Our panel of Fantasy Premier League managers have answered some of your questions in time for your Gameweek 6 preparation.

Key subjects such as how to get Eden Hazard (£10.8m) into our squads, whether a double-up on Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) and Sadio Mané (£10.0m) is still viable, and Champions League rotation are all touched on this week.

Once again, we had an overwhelming response to our request for questions. Unfortunately, we can only answer a handful each week but keep your queries coming in for the rest of the season.

Here’s a reminder of who is on the panel for your Gameweek 6 Question Time:

Chief #FPL Manager – This man has finished inside the top one percent six times in his career as a Fantasy manager and is one of the biggest influencers in the FPL Twitter-sphere

Lee from FPL Family – One half of the popular married couple who play FPL together and run a YouTube channel.

Simon March – Winner of FPL in 2014/15.

Question 1 – Chief FPL Manager

Having missed Hazard’s points the last two Gameweeks, is he worth missing another week due to my Salah and Mané double up against Southampton or do I drop one of them for the Chelsea man?

“I was fortunate enough to acquire Hazard during the international break, courtesy of my wildcard. I considered the Mané and Salah ‘double up’ as a serious option, but simply couldn’t ignore Hazard in part after watching his scintillating performances during the World Cup, along with his proven FPL pedigree.

“I also experimented with the possibility of having Mane, Salah and Hazard in one team (along with Alonso and Aguero) but it would have unbalanced and decimated the rest of my squad.

“Instead, I opted for Hazard and Salah, despite the Egyptian costing more than Mane. This wasn’t an easy decision to make, but I took into account their ownership levels and concluded that it’s easier to switch from Salah to Mane if needed, rather than the other way around.

“Crucially, to his benefit, Hazard was given sufficient rest in the first two Gameweeks. But more importantly, I think he will feature far less in Chelsea’s Europa league matches than Liverpool’s reliance on Mane and Salah to top their Champions’ League games, which makes Hazard a must-have in FPL.

“Get Hazard in sooner rather than later even if it means selling one of your premium Liverpool assets. It may be worth considering this as early as Gameweek 6 in case Hazard’s price rises again.”

Question 2 – FPL Family

Aguero is doubtful and with Champions League football could be susceptible to rotation by Pep. Is Lukaku the best alternative?

“First things first, the Aguero heel injury doesn’t look too bad and he shouldn’t miss too many minutes through injury. In terms of rotation though, we could well see a reduction in minutes around the Champions League.

“But having watched Aguero so far this year, as well as hearing his manager’s recent comments on his form, I firmly believe he’s their main man this year.

“There’s no doubt that Pep and City will be going all out for the Champions League this year though, so if rotation is a concern, then you are right to consider Lukaku as a viable alternative.

“With four goals to Aguero’s three, Lukaku already has a higher goal involvement rate than the Argentinian – and a higher conversion rate (26.7% to Aguero’s 12%).

“Aguero’s creativity can’t be ignored though. He creates a chance twice as often as the Manchester United man – every 32 minutes to Lukaku’s 64. As a result, he also dominates the Bonus Points, with excellent underlying BPS when compared to the Belgian.

“My advice: stick with Aguero. If you simply HAVE to transfer him out though, then look at Lukaku. However, also consider the value in the lower price brackets. Zaha is back and winning games for Palace, Wilson’s looked incredibly lively in a Bournemouth side with great upcoming fixtures and Arnautovic turned on the style against Everton in Gameweek 5.

“Given the clamour for premium midfielders such as Sterling, Hazard and Mané, the sale of Aguero for one of the budget strikers, should surely only happen if you’re looking to bring in one of the heavy hitters in that position.”

Question 3 – Simon March

Whether Ben Mendy was rotated or injured, at what point (or how many players) does any absence due to rotation become unacceptable for premium players?

“It’s not a new problem but rotation feels like it’s becoming a bigger one. The best teams now have so many options in their squads, rotation is practically inevitable. In FPL, it seems like an added premium we pay for owning players from the biggest teams.

“How much rotation is too much, I think, depends partly on the position. Benched premium defenders can be frustrating and defender cameos are the worst. Overreacting and ditching players we’ll want in the long term is unlikely to be the answer, but frequently-rotated premium defenders probably aren’t worth holding on to either.

“I’m not sure the same applies to premium attacking players though. For example; because of how Man City play, Aguero might get as many chances in a 30-minute cameo as most strikers will in a full match. Assessing players by the number of opportunities they get to score, rather than by the number of the minutes they play, might be the way forward in a world that won’t stop rotating.

“It’s hard to predict who will get dropped but we know when players are most likely to be rotated; during periods of heavy fixture congestion, especially any involving Champions League football. Having a decent bench and selecting a sensible vice-captain become ever more important tactics during these phases.”

I'm thinking about Vardy but I wouldn't have minded a few more games to assess whether he comes into some kind of form. Dangerous to dismiss him though.

In general, do you think it's a wise strategy not to double up on an average team's attack. Bournemouth for example, if you owned Fraser, would it be better to get Mitro over Wilson to avoid the attacking double up? TIA

Players on form are always interesting. Especially when they have a run of fixtures that allows them to continue their run. No problems with doubling up.

Ya it just sucks when the team have a bad day and don't score. But yes with the fixtures, and the 0.5m saving over Mitro, it's tempting at the moment

Personally I rate Mitrovic over Wilson in this specific case fwiw.

Nope. The gaps should be filled with the same number.

The only difference I'm aware of between having players belonging to the same or different teams are:

              - Players from different teams can be rotated
              - The probability of both players getting the same baps (e.g. 3pts) is lower if the players are from the same team, but the probability of each player individually getting any baps (3, 2 or 1) remains the same whether they are from the same team or not. [In other words, this difference doesn't matter; the idea that baps are "shared" is a fallacy imo]

I get what you're saying, that's part of my question. Do you feel more comfortable spreading the chance across 2 teams or put all the eggs in one average basket

    5. Holmes
      • 12 Years
      7 years, 3 months ago

I prefer to look individually to be honest, even if it means tripling up, its fine

I have Fraser and King at the moment. If I feel that Wilson will be better replacement for Tosun, I'll go for him.

With average attack or bottom half teams, we dont really keep them for long, its likely to be for 3-5 weeks and then get rid, so not a big deal..

      1. Pep says
        • 10 Years

Ya but you're not gonna wanna be stuck with 3 Bournemouth attackers when the fixtures turn. 2 is tricky enough to handle

This is a conundrum. Normally it would be easy to avoid the double up especially with mitrovic and zaha scoring but Bou are scoring for fun at the minute. I am torn. I own fraser and looking ro replace Arnie and king is winning the race for me over mitro. I have aguero and firmino and neither are making way for him either. It is a pity i have to choose between the two but needs must

No hot topic and possibly been mentioned before:

    From City TV

“Sergio Aguero trained this afternoon at the CFA as Manchester City continued preparations for Wednesday’s Champions League Group F opener against Lyon.
Aguero came off during the 3-0 win over Fulham on Saturday after hurting his ankle but looked fit and raring to go in a session led by manager Pep Guardiola.

However, Benjamin Mendy, who missed the win over Fulham with a knee problem, did not train and remains doubtful for the game against the Ligue 1 side.”

According to L’Equipe back in 2015-16, just after Jurgen Klopp took charge at Anfield, he was offered the chance to sign Mbappé for just €300k but he was unable to provide the guanratees that Monaco was able to him and his family.

They also reveal in 2017 Mbappe and his family met with Klopp a few times and were sold under his vision but the numbers being thrown about by PSG for his services folded the oppportunity.

My Everton worries echoed by the write up of Tosun. We're impotent. I hope Richarlison can save us until we're at full strength defensively. We're going to need it.

With the current success of budget forwards, currently toying with the idea of going with a super cheap forward line to allow premium players elsewhere:

    Fab/Bego
    Alonso/Mendy/TAA/AWB/4.5
    Hazard/Salah/Mane/Dilva/5.0
    Mitro/Ings/Jimenez

    Suicide or genius-discuss!

Budget forwards was my go to from GW1, so I'm going to vote for genius here. The premium forwards are expensive relative to their midfield counterparts (Salah excepted), I found them hard to justify. Hazard and is basically a forward who gets an extra point for each goal, plus clean sheet points, and the BPS system seems to love him too (the only advantage for goalscorers being classified as forwards).

Btw, I went for Zaha, Arnie and a 4.5 (because how often does your 3rd sub come off the bench?). Would look at an alternative to Arnie though with his fixtures.

Some. Had him since gw2. Expensive differential. Nervous ahead of every City lineup posted on their Twitter account. Will never captain (again) most likely. Poor value if not captained and his potential hauls won’t hurt non owners at 2.8% ownership.

I'm getting increasingly interested in him as an option, watched the highlights of the City match a couple of times and really like his positioning (albeit it's a small sample of the match). I am contemplating a cheap forward line and investing heavily in midfield with a double up on Dilva and Sterling.

Liverpool vs Southampton!!!!! Salah or Mane ahead of Lukaku, although rotation risk, see who gets subbed early tonight then captain them, if they both play 90 mins then maybe go Lukaku or Hazard.

Sold my Liverpool mid for Hazard a couple of weeks ago, else that's exactly who I'd be captaining.

Have Hazard and Aguero as alternatives. Just tempting to go with Lukaku as fewer people have him.

Scout Pick Community Champion Lottery – Gameweek 6

Once again this year, we will have a champion representing the community to take on the Scout Picks every week with a chance to win a prize at the end of the season.

If you want to take part please email your FFS name and FPL ID number to community@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk by midday on Wednesday.

The champion will be selected at random at 17:00 on Wednesday and then asked to submit their XI by 10:00 on Friday.

This will require 11 picks, fitting into an 83m budget. There is no captain in the picks and the community champion must also stick to a designated FPL formation, and also must not include more than three players from a single team. Again, no chips or captaincy will be applied.

At the end of the season the champion who has beaten the Scout Picks by the highest margin will receive a £100 Amazon voucher.

In the future, the weekly champion will be revealed in the midweek Scout Squad article, which will outline the Scout’s initial thinking around the choices. Our picks and the champion’s picks will be revealed, as usual, in the Scout Picks article.

Should the community champion fail to provide an appropriate squad, fitting the budget and formation constraints, an caretaker manager will be appointed to take control of the selection to represent the community for the gameweek in question.

Submit now if you’re interested for Gameweek 6!

    Good luck

And the site owner, i forgot his name, used to play that accout and write article about what changes they made that week and why. I really enjoyed reading how he reasoned his transfer and all. Just thought to share with you guys if you wanna add something similar to the site. Cheers!!!

Too many premium players susceptible to rotation. Plus two probably injured. I'd try to get 5.5-6.5 midfielder for auto-sub/rotation.

    My GW6 forward thinking with 2FT... Do I vs Don't I

    Aguero -> Lukaku
    - Fixture friendly and Lukaku form on the up
    - Aguero injury/rotation risk

    Moura -> Maddison
    - Again, Leicester have favourable fixtures and form is excellent
    - Son back in contention for place
    - Eye Test, Moura still looks the most active player for Spurs as does Maddison for Leicester

    The Hit (-4)
    Mendy -> ???
    - Currently monitoring injury
    - Considering Holebas, good form

    Thoughts appreciated.

Tough. Lukaku at just not as explosive as Kun (even though score more so far in total).
Not sure about Maddison, although Moura will probably have to go at some point.
Like Holebas and Watford do look good, but sell Mendy?
