We are down to just four teams left at the World Cup, with set-pieces and penalties still expected to have a big impact on the outcome of the remaining matches.

Once again, we’ve pulled together all the relevant data so Fantasy Football Scout members can work out which nations are the best to invest in for the semi-finals and final.

It still looks like England are the most likely to score from set-piece situations in the last-four, while France could get some joy against Belgium.

READ NEXT: Our transfer tips and stats for the World Cup Fantasy semi-finals

Our research includes the penalty and corner-takers for each country, based on who has taken them either in Russia or, in some cases, in qualification. If there is no number next to a player’s name it’s because they took at least one in qualifying and/or warm-up games but are yet to take one at the World Cup itself.

We’ve also calculated which teams concede the most fouls and attempts from set-plays too to help you work out which nations are the most likely to get set-pieces in the first place.

To clarify, the ‘Attempts from set plays’ section combines those who have shot from direct free-kicks or those who have latched onto the end of a corner.

The deadline for Gameround 6 is at 19:00 BST on Tuesday July 10, so make sure you sort your team in time.

World Cup Data

We’re delighted to offer World Cup data as an early addition to our regular season offering to help those playing Fantasy games over the summer.

We’ve secured Opta data, not only for the tournament itself, but also from the Qualifying Rounds for Europe and South America and for international friendlies involving the participating nations. This includes all the matches played right up to the tournament kick-off.

Just to stress, this World Cup offering comes packaged with the regular Fantasy Football Scout membership.

If the transfer window closes so close to the start of the new premier league season then how will the fpl admins add in the newly signed players quick before the games start?

Think the transfer window closes on the Thursday, and the PL kicks off on Friday evening.
I assume they will update the game overnight (Thursday).

Looks like around 4-6 changes likely this year (rough approximation). And I'm hoping to avoid them all by looking at the lineup and selling non-starting players.

I don't expect to own all the 4-6 rotated players anyway. If Croatia and France are eliminated, for example, I will only have 5 players open to playoff rotation. Since 4-6 is 18-27% of the starting 22 players, I should expect around 0.9-1.35 of my players to be benched for the playoffs 😀 I think I can handle that along with any injuries and suspensions, and hopefully with a transfer in hand to get to 15 players instead of the 14 I have now (perhaps even a spare transfer to actually improve the team!).

Worse case scenario for me would be England and Belgium in the playoffs (9 players). In this instance I could expect around 1.6-2.43 players to be rotated. 5 FTs should again be enough to cover this and suspecsions, even if I don't get my spare transfer (hopefully will though!).

Even using your worst case (9 players rotated) and my worst case (9 players in playoff), you would expect only 3.7 of your players to actually be rotated! 🙂 Just a guideline, but I think it shows how Siva's post is good news for final round chip-players.

great piece of analysis. Who would you think would get rotated? Some thoughts...

France (Full backs swapped? Fekir in / Dembele back)
Belgium(Kompany out for Boyata, Whole Midfield changed bar KDB/ Run out for Batshuayi)
England (Trent/Vardy in? Welbeck to make appearance!?)

If they would just get one good CD, such as Maguire to partner VVD, they'd be amazing. Alas the gossip is they're going for Lovren's Croatian partner (okay, a third of the price of maguire, but ... nah).

GK, CB, Coutinho replacement and a back up wide player still needed.

God awful is a strange analysis. Milner top assister in Champions League, Can snapped up by Juve, AOC on top form before injury, No point even mentioning Henderson coz people have made mind up and refuse to see the quality

      1. Davido989
        • 15 Years

I don't get the Henderson + Milner love in. They are decent-to-good players for sure, but are they good enough to win the league as a starting mids? That's the level Liverpool need to be at and that's why Klopp has effectively demoted Henderson + Milner to squad players with Fabinho and Keita coming in. Which isn't a bad thing by the way - you need good squad players and Henderson + Milner are exactly that.

Milner will be demoted due to age i think but Fabinho is not a replacement for Henderson. He just doesn't have the legs and fitness record to play 60 games. I expect them to rotate based on type of game. Henderson will need rest after WC also

Don't need to replace Coutinho - Klopp sorted that out long before Cout left. As well as the Ox, there's a fit Lallana hanging around. No, behind the front 3 there's plenty of midfield quality there. It's just a couple of positions at the back that are inadequate (GK and CD)

            1. Davido989

Have to replace Coutinho - it's why he was/is after Fekir. Ox is very good, but he's injured and Lallana has next to no productivity.

It is amusing people saying Lovren is a bargain because he is only 5 M

Will play as a box to box midfielder in a 4-3-3. Similar to Wijnaldum/Milner last year but he’ll drive forward aswell similar to the Ox. Would expect around 5-10 goals aswell as some assists if he replicates Liebzig form.

I can't see it personally. It'll be the same old story, look great on the big games and then bottle it in the lesser fixtures. It's in the genes of both Klopp and Liverpool.

    #002

    de Gea
    Coleman | Cedric | Robertson | Mendy
    Salah | D.Silva | Richarlison
    Aguero | Firmino | Jimenez

    4m | Cairney | Wan-Bissaka | Stephens

    .5 ITB

    The thinking behind it:
    - de Gea is a pick once and forget type of player. I've regretted not starting with him in previous seasons (mainly because of his ownership) so won't be making the same mistake this time round. He outscored all of United's outfield players last season too.
    - Coleman, Robbo and Mendy as premium defenders - I feel they'll effectively be playing like midfielders with CS potential. Similar approach helped me last season too with B.Davies, Alonso etc.
    - Salah and Silva are fairly nailed for 2 best attacking teams in the league. I think Silva is the standout City choice at the moment.
    - Richarlison is a punt given Watford's good fixtures and his streaky style - it may just click for him.
    - Aguero probably starts the season at the moment, but hapypy to switch to Jesus otherwise. Firmino is the best value for money attacker from the big sides IMO.
    - Jimenez is another punt but I'm looking to spend as little as possible for the third striker slot.
    - Rotate captains between Aguero and Salah.
    - Can switch 4 at the back to 3 at the back and bring in Cairney.

    Thoughts? 🙂

Could do, but I reckon there's more upside to his picks.

DDG makes more saves than Ederson
Mendy is more attacking than Bailly.

Although, it is dependant on whether or not Mendy is a definite starter.

I don't see what I could do with the 1m to be honest. And I'm not keen on paying 5.5m for a CB who misses games and has no goal threat. Cheers anyway 🙂

you could think of it like that, or you could think of it like this:

pay .5 more for a keeper who returned only 14 more points, pay .5 more for a defender who is still at the WC and likely to miss the start of the season.

I have the exact same premium defenders, although strongly consisting Coleman > Pereira if Coleman isn't a wingback in a 3-4-3.

I think Silva will be less nailed than last year. Not much proof to go on, aside the thought that Pep will play B. Silva more and his comments on D. Silva getting older.

Like Richarlison, but Gracia may be too defensive.

Jiminez is really not going to perform more than many 5.5 mids and defs. He just isn't much of a finisher, and was bought more for his workrate than anything else.

Love it. I'm really coming around to the premium defenders line of thinking.
I have Robbo but Id like to shoehorn Mendy in also.
Took a punt on Douglas (Wol) for 5m but it looks silly when you have Mendy at just 1M more.
Much more potential. Think I can easily trim the fat off my bench but this looks a good team BF

i need some around 5.5 or 6 who just starts regularly so i can rotate him with a 5.0 midfielder (Cairney) .

        who to go for ?

Then wilson is prob the best option.
For starts but doesn't do much there's the promotees - Reid at Cardiff, Kamara if he starts at Fulham and 2 at Wolves.

Looking forward for FPL's valuation of Mitrovic IF he ends up at Fulham. Can see him outscoring Zaha/Arnie and Tosun and will likely be cheaper

Only if you get points for how many km a player runs during a match.

Not sure if he has had any shots, but as likely to go out for a throw as rip out the back of the net.

What do you think about my team for the semis:

    Courtois, Subasic
    Vertonghen, Trippier, Kompany, Lovren, Meunier
    Pogba, Modric, KDB, Lingard, -
    Rebic, Mbappe, Lukaku

Dinho pops up as a no.10 half the time in the most attacking team in the league.

5.5 for 120 points and he is about as nailed as a midfielder gets for City.

Cairney deffo an option for .5m less mind

What did you think of Sweden's WC run? Our best result in ages! Some of the hype by the media (SVT and others) was a bit much, but hopefully it does some good for Swedish football.

We did very well just a bit bitter about our performance against England. But tbh we did well enough just to get to te WC let alone winning a group with Germany and 2 WC veterans like South Korea and Mexico.

Those weeks look like a great time for a tripple up with offensive forces like Arnie, Lanzini and Cresswell though.

I thought you had a great campaign up until that last game. You never really got going against England until too late. Another point I noticed after comparing the England v Colombia game with England v Sweden - you played hard but fair - no playacting, no cheating, no nasty tackles. All in all a credit to the nation and you should be very proud.

On West Ham - Pellers seems to be doing great work in the transfer market - not something usually associated with the Hammers! I reckon Hammers will kick off with a very well-balanced squad. The opening fixtures are a bit tricky but from GW10 on we'll know if they can be taken seriously or not and should be heavily invested in.

    Hello all 🙂

So much mixed coding at the moment between WCF and FPL on here!!

Anyway, hope all are doing well.

FPL wise, I'm very interested to see how this early season will play out - looking like an early GW4 WC for me once the key men are back from their post-tournament might be the way forward, which means setting my team for the first 4 weeks is best.

Currently going for a big at the back strategy:
    DDG / chaff
    Azpi Robbo Laporte Tomkins S.Cook
    Salah Eriksen Gross Deulofeu Walcott
    Wilson Kun 4.5

Is my current set up - could do Tosun and then downgrade Azpi to a 4.5 if I didn't like Wilson, but happy to leave off on the tinkering for now.

How are you current thoughts right now? WGTA will be back next week 🙂

As I will say many, many times this preseason - if the Man Utd defence is a lottery, DDG is the winning ticket.
Gross is a total hero in terms of Talisman Theory, and I wonder if he isn't being overlooked at bit by many now - Jota/Sess at 6.5 worry me as they're unproven!

Yeah, I will play around with it. Try and shave 0.5m some where if Mitro comes in at 6.5m.

The WC has really put a spanner in the works regarding team building.

As long as you don’t get completely blind sighted by the short term approach while waiting for players to return I see no reason why this approach shouldn’t relatively successful.
