Introduction to the article type

With so many RMTs on site, we’re going to start collecting them in these RMT Community Articles.

To start, site regular and moderator Gregor has given us his team, and some explanations of his choices. Feel free to comment on his team.

This is also a place for you to post your team, and please respond to a few others while you’re at it!

Mods have been alerted, and will spend some time on these pages responding.

Let’s try to keep the main article pages free from RMTs!

Gregor’s RMT

Gunn/McCarthy, Fabianski
VVD, Bailly, Mendy, Cook, Wan-Bissaka
Salah, Silva, Mahrez, Mkhitaryan, Ward
Firmino, Zaha, Mitrovic.

Goalkeepers
Two great value looking goalkeepers for £9m with perfect home and away rotation and good home fixtures to start the season. If there’s doubt over the Southampton number one though I may get Foster and bring Cedric in as my £4.5m defender.

Defenders
I’ve gone with van Dijk over Robertson due to slight concern around Robertson missing the odd game around Champions League ties, if Liverpool get a tough group.

Bailly seems assured to start the season and no reason to think he won’t then keep his place. £5.5m to cover United’s defence looks too good to miss.

Mendy looks underpriced due to previous injury problems, cheaper than Walker and should be good for assists.

What I like about Cook is that he’s very bench-able as you don’t expect much from a Bournemouth defender, but he has the potential to produce when called upon and also offers perfect home and away rotation with Wan-Bissaka, who looks a no brainer for bench fodder at £4m – nice fixtures too.

Midfielders
Salah, the obvious GW1 captain, and I (hope) expect Liverpool to make a strong start before the fixtures stiffen.

Mahrez is nice and rested and Silva looks a great price for a guy seemingly nailed on before the family problems, and City’s fixtures from GW’s 2-7 make a City triple up seem entirely sensible.

Mkhitaryan could be an absolute steal at £7m. Tough opening fixtures but just can’t ignore a player of this quality at that price though.

Cardiff’s Danny Ward as £4.5m bench fodder, subject to change; he has a goal threat which is unusual at this price point, and easy to bench as you would expect Cardiff to struggle.

Forwards
Bobby Firmino up top to further tap into the Liverpool attack, with strong early fixtures and a nice price. I’d be surprised if he’s not fit to start GW1.

Zaha, the Palace talisman with pre-season form and strong early fixtures. I do worry he might move though so also got my eye on Tosun for this slot.

Mitrovic just edges out Austin for my third striker slot for now due to surety of starts, funded by trading Sane for Mahrez. Have always liked Mitrovic and should continue to thrive at Fulham now he’s the main man.

Conclusion

Thoughts? Suggestions? Where have I gone wrong, and where have I gone right? What do you suggest I change?

Remember, post your RMTs below in this article. There will be another new RMT Community Article tomorrow.

Hi! Am I on to something here? 😉
    3-5-2:
    Patricio
    Robbo, Luiz, Bailly
Salah (c), Sanchez, Keita, Richarlison, Jota
    Aguero, Zaha

    Bench: Speroni, WB, Bernadek, Quaner

(Aguero to Auba in gw3. Sanchez switches to KDB, Hazard or Eriksen if not delivering/Lukaku steals the show...)

What is my weak points, except keeper-risk? not sure about Luiz/Bailly as they don’t have much assist/goals in them...

Wouldn’t go Luiz and Bailey a bit risky for their price would maybe invest in Coleman or Maguire

I wouldn't entirely agree with that. Think Keita will play as the more attacking of the midfield 3 apart from when Lallana plays in the center. Has linked up well in pre season and picked up a couple of assists

Agree. He’s been looking great in pre-season. But rumors has it that Shaqiri is on fire on training sessions now...so if he starts he might be a good option at same pp. Keita less rotation risk anyways...

    RMT

    Ederson, (Hamer)
    Bailly, D.Luiz, Bednarek (Doherty, W-B)

    Kane, Lacazette, Mitrovic

kane never has good starts and the WC wont help with that. neves is very defensive and wont be getting many points. i think tomkins is a stonger option than doherty and lacazette is a gamble if he will always start

      1. Thinkering like a Boss

Kane is trying to prove something here and I think goals will come too.

Neves now have free kick duty and form what I watched, he like to long shot and might come goals too.

Well, I opt for W-B instead of Tomkins. Doherty far better because of his position Right Wing.

Lacazette on form this pre season, I might gamble him.

Bednarek is a no go imo, too much competition for places in Southamptons centre of defence.

Bednarek just 4.0 options I gamble,, if he not plays Doherty and W-B come in.

Lovren might not be there GW1. Kenedy has some nasty fixtures, I've gone for Hughes at that price point. Looks good apart from those two imo.

Kenedy is just a differential pick Lovren i will swap don't think TAA will be ready otherwise I would of had him instead might pick Keane fixture look god's just the pre season form doesn't bode well going into it for them

Not necessarily as many premium players as what I'd normally go for, but balanced, good bench and hits all the key players / teams.

          Very sensible too!

The problem is if you try and get another, you'd have to start dismantling the team.

Watch out for TAA btw, I don't know if he's back from WC yet. Someone else would have to confirm that 🙂

Just made some wholesale changes to my lineup as I fancied a freshen up. Currently on this lot. What do you think?

    Foster
    Robbo, Bailly, Mendy, Tomkins
    Salah (C), Mané, Mahrez
    Laca, Zaha, Wood

    (Fab) (Cairney, Simpson, Gray)

Alternative is what I had before but I was bored of it lol:

    Ederson
    Robbo, Ward, Tomkins, Bailly
    Salah, Mane, Richarlison
    Kun, Arnie, Laca
    (Speroni) (Cairney, Stephens, Wann-B)

    Thoughts?

First time with 2 sets of fixture rotation defenders in my squad...what do we think?

    Ederson (Speroni)
    Cedric (wan-bis) Daniels (Ogbonna) TA-A

Thank you for your answer. This was kind. I know that this is not perfect. But Wan-Bissaka has the advantage that he costs only 4.0. Van Aanholt is a goal thread and will probably bring many points. The most time Wan-Bissaka will be on my bench.

      Bristol City fan here,
can't help but think he was a one season wonder for us as a forward.
couldn't get a regular place in our team in midfield which is where he played most of his career and where he now looks to be playing for Cardiff.
Better options 7m or lower in King/Zaha/Arnie or Ings if he's transferred.

Just noticed this in the article:-

"What I like about Cook is that he’s very bench-able as you don’t expect much from a Bournemouth defender, but he has the potential to produce when called upon and also offers perfect home and away rotation with Wan-Bissaka, who looks a no brainer for bench fodder at £4m – nice fixtures too."

Isn't he £4.5? The only £4.0 Bournemouth have is Simpson? 😐

Lloris... interesting call, crossed my mind but is he back yet?
Outside of that 4-5-1 is a brave call, you have a lot of potential non-starters with no cover

In the completely nuclear, worst possible case scenario you could have as little as 4/5 guaranteed starts come gw1

Want some kind of Spurs defense but didn't fancy spending 6m on one who'd probably end up getting rotated.

so this is the best draft so far.

    de gea
    aspi robbo tompkins (wan bendarek)
    salah mane richa pedro (masuaku)
    kun zaha arni

I have doubts with kun (damm you pep), zaha (wants to leave?) and pedro (maybe jota is better option?)

    please RMT my doubts.......

    cheers!

Townsend and Kenedy? Not sure about that.
Monitor the Chelsea XI RE Rüdiger
Also I wouldn’t be sure on Fabs with no cover, Adrian has played all but one game in preseason and West Ham aren’t exactly world beaters

Thanks. You may be right about Fabianski so one to keep an eye on. I think Tony Rudiger will start ahead of the likes of Luiz (though CS may give a clue). Have a sneaky feeling about Townsend and I’d rather have Kenedy than a Cairney or a Neves, though then again he’s playing for a basket case of a team

Not a fan of leaving 6.5mil player (Wood) on the bench above the likes of Zanka. I'd also like a striker of at least Firm/Laca level I think.
