Just switched my captain from Aguero to Salah after watching Jay Egersdorff's FPL Masterclass on YouTube. Basically because of the uncertainty over Aguero’s pitch time plus Salah gets an extra point per goal as a midfielder.

I think people just look at City v Hud and think its going to be 5 or 6-0. Looking at the history, City have rarely banged in a load against them. Most games in recent years (aside from the FA cup meeting in 2017) have been low scoring.

Chelsea scored 3 goals past them, they scored 2 goals past Arsenal. I can easily see a 4-0 score.

    So here's my dilemma.
With kdB injured, I asked in thus comments section whether I should take a hit to take out KdB. The general consensus was a resounding YES.
    Now here is my squad.
    Kepa (Hamer)
    VvD Mendt Peltier (AwB Chambers)
    Salah Richarlison Fraser Cairney (KdB(i))
    Firmino Aguero Jimenez.
    0.0 ITB, 0FT

The ideal move is Kdb->Mane, but I already have three pool players. Even KdB to Sterling ot Hazard appeals much more than Eriksen.
Therefore, what do y'all think of simply letting this slide for GW2, and doing a double transfer (-4) next week, where more data can be assessed, and a possibly an upgrade to KdB?

Thoughts much appteciated. Its not that I didnt appreciste the replies to ny previous post, I just thought maybe I wasnt making ny concerns about taking the hit this week clear.

i have a similar team. Salah, Firm, Aguero, KDB, no Mane & no other city attacking options. I done KDB to Bilva for a free. I would have done it for a hit too. Hes nice a cheap, means you can upgrade elsewhere and should be good for points. He's not a risk either as most teams have him.

      1. Differential C (Mark)
        • 8 Years
        5 years, 8 months ago

I agree, Bilva a decent pick. But whether he, or any other pick, is worthy of a hit is what Im debating.

          • 13 Years

You know the price drop will happen, and at the beginning of the season you can assume there will be another transfer you'll want to do next week with players and starting 11s developing so i'd just take the hit now and know you have a ft next week for what you like. also means you dont need to play cairney against spurs

10m is too much to bench, get Sterling, he'll be a long term pick & at 2.7% ownership, if he does anything, it should more than compensate for the hit as it'll give your rank a big boost.

Even for -8? Not rhetorical, genuine question. No cash ITB at the moment.

If you captained him, why not?

The ranks will be very erratic for the first few weeks so points hits won't be felt as much as they will once ranks get established.

You made your bed with the early transfer, have to suck it up and find the best solution now.

Any fellow non mendy or robbo owners?

Could've done coleman to mendy earlier in the week but held off. Will feel like a small win this week if coleman doesn't get hammered by mendy's score.

lesser teams when there's less chance of counter attacks and the wingbacks bombing forward. I cant see mendy getting as many assists against the "lesser" teams.

I'll have to disagree. And for the record so does the men behind FFS according to the video they've posted. He is Gung ho attack, does not care if its counter or not. And he did join a whole lot of settled attacks against Arsenal.

Right, I'd have thought a team that packs the defence is exactly the scenario where Mendy adds an extra body and looks to unlock the door. Game is perfect for him.

Decent 4 fixtures for coleman, hoping he can match mendy over those. CS chance seems less likely than man city so probably need attacking returns or Mendy to be rotation/sent off/injured, not promising.

Have Sanchez, was going to change him for KDB. But now I can't. Keep Samcehz for another round, change to Hazard/Eriksen/Mahrez/Özil?

    Fabianski
    Mendy- Robbo- Daniels
    Mane- Sanchez--Bilva- Richarlison
    Firmino--Aguero-- Tosun

    Hudson odoi--begovic-tomkins-WB

    Thoughts?

    Aguero captain conundrum.

I’m captaining Aguero even though like many, I have serious doubts over his game time. Not least because I’m waiting to find out Pep’s reaction for Aguero not securing a three goal lead by squaring a simple pass to KDB.

However I personally don’t fear Salah will haul against Palace. He may score but I’m not sure he will haul. He may “do a Watford” and completely prove me wrong but I don’t see it.

For this reason I feel that I can take the punt on Aguero. Yes Jesus may start, it’s more than possible, and Aguero may come on for 10 minutes at the end to give me a shiny one point captain. It’s a risk. But the rewards are that Man City (in my opinion) are the only team this week that look absolutely primed to score 4+ goals, potentially more. So I’m happy to take the risk that I may get a one point cameo or I may get one of the best strikers in the league starting at home against what I personally believe to be one of the worst sides in the league. I want to take advantage of that, as although I wouldn’t be shocked by a one pointer I also wouldn’t be suprised by a hat trick.

You summed up my thought exactly. Especially with he could be benched even if he squared that pass.

I am worried about KDB's absence. Will they be rampant without him?

The Arsenal game and Community Shield game say yes they will be rampant without him. No player in the squad can replace him and be as good but the player who does replace him would likely be one of the best players in any other team in the league.

My team and bench selection is really straight forward this week. My only dilemma is who to captain. Switched it from Aguero to Salah this morning. Might switch it back again before the deadline...

I’m the same. No choices to make for team selection, just the captain. But I’ve gone with Aguero from the start and will keep him. It’s a risk but one I’m aware of so I’m willing to ride out.

I agree with this too. I really don't see him being benched two games into the season and just because of *one* bad decision which ultimately had no impact on the game.

It’s not necessarily because of his, or because he needs a rest. The threat is that Jesus is a very good player and at some point will get/need game time.

As Bernardo Silva has become popular, his price will probably rise before deadline. Doing Mahrez to B Silva was something I was considering if Mahrez underperforms, but seems I'll be priced out :(. Doing it now is so sideways.

Sorry, my bad, but 0.1 price rise is more like 0.5 this time of season. I would be priced out of two good moves, Mahrez > Silva, and 1.5 upgrade will become 1.0 with 0.4 itb staying dead.

It is but unless you plan on doing a lot of changes over the next couple of week you will find that actually the 0.5m thing will disappear as a very large amount of players will not be at their starting prices, especially ones you are going to likely want as they will have rose.

Just wait, Mahrez was subbed for KDB wasn't he? More likely that Mahrez will stay on the pitch this time, and he has a better shot at set pieces with KDB out.

Given the KDB situation I may consider a wee cheeky change just as it might give some players a bit more guaranteed gametime.

I never had a chance to see the full City game at the weekend - how did Gündogan actually play?

My considered move would be Milivojevic > Gündogan + 1M

Thoughts? It's not a forced move. Just one worth thinking about.

People on here thinking Pep will drop his star striker because he didn't square it to KDB.
Strikers are selfish! And what sort of manager would Pep be to drop him for something like that. It's bad management.

And those who think Mendy will be dropped because of how Gung-ho he is... Did you ever watch Barcelona? Dani Alves was a second striker and they still won every game.

Right. But he also played him and Jesus every other game when they both were fit and for the last one Jesus hadn't had enough preseason to start.

However, Jesus came on vs arsenal with Kun still on the field, indicating they might play together more this season?

City fans! And other's with some sort of clue on Pep's selection (I know, not even Pep has a clue on Pep's selections but let's play pretend)

I am on my wildcard (yeah, I know I know...) and am not 100% sure which three city players to choose.

What are your thoughts on how City will play without KDB, and what are your basing that on?

Mainly, how (if in ANY way), will that affect Augero's game time? Do you think Pep will play Aguero and Jesus together? He has spoken about using 3-5-2 more this season and did put Jesus on vs Arsenal without taking Kun out.

However last year he played them every other game when they both were fit.

Although, he played Kun at home and Jesus away...

IF I somehow were sure of Kun playing I would never take him out. Otherwise I think it's too much money to have for maybe 10 minutes of game time every other week, or even once every three weeks.

So many questions, are there any answers?

A discussion on this would be greatly appreciated,
    Cheers

No, it was good. Got 93 points.

However, I wanted to change how it was set up to increase the likelihood of getting more high scoring game weeks (inshallah), and figured there's no time like the present

Seems the ID changes each year (?), or maybe just this time. Anyhow, I think it's correct now 🙂

                      haha, maybe so my friend.

However I want to go a (slightly) different way and last year's mistake was WAY too many point hits, so I'll try this on for a change.

I'm not convinced on the logic but good luck to you. I'd more likely be WC'ing if I was bang in trouble. I hit 85 at the weekend and I'm delighted. 93 would have seen me top my ML in GW1 and Id defo not be tempted to WC.

I do understand that it doesn't seem to make any sense, as WC's tend to only be considered as damage control. However I think it makes sense (or at least want to find it this year if it does) to use my WC not to stop bad GWs but to keep creating great ones.

My analysis is that I should change the way my team is set up to increase those chances. Thought I might as well WC now instead of taking a -12.

Last year was the first year I played 'seriously', if you will (I didn't understand price rice before, or changed my team and didn't even log in most months of the season) and my biggest mistake was taking WAAAAY to many point hits. So I'm looking to postponing those for as long as I can, and see how it pans out.

I very well might regret using the first WC so soon, but I hope not 🙂

I’m not being funny, but if you’re on a WC then you probably have bigger issues then whether or not to pick Aguero. Just pick him and sort the rest of your team out. He will probably play and score in most games.

I really don't mate 🙂 My biggest dilemma is which three city players I should put in

Do you think so? What do you base it on (curious, not questioning your knowledge) ? What I'm afraid of is last year's rotation with Jesus coming into play again. That would make him impossible to pick imo

I'm on Mandy, Mahrez and Bilva, but if I could get Sterling without weakening the squad, I would.

          Cheers guys,

I agree with Sterling but can't really fit him in with the way I intend to set up the rest of my team. Also, I am worried that changing from 4-3-3 to 3-5-2 and with adding Mahrez, the striker rotation of last year could become a winger rotation in this season.

What are your thoughts on Augero's potential rotation though?

oh yeah, @ andy_social, who would you get out to get Sterling in then? If we pretend you're on your WC as well 🙂

I wouldn't shift Mendy or Bilva, so it would have to be Mahrez. I think the 2m saved with Mahrez makes him possibly better value than Sterling at the moment.

Plan on doing Salah -> Mané after this gw so can do Firmino -> auba. Is it worth doing Salah transfer before this week to avoid more Mané price rises or good to wait? Or would you not do this what so ever.

Full team is this in case you think of a better way to get him in.
      Patricio-speroni
      Tomkins-AWB-Peltier-Mendy-Robbo
      Jota-Eriksen-Salah-Richarlison-Stephens
      King-Aguero-Firmino

I would do it but I would wait after this GW since you can afford it, due to Aubas fixtures and it gives you two FT if you need to adjust to things that happen this GW (injuries, unexpected rotation etc)
