The Fantasy Football Scout Community have been busy at work again this week, producing the usual excellent array of articles and tables to help with our planning for Gameweek 4.

The hot topics, meanwhile, have ranged from short-term absentees to Liverpool assets and everything in between.

Our latest Community Round-up feature has it all covered.

The Hottest Topics

Celt Abroad kicked off the Gameweek 3 reaction with a look at the possible replacements for Richarlison, who was sent off in Everton’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth.

With Richarlison in mind, Gregor asked if we should sell or keep our short-term absentees and looked at the new suspension rules.

Our regular “Rough with the Smooth” thread turned up the usual success stories and horror tales, while flaming_iles discussed his own excellent start using the RMT tool.

DortmundisLove revealed the past statistics that don’t bode well for defence-heavy teams, meanwhile.

The discussion about Liverpool assets continued, with Rainer looking at the Reds’ fixtures in between the two international breaks.

Legomane floated his method of combating the impact of price falls, while RedLightning examined the overall FPL leader’s early chip usage.

The Gameweek 4 planning started with tambourineman‘s round-up of the weekend’s referees, before G-Whizz gave his weekly clean sheet probabilities, match odds and “Doosra stats”.  We also speculated on the breakout players of this coming Saturday/Sunday.

Jekori highlighted the excellent Fulham/West Ham rotation, while Reckoner looked at the best £4.5m midfielders. On the subject of budget assets: what do we do with blister victim Danny Ings?

Concerning the site itself, Benster gave some frank comments on the Scoutcast while we had a live Hall of Fame update for the first time this season.

Finally, there was a fond farewell to Niemi as a mod – but a warm welcome to Rotation’s Alter Ego.

Community Tables

Among the many, many fine tables created this week were the following efforts:

beans_on_toast

sun_jihai

drewshape

Keep your tables coming in for inclusion in our weekly round-up, with a title and description always appreciated to explain the purpose of the statistical analysis.

Community Articles

There were more super scribblings from the Community this week.

Hutch_James provided another excellent Wisdom of the Crowd, FPL Paulius looked at Gameweek 4 captains and Greyhead examined the fortunes of some elite FPL managers.

Community Tournaments

RedLightning continued his impressive start to the season to consolidate his lead at the top of the FFS Mods and Cons league. Chris James crept above TorresMagic into second, meanwhile.

1. RedLightning – 270 points
2. Chris James – 252 points
3. TorresMagic – 238 points
4. Ragabolly – 232 points
5. Geoff – 229 points

Scott Macalister is the new leader of our public FantasyFootballScout league – and has done it all without using a chip. Scott is actually tied with Cosmin Rotaru and Warren Lim (who are joint-second) but has made fewer transfers.

1. Scott Macalister – 277 points
2=. Warren Lim – 277 points
2=. Cosmin Rotaru – 277 points
4. Jasem Alturki – 276 points
5. Andy Parsons – 274 points

Nick Howard still leads the FFS Members league. Having played his Bench Boost chip in Gameweek 1, he followed that up with a Wildcard in Gameweek 2 and is now ranked 28th in the world. Our very own moderator RedLightning is also up to third.

1. Nick Howard – 281 points
2. Ryan Brazell – 271 points
3. RedLightning – 270 points
4. Graeme Bye – 269 points
5. Luke Pickering – 268 points

Meanwhile, Andrew Garland is the new leader of RedLightning‘s Top 10k Any Season mini-league, three points ahead of the league’s creator. Pete Bullingham and Francisco Lamarque are actually tied in third.

1. Andrew Garland – 273 points
2. RedLightning – 270 points
3=. Pete Bullingham – 266 points
3=. Francisco Lamarque – 266 points
5. Luke Aiello – 259 points

    Who's the best shout to play this week?

    A) Neves
    B) Bailly

    Feel like Bailly will make a return. Also feel like it's either 90 minutes or 0, which is ideal.

      Smalling, Lindelof and Bailly have all looked completely hopeless, especially Lindelof he looks way out of his depth. It's anyone's guess what their weirdo manager thinks though.

      1. JamieC180

        As a United fan, Bailly is the only defender at United who has proved himself to be good enough in the time he's been at the club.

        He's not had a good season, but our win percentage is around 75% when he's playing. Why he was dropped in the first place is being me. If I had any faith in Mourinho's judgement I'd have no doubt of his starting place.

    Given the amount of price decreases we've seen this season, is anyone else scratching their head wondering how Richarlson has only dropped 0.1 this week when nearly 1.05 million managers have traded him out? Even if you take wild cards into consideration, of which surely there can't be that many, it still doesn't stack up. He was owned by over 2.05 million managers at the end of last game week meaning he has shed 50% of his ownership.

    I was expecting he would drop a fair bit over his RC ban and we could pick him up on the cheap, and make a small gain on Walcott in the process, but that looks unlikely now.

    1. MTPockets
      8 years, 17 days ago

      "For a player to fall in price quickly i) teams need to be selling the player, ii) the player must be 100% available (i.e. not injured) and iii) the ineffective transfers must be low." http://fplstatistics.com/

      Plus already dropped once, so I think the threshold doubles. Still likely to drop again though.

      If I captained Aguero and Hazard returned better I could shrug it off as one of those things; but if I did the reverse I would probably kick myself for trying to be too clever, especially at this stage of the season where it's all about banking steady handsome returns.

    Robertson to Alonso for a hit. Madness?

    I know Liverpool have kept 3 from 3 CS but they have played West Ham and Brighton at home. Alonso has been killing it and has BOU, CAR and whu coming up. Compare this to lei, tot, SOT, che, MCI for Robertson. Cant see many CSs for Robertson although attacking returns still on the cards. Plus UCL and cup fixtures midweek may mean rotation with Moreno (speculation).

    Still, is this silly to do for a hit. The way Alonso has scored and assisted doesn't seem sustainable.

      Neville said that spurs win against United was maily because they were bad. Utter crap

      Really? He has played just over 200 professional matches for just 32 goals.

        Majority are sub appearances as Lazio changed to a system that he didn’t fit into as it had no wingers. Pellegrini playing him at CAM in an attacking system spells points he has been our best player last two appearances he looks settled now we will get to see what West Ham can do

      Certainly looked useful in the little I've seen of him.

      Looked absolutely dreadful the first 2 games but quite impressive against Arsenal.

        Yeah was hard to settle in quickly but two games isn’t bad. Doesn’t mean much but he came on for 20 mins vs Wimbledon and essentially won us the game we had no spark he is the centre of everything good we’ll do

        Difficult to judge him in that first performance against a rampant Liverpool, but I'd say he wasn't close to dreadful then (let alone absolutely dreadful) and then he looked decent against Bournemouth.
