We can reveal that Mark Sutherns has played his Wildcard for Gameweek 3 of the 2018/19 Fantasy Premier League season.

Joe spoke to him in the latest episode of ScoutCast Extra Time on Friday afternoon to find out his reasons for hitting the button and making a raft of changes.

You can watch that video below or on our YouTube channel.

Mark explained that a lot of his decision revolved around how volatile the transfer market has been since Sergio Aguero‘s (£11.2m) hat-trick in Gameweek 2.

With managers all over the world chopping and changing Mark was faced with a situation where several of his original assets were facing price falls, and those he wanted to replace them with were going in the opposite direction.

Joe made the case for sticking with Mark’s original Gameweek 2 team but it will definitely be an all-new line-up in Gameweek 3.

In our latest edition of ScoutCast Extra Time, Mark takes us through two different teams he is considering before Saturday’s 11:30am deadline – one with Eden Hazard (£10.5m) and one without.

    Afternoon all, after a week of pondering, I think I am set on option B below, having previously thought I really really wanted Alonso for a premium back 3.

    Foster - Fabianski
    Mendy - Robertson - A Smith - AWB - Peltier
    Salah - Mkhitaryan - BSilva - Richarlison - Stephens
    Aguero - Arnie - King

    Considering:
    A. Peltier --> Alonso
    B. BSilva --> Mane

    Watching Liverpool without Mane has been horrible and I have a chance to rectify that with a straight swop. It also means I have the cash to move one of my power midfielders straight to Hazard should he look essential next week.

    Anyone care to talk me out of it or any feedback otherwise? Thanks

      I'd have Alonso and take the Mane route if I was on a WC. Pools fixtures become a bit harder soon and Salah has less of an effect to punish you

      1. Pea Soup
        • 15 Years
        8 years, 2 days ago

        Quite the opposite in my opijion... it’s in the hard fixtures where not having Salah will hurt you more because he will still pick points up but Mane will disappear.

        You don't see Mane and Liverpool continuing to score much in the tough games? Looking at last season they seemed to excel in these which is my worry.

      I will talk u out if being talked out of, get Mane!

      Pool is likely to do well in the tough fixtures, it’s the less tough oppositions they had trouble breaking down, but with Keita in that doesnt seem to be an issue anymore!

    How to fit Salah/Aguero/Hazard/Auba in one team

    Following Mark’s two Wildcard teams and all the Wildcard RMTs I’ve seen, I thought I’d have a dabble and see if I could do the impossible – fit the big guns into one team…think I might’ve done it.

    4.5 GK Hamer
    Mendy Luiz TAA Yedlin Wan-Bissaka
    Salah Hazard Richarlison Fraser Stephens
    Aguero Aubameyang Kamara

    It’d be 4-4-2 rotating Wan-Bissaka and a 4.5 defender as the 11th player (Yedlin looks good for this rotation hence I put him in).

    Note:
    -This team works assuming you had Mendy, Richarlison and Aguero before their prices rose.
    -TAA and Luiz are obvious downgrades on Robertson and Alonso…but it could be argued Alonso is less needed if you’ve got Hazard and Luiz.

    I am not suggesting you go for this team (for me it has some cons) but thought it had enough pros to be worth sharing as food for thought with the FFS community.

      It excludes the highest scoring mid in the game + forces a 4-4-2 + Alonso/Robertson look like good options. Surely worth sacrificing Hazard to get better balance.

    I see a lot of people ripping up their teams in preparation for bringing in Hazard for GW4. Is this really necessary?

    Surely he’s a worse option than Mane for 0.7m more? It seems like Alonso is the better Chelsea option anyway.

    When prices first came out I thought Hazard was 0.5m overpriced.

    If you didn’t have bench cover for Shaw (AWB and Peltier), would you transfer him out for a hit (up to 6.0m to spend)? Or would you ride it out and risk the donut if he is an out?

    Looking at the following moves for GW4

    Firmino + King + Hughes -> Zaha + Kamara + Hazard

    Leaves me with the following

    Foster
    Robertson Azpilicueta Mendy
    Richarlison B.Silva Mkhitaryan Mane Hazard
    Aguero Zaha

    Patricio Tomkins Wan-Bissaka Kamara

    Do I take 1 hit this GW and one next week or both hits next week ?

    Torn between having either (a) Mkhitaryan & Kane, or (b) Alli and Aubameyang. What do people think will be the best duo?

        The only problem I have with that, is what happens if Micky gets rotated for a game and/or Lacazette comes in with PEA moving out to the left wing. Having both seems a bit risky, rather than the guarantee of Kane and Alli always playing, which is why I went for one from each team.

          You have a point but I think Iwobi/Ramsey/Ozil are the risks of rotation

      So does anyone have any preference between the two I listed? If so, for what reason?
