The first international break of the 2018/19 season gave the Fantasy Football Scout community (and its writers!) an opportunity to catch a breath or two.

But while some Fantasy managers have decided to take a rest from all things FPL, the FFS community continues to busy itself by fighting the good fight.

Yet again we can bring you a Community Round-up full of all the latest hot topics and tables carefully and methodically worked on by our users and members in the past week.

The Hottest Topics

Going into the international break, Rhinos waded into the Mohamed Salah debate by offering us the pros and cons of retaining the services of Liverpool’s talismanic Egyptian.

Rossi3254 also had their say on Salah as part of a premium midfielders analysis, while Liverpool’s upcoming schedule also gets a mention as Shawcus outlined his approach of form over fixtures.

This fortnight hiatus from FPL was itself the focus of discussion, with talk ranging from the interest in international football to transfer plans over the coming week or so.

Legomane looked at the death of bench fodder, while Jafooli explored how to build a Wildcard team around two heavy-hitting captain choices.

Ed highlighted the threat of Son Heung-min on Lucas Moura’s starting spot, meanwhile. Another early-season star – Watford’s Jose Holebas – was the focus of Smurf‘s Hot Topic.

Irbox has been watching All or Nothing – and has a few FPL thoughts based on what he’s seen.

The appeal of Arsenal’s assets was also the source of some debate on Friday.

Finally, we had some excellent suggestions this week about our regular articles and on how to improve the Members’ Area – keep those thoughts coming in throughout the season.

Community Tables

There was more quality custom table creation going on this week, some of which are listed below:

Keep your tables coming in for inclusion in our weekly round-up, with a title and description always appreciated to explain the purpose of the statistical analysis.

Community Tournaments

Cosmin Rotaru is the new leader of our public Fantasy Football Scout mini-league after playing Bench Boost in Gameweek 1, Triple Captain in Gameweek 3 and Wildcard in Gameweek. His overall rank is now 30 in a first ever season of FPL.

Nick Howard still leads our Fantasy Football Scout Members League but has slipped to 85th in the overall rankings, having played his Bench Boost and Wildcard in earlier Gameweeks. This is his eighth FPL season, but he has never finished in the top 300k.

RedLightning still leads FFS Mods & Cons but has slipped to 406th overall. This is his tenth FPL season and he has had two top 4k finishes. Like Andrew, he has not yet played any chips.

Andrew Garland still leads RedLightning‘s Top 10k Any Season league and rises to 110th overall. This is his sixth season and his highest previous finish was 5986th in 2016/17. He has not yet played any chips.

How come Kane isn't in WC teams? I would certainly be tempted if on a WC and going without Salah.

Won't know until later next week but i think he should return and if he doesn't he won't get a 1 pointer (a la Mkhi) so just have your bench in order

To start Bilva or Neves? Bilva not nailed, Neves is 🙂

if you dont start bilva in this game you need to get him out of your team entirely

Great question. I think BSilva will play - though the way I saw the last game v Newcastle, it's David Silva who is now nailed. Pep simply cannot afford to play without him. So that's one spot gone. Given Mahrez's poor form though you have to think a spot opens there. But will it go to Bernardo? The Player Comparison Tool certainly favours Bernardo over Mahrez. I think you have to consider also if Pep is going to reintroduce Sane because City still do not look optimal. How about a 4-3-3 then with Sane - Aguero - Sterling up top and DSilva - Fernandinho - BSilva in the middle? That for me could be their optimal top six until The Return of KDB. As for Neves, I hold him and intend to play him vs Burnley. Definitely nailed and still has upside imo. Btw even though it's a small GW4 sample, the PCT favours Neves over BSilva. My two cents...

    WC Team, any opinions welcome!

    Patricio (Hamer)
    Mendy Robertson Alonso (Cook, AWB)

I see, bench Richy for gw5 to save a ft? That's quite clever tbh but I'd bring Ryan Bennett in and start him v bur.
Milner's an interesting pick, on sp's so assist threat is good and pen's too.
Vardy is a funny one, I wonder how much value he offers above Mitro for almost 3m more?

Rich out GW5 and personally don't like his GW6 fixture away to Arsenal either, Maddison for me. Milner...way prefer Fraser with form & fixtures, otherwise gtg.

I have Cook and Wilson, Fraser seems an overkill

Cook > Bennett, Milner > Fraser, Wilson > Mitrovic imo.

Other than Bennett, who’s the best 4mil defender? Want all my bench to get mins, but I can’t get the starter I want without 2 4 mil defenders.
    Thanks!

oh yes of course sorry i forgot!! Only solid option at 4.0 is Bennett i'm afraid, i'd find the 0.1 for AWB somewhere or maybe just chuck in Kelly and hope he gets a few games.

Hmmm... Flags all over the shop in my squad plus a non playing forward but reluctant to play WC yet.
Could suck up a -8 this week to get Haz.

Would you WC or ride it out for now?

    Fab Hamer*
    Rob Alonso Mendy PVA AWB
    Salah Wally* Bilva Mane Gunnarson*
    Sergio Zaha* Kamara

    Thinking:
    A) Rob Salah Zaha > Bennett Haz Lukaku
    B) Rob Bilva Zaha > Bennett Haz Ings

    1. Silecro
      • 8 Years

Keep wally and zaha, at this point it seems they are more likely to play than not. Sort Bilva and Gunnarson for some better replacements like Maddison/Pereyra/fraser and you're good

Fair point, just the fear factor of going without Hazard
