Introduction to the Article Type

With so many RMTs on site, we’re going to start collecting them in these RMT Community Articles.

To start, site regular and moderator Spencer has given us his team, and some explanations of his choices. Feel free to comment on his team.

This is also a place for you to post your team, and please respond to a few others while you’re at it!

Mods have been alerted, and will spend some time on these pages responding.

Let’s try to keep the main article pages free from RMTs!

Spencer’s RMT

Fabianski – Bettinelli

Mendy – Robertson – Luiz – Boly – Tomkins

Salah – Mahrez – Pedro – Deulofeu – Stephens

Aguero – Arnautovic – Zaha

Goalkeepers

9.0 on goalkeepers. Fabianski with FPL pedigree. Unsure on Bettinelli, but rotation with Fabianski looks good.
First 10 games: CRY – BOU – BUR – WLV – eve – WAT – eve – bha – cda – BOU

Defence

Mendy/Robertson/Luiz/Boly/Tomkins
Most I’ve spent in defence from the start – I normally play just one big hitter and 4 rotating cheapies.
All defenders with potential for attacking points.
Mendy a risk worth taking, looked brilliant before his injury.
Luiz a risk, so will keep a close eye on the Community Shield.
Tomkins looks to be the best 4.5 for me.

Midfielders

Got to start with Salah. Can always downgrade.
Mahrez was brilliant at Leicester. Playing with better players at Man City, I can only see him getting better. Another one to look out for in the Community Shield.
Pedro is a risk, but if he’s nailed he will get attacking points.
Watford fixtures look favourable. Deulofeu looked grerat when on loan from Barcelona last season.
Stephens is my 4.5 bench player.

Forwards

Aguero is world class. Possibly some doubts on whether he starts or not. Keeping an eye on the Community shield. Will swap to Aubameyang if there are doubts.
Arnautovic ended last season in spectacular fashion and this has continued into pre-season. Made the mistake of not getting him in last time around.
Zaha also reclassified as a forward this season. Does this mean more bonus points? Doubts over who his strike partner will be at Crystal palace, but I see him returning points regardless. Will need to reconsider if he moves.

1.0 itb to use in an emergency. eg upgrade Mahrez to Mane, or Deulofeu to Doucoure.

Conclusion

The Key here is flexibility. Setting price brackets for positions and then finding the right players to fit in. eg I don’t know if Pedro is the right 6.5 to have, but can easily switch to Jota, Richarlison, or whoever else.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Where have I gone wrong, and where have I gone right? What do you suggest I change?

Only concern in there is Bilva’s naildness but hopefully he sticks around for the first couple at least. If Kane underperforms after first 2 he can become Any premium striker and uprgrade Bilva to a premium.

    Yeah Rudiger seems to be sarri’s favourite and is definitely their best defender in my opinion too. Great set piece threat saw the arsenal game and he was their target every time and even billeted one in came an inch away second time. But yeah hope to see Bilva in a 352 to ease my worries he is on fire atm though

    They are the two most sought after players on the game and explosive in returns so it made sense to build a team around them. I have faith they will both perform but both are at price points where I can make significant upgrades elsewhere.

      Over the whole season you're right - can't imagine Kane and Salah not being close to the top scorers this year - so I think it depends how long-term you're thinking. I don't fancy Spurs as much as some of the other teams early on the season - not because of the silly August Hoodoo thing, but because they have more players than most who will be coming back late and they have a lot of away fixtures early on. Kane could still score well, but think the chances are that they'll come through later in the season.

        A team for as long as it doesn’t work anymore at the moment not planning any wildcards yet. But kane’s First 2 fixtures are better than any other striker so seems like a good Luxury to give myself the option to downgrade. They will still have Eriksen Davies and Aurier swinging it in as well as Lucas and son/Lamela creating space. Their team isn’t as bad as I thought it was so thought of including him. Also will be free from rotation whereas we can’t be certain on likes if Aguero (obviously) and even Auba with laca’s form and emery not wanting to play them together recently for some reason

Not a RMT- just a team I've settled on with some explanation if anyone's interested

Pickford ( Sket.)
Mendy, Robo, Bailly, (Cook, WanB)
Salah, Mane, Dilva, Richal, Cairney
Aguerro, Arnt (Kamara)

GK- Everton early fixtures fantastic, Pickford top 4 for save points last year and likely to change to Leno same price once confirmed hes nailed.

Def- Always planned 3 of City, Pool, Utd and Chelsea. I view these as best value avail. Can transfer 1 of these to a Chelsea defender with ease if need be. Don't intend on much surgery throughout season

Mid. Salah- ownership decided this.
Mane- prefer over firm and need 3 lpool imo.
Silva- should b as nailed as any city mid until champ league, which City have great fixtures until. All city options are a risk so i prefer banking on cheapest.
Rich is my punt. Fixtures play big part. May become Pedro if nailed
Cairney- my favoured 5m mid.

FWD- Full faith in Aguerro for now, happy to change to Auba if outscoring him.
Arny Great value- but again can change to Toson or Zaha if form changes.
Kamara- 3rd sub. Irrelevant

  That’s a very strong team. Everton’s defense looks so tragic but you’d hope Pickford returns and sorts that out and makes a load of points on the way ! Big midfield and defense choices aswell looks great. Dilva is another worry though due to pep’s comments about reducing his play time and giving him a deeper role

    Yeah I think Silva will just want Everton to outscore the opposition. At 5m I think it's worth the risk with those fixtures.
    Same boat with you with B Silva- it's a lottery. But hopefully Sunday clears it up and can rest easier

  You could have just posted the last sentence ha but think it just comes down to Mendy vs Rich. With most having city defence cover I would play safe with Mendy and don't b left behind if they do keep alot of clean sheets with them easy fixtures

  Strong squad there and love the defense, all of the key defences in there for me. Would be only concerned on auba’s first couple when Aguero could well explode. All can prove great picks, Keita not one i’d considered but is good, I wouldn’t be comfortable yet as unproven in prem whilst Bilva is in great form and offers a part of that abundant city attack

Foster

Robertson, Luiz, Bailly, Mendy

Richarlison, Salah, Sanchez

Morata, King, Mitrovic

Bench - Fabianski, Pereira, Hudson-Odoi, Wan-Bissaka

2.5m ITB - can do Morata - Kun/Auba or Richarlison - Mahrez, or even upgrade King/Mitro to Laca/Firmino GW2 so keeping my options open with the extra funds.

Not really interested in the bench, have punts from Che/MU just to see if they can nail down a place early doors

Here my first RMT, what you think about?

Formation: 5-3-2 / 4-3-3 depending on fixtures.

Keepers:
Pickford - Stekelenburg
basically it is a left side team keeper for 4.5

Defenders:
Robertson - Bailly - Luiz - Bertrand
I like top teams defenses for CS and Southampton defensers are well prices, I can even consider Cédric for bank

Midfielders:
Salah - Mané - Richarlison
Salah always captain. If he has some second season disease I have Aubameyang as backup. Mané can easily go Eriksen or Hazard depending on what happen. Richarlison because hype, not sure if I'm ignoring some great 6.5/7.0 option.

Forwards:
Aubameyang - Zaha - King
Zaha can change into Arnautovic depending on transfers. King covers relatively well the bad games of my defense.

Bench
Walker (out gw1 because of Arsenal and WC, but starter in the following gw's)
Stephens - Gunnarsson (4.5's for the bench)

Got some places up for grabs. Luiz looks nailed so have him over Coleman for now, Mahrez cheaper and think he could have a big season but may need to get Sane, Richarlison over Pedro, Aubameyang over Aguero could easilly still score in two tough first games, and Zaha for now over Arnie but will switch if he moves.

David Luiz | Bailly | Cedric | Wan-Bissaka | Peltier
Sanchez | Eriksen | Mane | Richarlison | Ward
Aguero | Morata | Austin

With 0.5m in the bank.

Reasoning behind not getting Salah is that I trust Sanchez and Aguero to be good captain options. If Aguero starts to rotate too much it gets tricky but then I can save this whole circus with a International break WC.

Thoughts?

  I would always play your first 4 defenders. Thus someone has to stay out between Pedro and Arnie/Zaha. Maybe you should downgrade one of those three and upgrade one of the best 11.

There's a few question marks on players which'll be clarified in the community shield, but other than that, I fully think I've cracked it after over 20 drafts.

3-5-2 with strong enough bench and £0.5ITB.

    Just feel there is so much value at the budget striker level, and it gives me such a silly strong midfield and defence. Planning a reasonably early WC (either international break GW4 or GW8) so should tide me over until then!
