Gregor’s WC RMT

Begovic McCarthy

Mendy Robertson Alonso Doherty AWB

D.Silva Salah Ramsey Pedro Ward

Aguero Mitrovic Wilson

Goalkeepers

Begovic and McCarthy – I like to have a choice of goalkeepers and someone to fall back on in case of injuries, etc; I also don’t trust Hamer so i’ve gone with these two.  Their home fixtures normally rotate quite well – McCarthy’s looking good for saves and Bournemouth seem to have tightened up at the back.  I also like the Patricio and Hennessey rotation but as I’ve got those defences covered I decided to look elsewhere.

Defence

The holy trinity – Alonso, Mendy and Robertson.  Don’t think this needs much explaining other than to say I had started the season with Van Dijk due his threat at corners and feeling that Robertson will miss the odd game around the Champions League, but given Van Dijk has yet to have a single shot and the strength of my 4th and 5th defenders to fall back on, I’m now going with Robbo.

Doherty and Wan-Bissaka – Bargainous attack minded defenders playing for solid defensive outfits and their favourable fixtures seem to rotate rather nicely.  I may even play Doherty over Robertson this week.

Midfielders

David Silva – Nicely priced, posting good underlying numbers and hopefully should be pretty secure for starts for the time being at least given his international retirement and De Bruyne’s absence.

Salah – The Egyptian Messi – He stays.

Ramsey – Looks to be more in favour than Mkhitaryan and should thrive in a central attacking role. A nice differential with good fixtures, all for a reduced £7.4m.

Pedro – Probably a placeholder for Richarlison who I might look to bring back in a week or two but will see how it goes. Nice and rested during the international break so will hopefully compensate for having no Hazard over the next couple of plum fixtures for Chelsea.

Danny Ward – Easily benched given Cardiff’s fixtures but has an attacking threat that you don’t often find at his price. I also like the look of Hojbjerg though and could go with him to save an extra £0.1m.

Forwards

Aguero – If I hadn’t wildcarded I would have seriously considered playing my triple captain on Kün this weekend; the leaky Fulham defence seems a much better bet for a haul than the well organized Newcastle one last time out.

Mitrovic – Probably my biggest regret so far this season is not sticking with Mitrovic in my initial draft and going with King due to fixtures.  I fancy he might even do well at City this weekend in what I hope to be an open game.

Wilson – Form and fixtures align to make Wilson hard to resist, more shots in the box than any other player this season and if he can start converting more big chances then he’ll really be in business. I barely even considered him at the start of the season as I had him last year and he did nothing for ages but it’s an easy downgrade to Ings or Jiminez if the goals do dry up.

Notes

No Man United, as I don’t trust them at the moment and a win over an insipid Burnley could just be papering over the cracks.

No Spurs due to stadium issues, potential fatigue given their players international excursions, and a tough Champions League group. Might look at changing David Silva to Son or Moura in a few weeks though if one of those looks to have secured their start.

Conclusion

What do you think of my team? Where have I gone right and where have I gone wrong?

What does your WC team look like?

Don’t forget to reply to others while you’re here!

Junk team... need hazard or mane or risk getting blown away

I think 'junk team' is maybe a bit absolute and one-sided.

There are good reasons to not have one of Salah and Mané - obviously a risk as they are very highly owned, but an argument can be made.

Hazard is expensive and could definitely score huge but there have to be sacrifices made.

What transfers would you make for his side?

Do what it takes to get hazard in for ramsey or dilva as both question marks this season. Either Downgrade robertson and silva for hazard or wilson or mitro for ings and ramsay to hazard...but in hindisght i was a bit harsh... a decent team if ur playing catch up

I do think you need Hazard if your going without Mane. That Cardiff game screams double points. Hazard on Pens with Cardiff already giving a couple away this season. Ok Etheridge has saved two but that won't carry on all season

Which two 4.5m or below GKs rotate best for the season?

Was on Etheridge and Patricio but due to the Maddison price rise can't afford Etheridge now which is annoying! Didn't see that price rise coming.

    Pickford (Transfering Next week)
    Rudifer TAA AWB
Hazard (c) Walcott (Rich replacement) Mane Mkhi
    Kun Lacazette Tosun

    Boruc Tark Boly Cairney

Any glaring red flags? When are people holding out for wildcards this year? I fear lack of Spurs / Utd players atm

There aren't any glaring red flags, but you could do better than Rudiger and Tosun at their respective price points imho.
I'd be looking at either Trippier or save 0.5m and get Luiz. I'd be considering Mitrovic up front or keeping an eye on Zaha.

Good team except the Ramsey pick. At least Moura is worth the rotation risk as he is playing striker position and can get really good returns. Pretty template outside the Ramsey pick and I hate picking on that one thing but I guess the template is there for a reason.

Probably gonna bench Robertson for Doherty this week which is the beauty of having strong fourth and fifth defenders, wouldn’t have any qualms about playing Robertson though given his propensity for points at both ends of the pitch.

      1. MTPockets

Ok. Then doesn't make sense to have Robertson imo. I have same defence as your rmt, but TAA over Robertson, and think Liv def was a mistake.

WC looks decent but I question that if the team did not need major surgery (since you have pretty much the players most have without WC eg. Salah, Kun, RAM, AWB) then what was the point? Could you not have taken a -8 to fix?

On the other hand if your team lacked bit hitters or you wanted to fit in Kane/Haz, go Salahless then it makes sense.

Yeah, took me a while to take the plunge but had too many doubts in midfield and didn’t want to pay any more for players going up in price who I wanted. I’ve changed 10 players in all so will just have to see how it goes now.

Which WC team do you think is better?

    Option A:
    Ederson (Hamer)
    Alonso, Mendy, Robertson, (Holebas), (WB)
    Hazard, Mane, Maddison, Moura, (Billing)
    Aguero, Mitrovic, Wilson

    Option B:
    Patricio (Hamer)
    Alonso, Mendy, Pereira, (Holebas), (WB)
    Hazard, Mane, Maddison, DSilva, Richarlison
    Aguero, Mitrovic, (Ings)

Very good team! I like the Ramsey and Doherty differentials – I started the season with Doherty, I hope I will get this £0.1 back with some good performances.

Interesting you went for Ward. Do you think he's more nailed on than Hojbjerg ?

Cheers. Doherty looked great in the last game and I think Wolves look stronger defensively than people thought they would be. I wouldn’t say Ward is more nailed than Hojbjerg but he will largely be on the bench and certainly has the capacity to pop up with a goal when called upon.

No Salah, but I guess you’ve made up your mind.
Other than that it looks very template, although I don’t like your keepers.
Also not certain on Dilva with CL coming up, but he is very popular on here.

DSilva isn't prone to rotation until KDB is back!!

I stated it as my opinion, so I believe I am entitled to disagree.

AWB and Bennett are a risk too far imo.. given we have busy fixturelist coming up.. Hojbjerg also not nailed on.. Pedro not nailed but like the rica plan..

Very good team... alternative is to replace robertson with budget or taa and have rotsting backs... and later on ditch dilva with cash if he turns out to be a dud... but ur team looks as good as team can be without sala

Good team overall.. I like the defence v.much(doherty esp.)!!!.. Wish you had dropped robbo for a cheapie and owned hazard and mane(instead of salah)..

Not really a fan of Ramsey!!. Its a wait n see for me!.. Would rather go for Lukaku!!.. He's about to Explode~!!!!

Maybe. Expensive though and United haven’t been good. I think you wanna try and have a differential or two in a wildcard team and Ramsey’s mine, great fixtures and playing centrally for an attacking team at a low price. Can always downgrade to Maddison etc if it doesn’t work out.

    @Gregor

Two things I find annoying in your otherwise pretty good WC team

1- No Hazard. I know you got Pedro, but...

2- No love for Leicester? They seem to play better than last season and have a very decent, and long, run of fixtures. Wouldnt you consider getting one of Chilwell/Pereira/Maguire instead of Robertson?

What abt Vardy and Maddison? Could prove deadly differentials imo.

Robertson’s there for the long term and my 4th and 5th defenders have good fixtures to cover his tough one’s. I do feel Alonso and Pedro can hopefully cover Hazard and I’ve got David Silva in there as well who could be about to explode.

I do like the look of the Leicester players and maybe Ramsey/Pedro will become Maddison in the next few weeks.

    On WC:

    Patricio- Foster

Alonso- Mendy- Pereira- Bennett - WB

    MAne- Hazard- Maddison- Dilva- Pereyra

    Aguero- Mitrovic- Wilson

    0.3 itb.

How does it look? you guys think im ready to go?

I know Wilsons underlying numbers are great, his eye test also looks good. However i have a bad feeling about him, can someone convince me he will continue performing?

Love wilson...sick form and fixtures.dont like rotating maddison and pereyra... too much money on the bench too often... can try to upgrade mitrovic to lukaku or bobby ... just a though to further cover sala

    Not a WC team.

Is anything worth a hit in this team? Would you change the starting XI or bench in any way?

Gregor's team is probably my favourite WC team I've seen.

Only points would be: Begovic - its Bournemouth so not expecting him to give enough CS even at 4.5, Ramsey - Arsenal got 6 goals in last two games with no involvement from him is a worrying sign, I know he has done well in the past but emery's arsenal is a different beast.

Cheers Goalosaurus. Ramsey’s my differential and the points look like they might be on the way. I did struggle with the goalkeepers but I really like the look of McCarthy and Begovic looks to pair quite well with him.

Thanks Minglu. Not sure its worth downgrading 4 players to get in Dsilva. Maddison could get similar returns and more game time
