There has been plenty of Fantasy Premier League interest surrounding Marco Silva’s new-look Everton side in 2018/19, but is it justified?

Richarlison (£6.7m) and Theo Walcott (£6.8m) have at different times this season been at the centre of the debate and are currently the Toffees’ two most-owned outfielders, so we’re assessing the pros and cons of holding onto either player in the coming weeks.

We’re also taking this opportunity to analyse what impact their new manager has had at Goodison Park since his appointment.

Walcott’s injury-enforced exit after 57 minutes of Everton’s 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town at the weekend capped off a frustrating day for the Toffees and the circa one million FPL managers who owned the former Arsenal winger.

Further updates are awaited on the extent of Walcott’s rib problem and, although he currently is the most-sold midfielder of this round, a large chunk of his owners are sitting on the mid-priced option for now with a plum home fixture against West Ham United to come in Gameweek 5.

While Richarlison has had his deserters since his dismissal in the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth a fortnight ago, the Brazilian has – like Walcott – been retained by just under 15% of FPL managers.

That the mass exodus for either player hasn’t happened on a much wider scale is perhaps explained by two factors: Everton’s forthcoming fixtures and Silva’s reputation for delivering attacking football.

A cursory look at the Season Ticker long-term doesn’t cast the Toffees in a favourable light, given that they have trips to Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City to come between now and mid-December.

Filtering by home fixtures, however, gives cause for optimism. Everton top our Season Ticker for matches on home soil between now and Gameweek 16, with the Hammers, Fulham, Crystal Palace, Brighton & Hove Albion, Cardiff City, Newcastle United and Watford all to visit Merseyside during that period.

Even the trips to Stamford Bridge and the Emirates aren’t too daunting from an offensive perspective, given that Chelsea and especially Arsenal have looked a little suspect in defence this season.

Silva’s renown for favouring a more aesthetically pleasing brand of football is something we will explore here, looking at the early impact the former Watford manager has had on Everton’s more attack-minded players from a Fantasy perspective – as well as any notable difference in the performances of his backline.

“In form” the problem is he’s nowhere near in form. If you compare last games heat map between him and Laca it’s a no contest who’s getting in the sci-fi g areas. Auba was basically a full back that game. His most common area was at half on the touch line.

I’m just saying...if he’s gonna play out wide and Laca center...it’s a no brainer for me to bring in Laca at his price. I was shocked how little he touched the ball in the attacking third.

I rather saw it as him drifting wide and attacking the box from there, but numbers don't like apparently. It's still hard to ditch player od his quality during favorable fixtures. I also have more burning issues than him anyway.

I've had him from the start but regretting it massively. One goal in four games is pathetic for a 11 mil striker and he's been virtually invisible in the matches apart from his shocking misses.

I'd probably have Pereira and pocket the change. Laporte also looks like a solid bet for clean-sheets in the mid-term at least.

Over Luiz do you think? On wildcard so could just upgrade back up keeper with the spare. I was think Luiz Alonso double up but tough to know tbh.

          8 years, 11 days ago

I don't think Chelsea are strong enough defensively to warrant 5.5 on a player who doesn't get attacking returns. City will get some clean sheets soon enough. And Luiz is a card magnet. I think Shaw and Periera or a City double-up are better options. I was willing to take a hit in a two-transfer move for Pereira, but I'm 0.1 short. Wouldn't do that for Luiz, if that makes sense!

Got 3 City, Ederson in goal and Mendy in defence plus Aguero. I’m quite content with my mid and forward. Got Salah, Mane, Moura, Pedro, Hughes, Aguero Wilson, Ings. Not really any better players in their price ranges or slightly above imo.

If you had the choice to go with either Salah or Alonso on WC, which one would you go for?

    Here are my drafts :

    Team Salah :

    Patricio - Hamer
    Mendy - Shaw - Holebas - Bennett - AWB
    Hazard - Salah - Mane - Billing - Camarasa
    Ings - Mitro - Kun

    Team Alonso :

    Patricio - Mccarthy
    Mendy - Alonso - Shaw - AWB - Bennett
    Hazard - Mane - Fraser - Maddison - Seri/Anyone
    Lacazette - Kun - Mitro

Team Alonso also has 0.8 ITB which means if I downgrade Maddison I can get in Kane. I think team Alonso is better balanced but I am not sure if going Salah-less is wise.

    Your thoughts?

Team Alonso better. As much as I like Salah, that team not balance at all you need to sacrify Mane or its not gonna work.

As we have Uefa Nations League why we still have friendly games?
    Wasnt it to remove friendlies?

    1. Desperately Seeking Dusan

      8 years, 11 days ago

I wondered that as well but I guess if you’re a C rated team like Scotland for example, you can only get to play vs the best teams that you might face in the qualifying groups for Euros (non Nations League) if you arrange friendlies.

It seems a pretty long winded way to give teams a back door entry to UEFA 2020 via another playoff.

      1. Rihanovic

Isn't the UEFA nations league made to replace the EURO qualifications???

    2. Desperately Seeking Dusan

To answer the question specifically it was to give a bit of a competitive edge rather than an official friendly but also a safety net to the top teams in case they struggled to qualify via the normal groups for tournaments.

Looks good, but maybe Fabianski, I like him better as a set and forget, especially after I think Gw 10. And maybe a Robertson to TAA or Holebas, spend that extra money elsewhere.

My feelings too. Salah could explode one week and considering his ownership it’s too risky to take him out. Losing Mane is tough but Hazard seems reborn under Sarri

On WC potentially. Feel Hazard is too good to ignore.

        Team would be;

        Patricio
        Mendy Robertson Alonso
        Salah Hazard Walcott Maddison
        Aguero Mitrovic Wilson

So transfers made by wild carders don’t count towards price rise and drops? That’s annoying ...I can understand that with a blog like this, people could come to agreements about bringing in certain players at the same time, therefore make them rise quickly...for this the decision seems legitimate...
But still,it’s annoying...or maybe I m just saying this cause I wildcarded and like to see the pounds rolling in lol...perhaps in any other week I d be happy with the rule as it gives more time to think

    1. Desperately Seeking Dusan
      • 15 Years
      8 years, 11 days ago

Correct, they don’t count, it’s why there aren’t many price rises anymore during international breaks (despite what the ask the expert feature said this week) because a lot of people use the IB for WCs... I swear mainly because they listen to experts telling them too.

Price collusion is fanciful. There are more than 5 million players.
