a small charge give you added benefits?

          Thanks!

Hi. iOS and Android only - free to download and play.

First team is free but there is the option to create more which you would need additional credits that can be purchased or earned from within the app.

Looks like you can pay real money to buy extra transfers, which kind of ruins it for me tbh, sorry. That means the playing field isn't level is it.

Fantastic finally Fantasy I Team gets a mention. Been playing this game fair few years now. Good format of a game. Every season you can pick a Premier League, European Super League, Champions League team. When the Euros and World cup are on, can pick your team and play. Fantasy I team is first World cup game i know which is up and running already.
Highly recommend this game. You get free transfers, also have the opinion to buy extra one, but u dont have too. Join up and join the fun, one of the best games around in my opinion.

We always choose a game for season and for the summer tournament so us promoting a game is not really a new thing - I'm just happy to be working with a game that a lot of folk on the site know and have played before.

We've worked with them previously - surprised the game is new to you.

We have a more in-depth article coming on Monday looking at how it's played.

Just trying to find out if it is a gambling site and who are eligible for prizes, for example is it UK only.

I tried to read the small print but page would not open, not a good start
Prizes will be awarded subject to specific terms and conditions – to view these, visit http://fantasyiteam.com/termsofservice.html.

Hi Trigger. Prizes are limited to UK customers only.

Just like Dream Team and a few other fantasy games based in the UK, it's a rule we have to have in place.

We'll always allow non-UK users to download the app and play, as lots of our customers are happy playing for fun and competing against their friends/colleagues.

In order to really compete you need to buy that extra transfer each week. If I lived in the UK i would be happy enough to do that, but without the possibility of a prize it seems futile.
Would be happy to play for fun, if they gave an extra free transfer to overseas players which would level the playing field.

Completely agree. Buying transfers option with real money is lame. Means no level paying field, which is a big no from me. They've just made another app game where they entice you to spend to get credits, like boom beach etc. Not making any money out of me!

Played in a postal league in the 1990s was a lot of fun. Had to post in the transfer every week.
The person running it must have had to work really hard, each week he would send out the results and the league table, along with info on what transfers everyone had made the previous week. Rules were not that different to FPL

England should name Ashley Young in every starting line up and then have him 'get injured' in the warm up just before the match starts. The opposition will be so crushed and disappointed that he isn't starting, we might even get a draw with Panama this way...

    1. Piggs Boson
      • 14 Years
      7 years, 7 months ago

I thought Young was decent today, and has been all season. His issue is not having a left-foot. Shaw's attitude has been costly.

      1. Fantasy Gold
        • 11 Years
        7 years, 7 months ago

        Valencia was worse.

        He ruined every attack.

Alonso just shepherded him onto his left foot as he doesn’t have one, so Valencia just rolled it back to the halfway line pretty much every time.

        So tedious.

Both fullbacks need to be replaced because they are so integral to breaking down teams that sit deep.

  20. Piggs Boson

United just cannot break a bus down. Chelsea did the right thing in parking. Fair play Conte.

This United team got an impressive pts total, and were scoring goals for fun at the start of the season, but the squad still needs a bit of work. Not having proper full-backs is hurting, they are such an integral part in modern teams...

Do you think football has simply evolved beyond Mourinho? Football has changed, he hasn't. I think he knows it too, that's why he's being such a sourpuss

      1. Piggs Boson
        • 14 Years
        7 years, 7 months ago

I don't think anyone was saying that at the start of the season after the 3-0/4-0 scorelines off the back of the Europa League and League Cup.

I've read books about Jose and watched him give a lecture, and his style can never be outdated. He plans every transition and phase of play meticulously. It's still 22 men and a football.

        1. SW6
          • 13 Years
          7 years, 7 months ago

A good point. Maybe it's him that's changed then, or the context. When Lampard Terry Drogba or whoever talk about him they say he was the best manager and like a father/friend. None of the Utd players seem to like him at all. Was man management not a key part of his success as well as the tactical stuff?

          1. Piggs Boson
            • 14 Years
            7 years, 7 months ago

Moyes and LvG struggled too, and they are not bad managers. There's something rotten in the dressing room, and I firmly believe Jose is rooting it out. It takes time to assemble a dressing room of champions.

Not enough leaders perhaps? Too many players that shirk responsibility? But is that not exactly why he brought in Matic, Sanchez, Lukaku... It's an interesting conundrum. Although as you say, with Pep at City it might always seem like he's failing.

        2. Piggs Boson
          • 14 Years
          7 years, 7 months ago

I have to say Pep is on another level though. He simplifies his complex planning to his players and enables quick passing without too much thinking. It becomes second nature to his players because they always know their teammate will be in a certain position at a certain time. It becomes effortless.

After all the money LVG and Mourinho have spent, the squad still needs more work. Either United are full of excuses, or they're terrible in the market. I think it's the latter.

Watching this Motson programme. Preferred Barry Davies on the commentary, but both were great commentators. Especially liked Motson and Brooking combo.

Don't have the same chemistry in teams now. Danny Mills is getting games with Guy Mowbray, but damn Mills is miserable. Best combo at the minute may be Bill Leslie and Andy Hinchcliffe on Sky. Can't stand Tyler and Neville is also miserable.

Just watched Ex Machina... There's a film that's gonna keep me up thinking about it. Maybe one of my favourite sci-fi films I've seen after a first watch I'd say

Annihilation on Netflix is this director's next film

Ex Machina is great, but I've heard Annihilation is woeful...from a friend who is obsessed with Ex Machina.

Is there anyway / anywhere to view historic fantasy football data? Leagues, Prices etc from previous seasons?? Would love to look over some of the old info!!

I've watched world cups for decades...literally...but I have never known one which has such an air of indifference about as this next one. Barely registering any enthusiasm whatsoever amongst the general public as far as I can see...

Is anybody else feeling the same way about it?

The next 2 are tainted with corruption

      More so than usual!

From a purely selfish point of view I don't care about the corruption side of things as long as it doesn't interfere with the football on the pitch.

hasn't it already? Fixing draws, very questionable officiating etc

Sorry, I can't help but be excited for it. Yes England's team is probably the worst it's been in forever but I still can't wait. I don't think it'll be wise than some recent ones, SA for example.

I am really gutted that we won't have one in England while I'm still young though.. 🙁

I'm sure most ardent footy fans are looking forward to it, but even amongst them the enthusiasm for it is greatly diminished compared to past tournament. In general though I'm talking about the wider public.

I remember Mexico '70, Italia '90, France, Argentina...blah blah blah...when it was the major topic of conversation for weeks on end beforehand...this one is barely registering a blip...

The problem is both the FA and Southgate. He was the FA's pick and is a yes man but as a neutral it's not hard to see that he's too much of a nice guy and doesn't have the aura and drive needed to win.

I think there's reason to be optimistic. The golden generation were such a dissapointment - maybe that means now we've got a terrible side we'll by far exceed expectations.

I don't think it's even that Poseidon....I genuinely just think that a tournament in Russia leaves people cold on the whole thing. I'm not even gonna try and analyse why but I think it's a major reason.

Yeah I agree. Going to be much the same next time round too. Sad that we won't get another world cup to be excited about ( at least in my case) for another 8 years.

Why did so many people camp outside since Thursday to get a few seconds glimpse of the newly weds? It's not the fairytale that many think. She's a multi millionaire who went on 'blind date' with a Price and yet they play the first mixed race person in the royal family card. Does anyone else not buy it?

the majority of the nation don't buy it. Its just the minority like to shout the loudest that they're opinion/lifestyle trumps everyone else's to make them feel better about themselves.

Buy it? We did buy it. 35 Fekin millions worth and for what. We bound to have some royal family supporters on here so I'll not rant about how much i despise them but we should not have to fund their la di da lifestyles
