What does everyone think of this..?

    Mhiki > D.Silva
    Zaha > Jiménez

    Would be a -4

Might wanna want on more concrete news on Zaha but if he is ruled out then that looks great.

I'd wait for news on Zaha, he could easily outscore Jimenez if he's fit and starts.

Mkhi > D.Silva looks good, but I'm not sure how nailed silva is. Mhki could start and Silva could be benched but I still like the move.

I think Sou fixtures over the next 6/7 trumps Wolves hands down.

Therfore Ings appeals more than Jimenez.

My post was last on the previous page. So..

Ok guys so my midfield looks like this:

Lucas Moura - Mane - Hazard - Bilva with Seri as a sub.

Q : Is there a better combo than Lucas Moura and Bilva? My only concerns in the mid are these two.

    Thanks !

Downgrade Seri then. 5.4m for a bench player is too much.
Neves would work, or Ward at Cardiff if he keeps his place as a striker.

Owning Fraser won’t reduce Wilson’s points. That’s a mistake many make thinking doubling up is somehow a bit wrong. I would choose Mitrovic out of the two but both are good options.

      1. F_Ivanovic
        • 8 Years

No but doubling up on a mid-table team that is performing above expectations is generally a bad idea because if they start performing badly you will def want to get rid of 1 (which might mean not being able to do another transfer you want to do down the road) - better to just have 1 bc if they go through a bad run of form, you can maybe just consider benching or holding for a while if the rest of your team has other problems.

        1. A.T
          • 13 Years
          5 years, 7 months ago

It’s a fair point but it if you think they are performing above expectations then why buy any of them? If they run into bad form why would you bench them? Surely you’d sell them.

  9. Will Son get Moura fewer games?
    Ëð
    • 8 Years

I posted this a few pages back but it bottomed out... could be useful and would like to hear some thoughts.

'Will Son replace Moura following the IB?'

Seen this question floating around a lot over the last few days, with a lot of people avoiding Moura in wildcards and transfers. I thought I would give my $0.02 on the matter.

In my opinion Son's return to the starting line up is very far from certain with Moura in such good form. Moura has really stepped up whilst Son has been at the Asian games, his performance at Man United was nothing short of fantastic. His pace and directness were something the defence just could not handle. Son doesn't have this direct turn of pace, and I can see this keeping him out of the side. Moura is a game changer, he can impact a game in a matter of seconds.

I think Pochettino probably feels that Moura has become the better option, and I suspect Son’s time on the sidelines at Tottenham could be an extended one limited to substitute or Champions League appearances. His work rate is fantastic, something that is particularly useful in the Champions League. You only have to think back to Park Ji-Sung's performances in the Champions League in seasons gone by. Another important point to note is that Pochettino did not hand Moura too many starts towards the end of last season as he wanted him to get up to speed with the Premier League. With a solid pre-season under his belt, I think he is now ready for a more consistent run of starts.

However, with Son on an £85,000 a week contract vs Moura's reported £75,000, I'm not so sure what the spurs hierarchy will think of this move. Admittedly I can't see them both starting with Pochettino nearly always resorting to two defensive holding midfielders in a 4-2-3-1 style formation. I also can't see Eriksen or Alli losing their starting positions. I think for at least the next month or so, Moura's starting spot should be secure in the Premier League at least. Although I expect his minutes to be reduced with Son coming off the bench.

Tl;dr: I think Moura will hold his starting position for the near future.

Don't get me wrong, he has a turn of pace, but it's nothing on what Moura has shown this season.

I’ll give you an example as to why I disagree. When Poch arrived at Spurs he quickly dropped the highly paid Adebayor for a kid in the academy, Harry Kane. Did the Spurs Hierarchy force Poch to play the higher paid player or did they back the manager?

                5 years, 7 months ago

That's a fair example, thanks for sharing. In this case, doesn't that suggest he could drop Son and continue playing Moura?

The wages mean nothing, it's not suggesting anything. Poch will play whoever he thinks will get the best result. Only Poch knows this info, I for one will be a wait and see before getting Moura in the squad.

Yes it suggests that he could do one thing or the other, and he won't be restricted by the relatively low wage difference between the players 🙂

I agree that Moura will keep his place but for different reasons. Son has had no break yet, there will be a few weeks rest needed when he finally returns. Moura’s form and pace, like you stated is a major factor in his favour but what nobody can predict is Poch’s thoughts around CL rotation etc. Only time will tell on that one.

The wage argument just doesn't stake up, not just at Tottenham but at any club. The hierarchy won't care who's on the pitch as long as they get results.

Well thought out. I think you are right. Son a useful bench player for them in that he can cover several attacking positions so would make sense to keep starting with Moura - but from FPL point of view, would be inclined to avoid both until it becomes clearer.

Majority of the team rushed back too soon from the world cup, Kane, Alli, Dier, Vertongen, Alderweirald, Trippier, Dembele all involved up to the final games, and Eriksen went to the knock outs too...all have started from GW1, and you could see in the United game, and certainly in the second half against Watford, those players looked out on their feet.

I'm not sure if Moura is away with the Brazil squad this IB, but if he is, I can see Son..who now has two weeks off I believe, being a prime candidate to come in to rejuvenate the team.

Depends on if he has had enough time to train with the team as well. I'm not sure he'll start first game back after the IB.

'Son doesn't have this direct turn of pace, and I can see this keeping him out of the side. Moura is a game changer, he can impact a game in a matter of seconds.'
I must admit that I stopped reading after this, as it's ludicrous!
Son has proved he's a game changer and he's better than Lucas, much better imo!

I agree with some of what you're saying. I don't think Son will play v Liverpool as he's just had 6 matches with South Korea at the Asian games and has 2 more now in the friendlies. He will be jetlagged and tired I imagine.

Going forward, Moura has certainly impressed and to me it looks his shirt to lose. Having said that, Pochettino will rotate. Spurs also have a very tough CL group. He may even prioritise Moura for the CL, who knows. there's too much uncertainty for me at this time. I'll be monitoring, but not in a rush to jump on Spurs yet, thats for sure.

Wages has absolutely nothing to do with anything - that's a madness.

There is no reason to suggest that high work rate should be favoured in the UCL - that's a massive homogenisation of all the opponents Spurs plays. In some UCL games higher work rate will be useful - in others it won't be a necessity. Just the same as in the Premier League - different games call for different things.

The reality is that Moura is a rotation doubt - both because of Son and even Lamela and because of the 3-5-2 (Alli behind Kane) which has re-emerged with the return of Alder. Of course both Moura and Son could play at certain moments, with Eriksen playing in a deeper midfield role against weaker opposition. Dembele's evident physical issues could increase the likeliness of this.

But Moura wont start each week.

I think if you have Lucas already it's fine to gamble a bit longer on him starting but I'd be wary of buying. Spurs have just lost at Watford and a return to 4-2-3-1 with Alli 10 and Eriksen & Son wide is a very real option for Poch after the break,

Sounds like you are working really hard to try and convince yourself Moura won't get dropped.

We have no information this season on who is preferred, other than last season where Moura hardly got any game time when Son was available.

So on that, especially if you are on a WC, it would be wiser to stay clear until the picture becomes a bit clearer.

        1) Wages has absolutely nothing to do with team selection and is completely irrelevant.
        2) Son definitely has pace so just plain wrong here imo
        3) why the reference to Park???
        4) Stating personal opinion as “facts”.

Time will tell how much/IF Lucas Moura will be rotated, but this post is just guesswork without enough logic behind it imo.

Hot Topics are about conversation points, and opinion and speculation are valid for beginning conversations!

We aren't going to only Hot Topic data/stats based posts, but anything that is relevant fantasy football talk, particularly when it relates to players like Moura.

Importantly, our making something a Hot Topic isn't necessarily us endorsing the position of the writer; it can sometimes be us recognizing that it is a relevant point of view that deserves more discussion

Nobody is saying that a HT has to originate from a purely fact based post or can’t be an opinion/speculation.
I took issue with the original post because it is absolute nonsense for the most part.

I actually disagree. Son vs Moura question has been asked so many times over the last few days. It good to have a HT to actually shut off any new questions.

The other questions that have been asked a ton are Walcott and Zaha so am not surprised to see another 2 HT on that.

Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t complain about the subject of the hot topic, but the actual post - (although it could lead to TOO many HTs).

But if they/we chose to make it a HT, the original post should really not be the base of it.
It’s way too biased, based on personal guesses and assumptions and plain wrong in some aspects if you ask me.
Clearly not a quality post that needed to be the origin of a HT as many others are. Geoff/some other mod should have started their own if they felt that was necessary rather than build on this and give many people a wrong idea on the situation

Bizarre to suggest the wages will decide team selection.

Son should be sent on holiday for a month. After that, a fresh Son will be back in the first XI. Doesn't mean Lucas will be permanent benchwarmer, but does mean he should be nowhere near your FPL team (unless you have a good bench).

Agree. Son should be rested. Moura should be a good option for the next 3-4 GW and then after that, if he doesn't keep his form, he's gonna be out (at which point owners shouldn't be keeping him anymore). I don't think he's a season keeper but then again, not many players are anyways.

Son is not the only person you need to worry about, they play on different sidea for one, Lemela will get time when fit regardless how bad you ( I) think he is.

Moura is a great option , I'm looking at him myself but starting to think it will be better to see how the champs league week pans out. Anyone who thinks he isn't a rotation risk is kidding themselves. He could very well be

Seems that way. He's a good player to have, no doubt about that . Spurs 7.3 forward and on form. He does seem to be hindering kane a bit though, seems to be more advanced so not sure how that will effect things going forward. I don't buy this. Tottenham were poor against united in the first half and poor against Watford. I think Moura's place will always be at risk not just because of competition with Son and Lamela but because when Tottenham need two DMs I see him dropping out. Also we know Poch rotates and likes to alter systems and in terms of systems and rotation he is at risk.

It's not unlikely that Moura retains his spot. Son has always been just a reserve option, a super sub, a dribbler who changes the pace of the game but NEVER a nailed on starter. Why? Because he just doesn't contribute much, if anything, to the gameplay. His influence isn't very big.

So if Moura can bring something else to the team, he'll be a starter despite Son returning.

As a Spurs fan who spends a lot of time on their forums the general opinion is that Son badly needs a rest and will get it. Son is a threat to Moura's minutes but he is also a threat to Kane's and Alli's. This is Spurs; there will be rotation. Only Eriksen is immune as we have no direct replacement (which is why we were trying to sign Grealish in the summer).

I expect Moura to be pretty much nailed for the next 4-6 weeks. Son will get a holiday and then will need to regain match fitness. Poch will not rush him back.

But Son played on WC and now on AG and he will need some rest for sure,so I think Moura will start ahead of him in next 2 games
After that its 50-50 situation, same with Willian and Pedro
On the other hand,I can maybe see them play together in few games, when Poch wants to rest Alli,or maybe home vs teams that play 11 behind ball, with Eriksen going back to CM with some DM

Late answer, but to me this will make selection harder and probably a situation like Pedro/Willian imo. The other ones are pretty nailed but it could have som impact on Alli´s minutes, during congested fixtures run. Don´t think it will have an impact on Kanes minutes (but Moura does have an impact on Kanes points perhaps), but could be times when Poch decides to rest Kane more than just a minute or two, as he will now have the possibility to use Son and Moura up top for say the last 25-20 minutes in games they´re safe. Just speculation that one of course.

City are still conceding goals and Mitrovic is on fire so def. not keen on benching him even though Wolves have a very good chance of a CS.

Decided to take a first -4 of the season to change things up. With a view to downgrading Aubam if he doesn't kick on, and upgrading Moura to Salah if he does.

        Thoughts on this:

        Patricio
        Alonso - Mendy - Robbo - Luiz - WB
Hazard - Mane - Moura (Neves, Gunnarson)
        Kun - Aubam (Kamara)

Might try and hold on to Mkhitarian until then then switch.

Fraser looks to be outstanding value so far, so I would say it's the opposite.

Man United's defense is still very shaky so Shaw has very little CS potential. He does have some attacking threat though so he's generally not a bad option imo.

I'd be tempted to keep one more week. Not even sure on Maddison - jammy points so far.
You might want 2FT to accommodate Hazard after his haul...

The thing with Mkhitaryan is that he won't be nailed on and Lacazette played well. I've also heard that Maddison might be overperforming FPL wise. Also been thinking about Hazard but the only players he could replace are Mane and Salah both of whom I like long term.

Fraser might be an option and would free up some funds too. Pedro is in the same territory as Mkhitaryan I think - would be a bargain if he was nailed on but just isn't. Moura is another option but a similar situation again.

Pedro destroys Maddison in stats. I think he'll start next week too. If you don't want to lose Salah or Mane I'd rather have a piece of Chelsea than Leicester.

I never understand why people say the bench is too strong it gives alternatives to play based on form/fixtures.
It can also get price rises which make it easier to make changes in the long run

Too much money on the bench for me, you won't play 4-5-3, I'll probably opt for Robbo in defence next to Mendy and Alonso just to set and forget my defs for the rest of the season (bar injuries/rotation)

Opinions on my WC team? Thinking 5-3-2 or 4-3-3

                  Patricio (Hamer)
                  Alonso Robbo Mendy Shaw (WB)
                  Haz Salah Dilva (Ward Billing)
                  Kun Wilson Ings

                  cheers

LOL, this article... pre season it was totally the reverse conclusion. Now, AFTER points and price rises Alonso is "essential" and you should "obviously" own. With Joe now owning too, lot of shades of last season here when there was a mass panic to get him in at any cost. If he comes through vs the real teams like Liverpool, I will hold my hands up though.

"Best attacking full back in Europe"? He can't get in the Spanish first 11...

Can't find the words "essential" or "obviously" in the article...?

There was an article th3 other day with something along the lines of Pedro owners have to sell. This was after the team news came out but before a ball had been kicked. Pedro now sits 5th on the watchlist 😀
So much click bait these days you have to sift through.

Pre-season we were told that he would not be attacking any more and would play defensively for Sarri. Nice one guys!

                  Off topic:

Does anyone play online poker regularly and could recommend a good platform to use, seeing a lot of reviews about site being ‘rigged’ never had any issues in the past and of course it’s a possibility but can’t help to think a lot of these people may just not be very good poker players.

                  Thanks

No idea but I wouldn't want to play against a closed-source algorithm.

Hello bud. have been playing online poker for a living for the last 15 years and have accounts on about 7 or 8 different sites. alot of the smaller ones use their own skins but are affiliated to larger groups so people playing on ladbrokes will be playing people on william hill without necessarily realising it. My own preference is for party poker at the minute but if you asked 5 other people they would probably give 5 different responses so just find one that seems to suit you and work your way up from small stakes managing that bank roll!

Thanks for the response, I use to play on PKR and done quite well, they’ve now shut down, I think I’ll try a few and see what ones o get on with best, cheers.
