Patience is proving a virtue for the Scoutcast’s latest guest, FPL General.

With top 500 finishes in all but one of his last four Fantasy Premier League seasons, his track record of giving players time to perform has certainly paid off.

Undaunted by a poor start this season he is sticking resolutely to the game plan, with Christian Eriksen and Josh King already rewarding him with attacking returns last time out, while many thousands of others were jettisoning them.

He joins Andy, David and myself to mull over a tricky last set of matches and look ahead to Gameweek 4.

Replacements for Everton’s red card villain Richarlison kick off our community question session, which also takes in Chelsea stars, the seemingly unstoppable rise of premium defenders and Wildcard timing.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday evening. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

WC team? If so downgrade kepa, lose richarlison, downgrade wilshere, change Austin to Mitro Zaha Ings or Jiminez, Stek to Hamer and upgrade Boly/TAA

0.1m short on both Walcott & Pedro. What would you do with Richarlison?

    A) Fraser
    B) Pererya

Have 1.8 ITB which can be used to upgrade any of these players...

    Mhki / Fraser / Bennett / Kamara / Billing

The first 2 are starters in my team, and the only one there would maybe be DSilva over Mhki.

The next 3 are my bench. Obviously a cheap-as-chips bench, but all 3 should be able to chip in with points, and not sure which of them I’d lose.

    1. Nomar
      • 16 Years
      8 years, 19 days ago

Kamara would be the one I’d ditch pronto.

Doesn’t look like he’ll offer you anything, takes up a valuable striker spot and at £4.5 he can only drop in value, which makes it even harder to replace him with a regular starter.

You’d be better off with Chris Kamara instead!

For everyone who has a dilemma involving starting/benching Wilson / King / Fraser / Shaw / AWB, here are their relevant odds according to PaddyPower (not sure where I can find assist odds):

    - Wilson to score vs Chelsea (A) = 26.7%
    - Fraser to score vs Chelsea (A) = 16.7%
    - King to score vs Chelsea (A) = 23.1%
    - Shaw to keep a clean sheet vs Burnley (A) = 42.1%
    - AWB to keep a clean sheet vs Southampton (H) = 50%

    1. stat

Mixed up the last two. Shaw's CS odds are 50% and AWB's are 42.1%.

I guess you have to factor the fact a player can also assist or score more than 1? As there’s only one shot at the CS.

            1. stat

Southampton's odds of scoring at least 2 goals = 27.8%

I guess this doesn't take into account a United under turmoil to a massive extent - betting companies will assume it's basically a normal, strong United defence.

That being said, I'd still put AWB and Shaw as the best two over the Bou lot, especially with their potential for attacking returns 🙂

      This is nice!

One caveat would be that the prices will often move materially in the few hours before kick-off (when the bulk of stakes are placed). Broadly, the bookie will have a 'best-guess' and then let the market drive the price.

Just a question of which you trust more - bookmaker's guess or the 'wisdom of the crowd'.

      1. claretparrot
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member
        • 8 Years
        8 years, 18 days ago

Oh also, the probabilities are all slightly inflated as the bookie needs a margin.

PP run to a 5% (ish) margin so the total 'implied probability' of all outcomes in a market will be 105%.

    Mkhi > Ramsey with FT?

Someone said last game week that I were BONKERS having Mitrovic as captain.

    Will this one top it?

Doesn't matter about the value. Points are what matter.

Why lose either? They look good still.

It's difficult to judge without knowing your whole team. I just feel Mane still looks decent for at least the next 2/3 games. Alonso I'm a bit wary on (despite being a massive fan of his for the past 2 seasons). He has been very fortunate to get the returns he's got so far.

Fixtures are awful. Even the most diehard Pool fan can see that points are going to reduce.

why ? i got salah and mane already and VVD in defence.
need Alonso so i can bench maddison or king in next gameweek

Because they look great. Didn't you got many points from those players?

yes, but alonso and pedro have nice fixtures in next 5, and mane got tott and chelsea away and city home

      Not in away games apparently
Not the best at tracking back

That's not why he was benched. The reason was, because he's the only/best creative player they have and on tougher away fixtures they will save/preserve him.

    Iv got Richarlison, do i?
    A. Replace with Neves from my bench.
    B. Transfer out for Pedro
    C. Transfer out for Walcott
    Or Something else?

I panicked and went B Last night as no chance I’d get Walcott. But keeping Rich was a real option and playing AWB in 523.

2 FT for IB would be cool too
