World Cup Fantasy managers will have to respond quickly to the emerging trends in Russia, as they prepare their transfers ahead of the Gameround 2 deadline on Tuesday.

We’ve taken our first look at the Opta World Cup data, which is exclusively available to members after the completion of each match.

Our analysis covers all fixtures contested in Groups A-F, with a scrutiny of Group G and H to follow before the second set of group matches commence.

Not surprisingly, Cristiano Ronaldo (£12.0m) has been at the heart of the transfer market in recent days following his 16-point haul in Portugal’s opening fixture: since Friday night, his ownership has doubled.

Elsewhere, there appears to be a strong case to load up on Uruguay players ahead of their match with Saudi Arabia, while the underlying statistics should provide some consolation to owners of Lionel Messi and Neymar following the £12.0m-rated forwards’ opening-match blanks.

Best midfield to transfer in for 6.5m or less? Thinking Golovin as it gives me a captain punt tomorrow. Have got a good captain choice all other days. Or possibly Layun and have 1m ITB for the next round?

I have 5m to spend on a mid, is Gazinsky my best option? Not much in that price bracket really.

Is there really a risk of Kane not starting against Belgium if we beat Panama? I can't see it myself.

Hmm, good point, though second place might get you Colombia in the R16 instead of Poland (with a decimated defence), Senegal or even Japan!

Oh yeah we're team-mates - I was going to give you my link but then I realised there's no team ID or anything to identify you in the URL. Also I don't see a way to search a team by name... In any case, my team is called Odysseus' 11.

Got 55 points so far and have James and Mojica coming tomorrow. How about you?

49 (after subs) with exactly the same players left.

I couldn't see that team name in the Frog league. I'll have another look.

I'm fairly sure we've lost the first round, they've got someone on 79 points, but I'm hopeful for the next round.

Yeah Frog has got my name correct as far as I can see. And maybe we still have an outside chance in the first round - as far as I remember out other team-mate accidentally played bench boost so maybe he did better than us!

Jia has got 57 all out. Can't see your team, and there are only two people on 55 points in the league. Not an issue. Onwards and upwards for R2.

lol I think I you already asked this before, or someone else asked with the same exact three players. my answer was that if were you I would, because I like going full send and this game hates me anyway so it doesn't matter. it's hard to get less than a two. but idk if they're gonna play

3rd/4th play off seems to be quite high scoring historically whereas the last few finals have been low scoring (1-0). Worth focussing on this game for final round attacking players (and max captain chip).

    3-0 - 2014
    3-2 - 2010
    3-1 - 2006
    3-2 - 2002
    2-1 - 1998

Round 3, 16 games. Some teams looking to clock up the goals to put them through to round of 16.Others looking to keep defences tight for same reason.

Last round, 2 games. Playing to win a game, usually tight games in final. 3rd and 4th place playoff usually freeflowing a good few goals.

I think there's a better chance of getting a highest scoring captain in Round 3. Could be a scoring defender keeping a cleansheet.

      1. tutankamun
        • 16 Years
        7 years, 6 months ago

Possibly, but we get up to 7 chances to change captain in that round so should still manage to get a decent score manually.

The downside of the 3rd/4th play off game is predicting the starting line ups.

Should know the 3/4 plac lineups in time for the deadline. 5 FT and same countries as previous round. If there's a form striker going for golden boot in that game it'd make the choice easier but I won't hold the MC until then.

    Lloris, Uzoho
    Kimmich, Meunier, Danilo, Varela, Sabaly

    WC done and dusted.

    Elshenawy - Uzoho
    Pique - Godin - Varela - Salcedo - Akanji
    Eriksen - Isco - Sigurdsson - Cueva - Layun
    Kane - Cavani - Salah

Kane + Siggy ➡ Lewa + Mueller in GW 3. Took a few punts. No other way to climb big imo. Thoughts?

    1. Pierce34
      • 10 Years
      7 years, 6 months ago

I think at this stage you can easily climb big just by playing the game the right way (i.e. manual subs, changing captains etc.). A lot of the teams above you will have been lucky* by just picking 11 players and a captain beforehand without any changes.

      * Not lucky in the sense that they picked good players, but lucky in the sense that e.g. their captain has hauled even though they only got 1 shot at it and their first XI mostly hauled.

Involved in attacks. From what I saw, he shots never looked like going in, but he had enough against Germany and got in good enough positions to convince many that he'll do well in upcoming games, at least compared to any other option under 6.5, or maybe even 8.5! Ljajic, Ndiaye, Eriksen, Cueva, Coutinho
    Lukaku ©, Jesus, Cavani

I want to save my wildcard for next week, so I’m considering a -8 and using the automatic captain chip.
I’m looking at one of two options
    A) Jesus, Mendy, and Ljajic out for Ronaldo, Varela, and Gazinsky
