Everton’s midfield and forward options could be worth including in our Fantasy Premier League squads this season.

New manager Marco Silva is expected to overhaul the style used by predecessor Sam Allardyce in 2018/19 and remove the shackles from their most dangerous players.

Two midfield options and one striker in particular, that were restricted last term, boast some underlying numbers which suggest they could impress in Everton’s appealing set of early fixtures.

Fantasy Football Scout members can view that data in the Members’ Area and also read our full analysis of it below to help them pick the best possible FPL team this season.

Yes, England reached an SF but the way that journey unfolded matters. Panama qualified on the basis of a "goal" that was so short of the goal-line it was a farce. They are one of the worst teams I've ever seen make a World Cup. Tunisia's best-attacking player got hurt and never played in WC. Tunisia was a limited team but without Mskani they became downright anemic. Colombia lost Jrod. He was there one truly world-class player. He creates space for everyone else on that team without him Colombia are again limited. Yet they still came damn close to sending England home. Sweden is ok but again lack anyone that you truly fear. So what did England truly achieve? Beat limited teams they should have? Yes, some players had good WCs: Trippier, Maguire & Pickford can all look forward to getting big transfers. Kane? Well, he scored 6 goals but where any of them truly world class finishes that stood out? Outside of those 4, everyone else was ok but not blowing doors off. Alli was poor, Sterling worked hard but without City stars around him goals sure dried out, Rashford meh albeit in small windows, Hendo is ok but he isn't going to take over a game, Dier was dire, Stones hot/cold so no change there, Walker solid, solid then WTF! Young meh. Linde runs around a lot but outside of Panama game goal what did all that running accomplish? Until England unearths a Kante, a Modric, a Hazard, a Pogba, a Couthino they will be reliant on set pieces and little else. The lack of creativity and natural ball winning midfielders is almost chronic.

He didn't slam anything. Was just giving his opinion and made some good points. You're free to disagree with his points if you have some actual arguments.

And it wasn't a great overall result, it was decent though. Let's be real, they weren't the 4th best team in the tournament. They got this far because of an easy draw. And they could've gone out against Colombia. Not only did they miss James, England's only goal was a penalty due to one individual Carlos Sanchez doing clumsy fouls throughout the game.

Who do you reckon was England's best player during the WC?

For me it was Trippier i thought he may have been the best fullback at the games with a notable mention for Pavard.

His final ball was a bit lacking but his set pieces were decent.

Agreed. Trippier had a fantastic World Cup - unexpectedly too. He's always looked good but at times he looked world class.
Mentioned in despatches: Pickford, Sones, Maguire.

It's interesting to note that above are defenders. We lacked a locksmith - someone to unpick defences. I was very disappointed in Kane and Alli. Sterling and Lingard showed promise without a great deal of end product.

Kane's WC campaign is over and has a month's time to recover, no?

        Mendy hasn't even played much.

About the keeper situation, yes. Do you have a good 4.5m/4m keeper pair that you can suggest? Or should I go for a fire-and-forget option like Pickford?

Kane still has a WC game on Saturday. Then well deserved holidays for two or three weeks I guess, which means he will only train with the group for a week or so before the league starts. Dont think he will start the first game, maybe even the second

Chelsea are supposed to be interested in Higuain.

Well seen as most footballers have had a month + off from training and playing and Mendy hasn't I would suggest some rest and recupertaion may be of benefit in situations such as these. You suggested Kane would miss one game as if that meant Mendy would not miss any games, so I pointed out that Kane is a lot more important to Tottenham than Mendy is to City so yes it may be likely that Kane only misses one match, I didnt say because Kane might only miss one match that he would be fully recovered in time to do so.

It ties you when it comes to making a transfer. If one of your other players gets injured you would be stuck with them until you reduced the number of City players.

True. I’ve done it myself in the past but it can give you a headache when you need to make a transfer. Your hands are tied a little. Go for it if you think it will pay off. Personally I’d go with 2 or 3 of each.

Personally I think that now England are no longer going to win the world cup, they can simply just call an end to the tournament or not bother televising it

No one really cares that much anymore...;0)

Backing France to destroy those Croatians, sick of seeing that Dobby captain

Im pretty disappointed in Southgates tactical awareness and substitutions. He is clearly a good man manager and got the best out of his players. But theres a clear lack of tactical understanding and awareness of when decisions need to be made.

Having a plan A and not changing anything is poor management. England had no plan B, no formation change, no personnel change etc.

England were getting battered and there was zero intervention. Of course after we concede the panic substitutions happen.

People focus on players like Sterling, but the game as actually lost in midfield. Alli and Lingard needed replacing to regain control of the game. RLC and Delph could have offered a lot of new energy and control.

Its a bitter pill to swallow and im happy we got to the semi-finals. But there was so much opportunity here to get to the final and we choked.

100% agree with the lacking midfield points, blatantly obvious that we played 5 attackers and 5 defenders, ultimately hoofing the ball between them!

Sterling is always the fall guy despite him being one of England’s better players and their only outlet.

Alli and Lingard where non existent in midfield. One of them needed hooked and RLC needed brought on

Completely agree. Sterling was actually stretching their defense so much - just a shame he isnt more clinical.

Lol at playing Alli and Lingard both 120minutes

Because he's so unskilled! Rashford is better in every department and he's quicker!!!!!!!! I just don't get the benefits of playing Sterling.

I feel differently about him after this WC.

Before i have berated Gareth for tactical ineptness and gave him little chance due to his lack of experience but i have to eat humble pie now as he really surprised me and i thought he done the best he could with what he had.

One of these days possibly after they win the World Cup you might realize just what a good team England came up against and give them some credit.

Personally i thought England were decent going forward and it was when the team had to do a bit of defending that the cracks began to show.Walker is not a center back and it was showed up badly along with Stones lack of defensive instinct.Hendo does not offer much also tbf.

Don't go out and lynch Southgate just yet because he might come in handy again in four years time.

I dunno. I felt that in the first half his tactics were working fine. Pre-kick-off I was concerned that Hendo would have no support to silence Modric, but what happened was England zipped the ball around nicely and closed Croatia down so quick that Modric got no space. England dominated that half but fatally squandered their chances.

But then they came out for the second half and stopped playing. They dropped deep, and the defence collectively seemed knackered, making tons of mistakes and allowed Croatia to control the midfield, which of course meant playing to their strengths. The prior neat passing triangles were abandoned in favour of the old English habit of hoofing it to the front man which just constantly conceded possession.

I don't know if the tactical switch was due to Southgate trying to cling on to a 1-0 lead or whether somehow the whole team got knackered at the same time.

So maybe Southgate was tactically naive in the end but I think it more likely that his sports scientist team hadn't anticipated England getting this far and hadn't prepared the first XI to be fit enough for that final hurdle. Either way, lessons will be learnt and England will go again, a little bit older and a little bit wiser.

Front 7 looks good, but back three are all prone to rotation. Two premium nailed starters and a 4.5m rotating pair would be better IMO
